    Cocktail class
    Sharon Y.

Came to Reid's for both their distillery tour and cocktail class as a belated valentines activity with my boyfriend. The cocktail class comes with a welcome G&T to sip on as you hear the charming co-owner give a fascinating history lesson on the origins of gin as well as an explanation on the start of this family business. You also get to see the machinery used in the distilling process. The tour is followed by sampling 3 mini G&Ts with each of their gin flavours (classic, citrus and spiced), with explanations on the notes. At the end of the tour, you can select a drink from their extensive gin-based cocktail menu. Make sure you don't have plans immediately after this tour as you really get to do a lot of drinking! As a big fan of gin I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth on this tour. The cocktail class was taught by a different host and he walked us through how to make 3 totally different cocktails, each with different flavours. We certainly weren't experts in our pouring but the drinks turned out delicious nonetheless. I live close by and would totally love to come back even just to drink at their beautiful bar. I have already recommended the tour to my friends, if you are a gin lover this is a total MUST try!

My friends and I did a cocktail making class and everything about it was exceptional. From the ambiance to the thorough walk through, all of us agreed that this was a great experience that we would sign up for again. Although I am generally not a gin drinker, the 3 cocktails we created were delicious and might have converted me into enjoying gin! After the class, we were allowed to enjoy the space and sip on our cocktails which was lovely. Highly recommend as a fun activity with a group or even for a date!

High tea at Reid's Distillery ( for 2)

Not sure if you are aware that there is a Gin distillery in the Leslieville area. Just south of Eastern Ave on Logan is Reid's Distillery. And they do a Gin High tea on Sundays. Two seatings - 12 noon and 3 pm and you must book on Tock and prepay for the tea portion. So we checked it out. Was sold out when we were there. The tea is 45/pp but incl tax and tip more like 57/pp They give you a reasonable amount of sandwiches, savories, scones and sweets. And a pot of tea of your choice. You can then order other cocktails that are gin inspired. The tea was fine. Let's face it - pretty reasonable. But the sequencing of when things come out is a bit off. We had our teapots way before the food came out and so we were almost out of liquid to enjoy the tea with the good. They will top off with hot water but candidly that made it pretty weak. Note to the business - for that size of teapot you should really put in 2 bags and do make sure the water is boiling ( otherwise it does not steep properly). Staff were friendly but a bit sparse. They have a nice little gift shop with sampler packs and all things to go along with gin and bartending including a large selection of tonic and other accompaniments. Parking can be a bit of a challenge as it is street only. But you can park one street to the west.

Many year's ago I attended a Martini night at a place I will call "Beer's R Us", I had two chocolate raspberry martinis both yummy but one was pink and one was a chocolatey brown. When I pointed this out to the bartender their response was "This is Beers R Us not Martins R Us", which I thought was a very fair point! With that in mind - I recently attended the Gin High Tea at Reid's. I am already familiar with Reid's and I have enjoyed their cocktail kits, and their gin is a standard in my house. This is a gin distillery - you are not going there for the food. The food is OK (and if you want a nice High Tea experience this may be disappointing) the cocktails are fantastic, the ambiance is festive, I thought it was a fair value. Would definitely go back for their other events and to shop in their store

Went to this venue yesterday for a live show and appetizers and drinks. When the appetizer arrived, I was blown away. Presentation was excellent, smell had you excited to eat it and then when you finally indulged, the flavour was fresh and ridiculously tasty. The humus had a beautiful sesame oil taste to it and the pita was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The drinks were incredible tasting and the presentation of them in bottles and glasses was extremely fine. Band was incredible with one of them sounding like a real life Phil Collins and the other one hitting intense female vocals in a remarkable variety and accuracy. Place was full when we arrived but the courteous waiter still went and found seats to get for us to settle down in. This is definitely a hidden gem.

Such a wonderful spot close to home in the east end of the City- though I would drive further just to experience one of the most fun experiences. Having tasted many of the world's finest gins, Reid's is right up there with the best. In addition to a great bar with an eclectic menu of gin cocktails, there's also a lovely lounge area. Gin & Jazz is a popular event - even on the snowy evening when we were in attendance. Staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. There's a fantastic store where one can buy not only their own crafted gins, but just about every kind of high quality tonic waters and mixers, as well as numerous accessories and everything needed to prepare cocktails at home. There are also various tours and special events as well.

I saw this place advertising block to you this week and it open last weekend. When I saw that they were agendas jewellery I knew I had to go. I need a Biking over and there a bike racks reasonably close by which was perfect. Walked in and it had a very neat atmosphere or you could smell smoke something and as you read the menu you realize it was one of their lovely cocktails (one of their gin and tonics). There's lots of bar seating and then really cool different couches and chairs and even a chessboard that you can sit out to have your cocktails. The cocktail menu is great the first few our cocktails the next three are Gin and tonics with variations on them and the last three are your classic three martinis. I tried the other flower a Vespa which was great. It wasn't too sweet with the other flower just a nice head to complement the flavours in the gin. Then I tried the blood orange Negron he with and have a maid come Pari. Very need to try a different compadre it was a perfect Negron he. If you're a huge fan of gin or Negron he's or gin and tonic's I highly suggest you try out this place. This may be your new home away from home.

LOVED the tour they give here! We got to meet one of the brothers (Graham, I think?) and he took us on a fun tour, detailing their family's process in starting this business, the history of Gin, and walked us through the flavour discovery process step by step. There was a lot of drinking, and we had a ton of fun. The lounge itself was very chic and modern, and if it weren't for a dinner reservation, we definitely would've stayed as long as we could. If you have friends who enjoy gin, we highly recommend this tour! A great way to spend the afternoon for only $45/pp.

Near the Portlands, Film Studios on the eastend.

Very classy gin bar down by the film studios! Furniture is colourful and funky. After my visit, I read some of the reviews and realised that they do have tours that you book online here: https://reidsdistillery.com/pages/tours-and-experiences. I sorta wish that I knew about this PRIOR to my visit! The Signature Tour is $30 and includes 2 gin based drinks, a tasting, so if you're a gin lover (or even a beginner), this seems pretty worth! :) They also have a yoga class on the weekend. It was fairly quiet when I stopped by late on a Sunday afternoon. Again, I was pretty impressed with the setting. Menu does include non-gin and even non-alcoholic drinks. I don't *think* there was any food items. I wish there were prices listed on the menu tho!

Welcome cocktail - gin and tonic

Came here for their distillery tour on my birthday. It was a wonderful experience and relaxing way to spend part of the day. The interior is a very large and open space with a retail area, bar, lounge, and distillery. There are couches and chairs and interesting little pieces scattered around. For example, they have a pair of flip down seats that are from a closed theatre (forget which one). They have acoustic guitars if you're feeling confident in showing your skills. We arrived early and were welcomed with a beautiful slate platter of gin and tonic in their lounge area. We loved their glass coffee table so much we ended up getting the exact same one after they let us know where it was purchased. The tour was educational and interactive. We got to taste and smell the various botanicals used to make gin. It was especially interesting to hear about their custom bottle. After the tour, we were invited back to the bar for a finishing cocktail based on our taste preferences from the tour. I loved the experience and would definitely recommend it for any spirits, beer, or wine lover. The only feedback I would have is for their merchandise. I love collecting t-shirts from breweries and distilleries but their merch design is not that nice. (Make cooler merch please!) Still 5 star rating from me though!

Came here for their distillery tour and was so impressed at the experience. Reid's Distillery is a family-run gin distillery and you can definitely tell that they have put in so much thought, effort, and love into everything they do, from the design on the bottles, to the ingredients, and the location. Upon entering the distillery, you immediately noticed how spacious, inviting, and aesthetically pleasing it looks inside. In particular, I loved the huge wall of plants (during the tour, Martin, the father, joked that they decided to have the plant wall and then realized they had to figure out how to water them!). You can place your coats on the racks by the windows, check-in and then sit anywhere to have your welcome gin and tonic. The drink was delicious and so refreshing with the grapefruit. There were about 15 people in our tour, so it is a small and intimate event and you really get to hear and experience everything. Martin Reid gave us a brief history of gin and their distillery and he was funny and fascinating! Then, we had the chance to taste each of the distilled botanicals they use in their gin - everything was so scientific and we loved that! Finally, we went back out to the main area for a drink of our choice based on our tastes. We also opted for a charcuterie board (which took a bit longer to come and we had to remind them), and both were delicious! You can also check out their merchandise and gin - we snagged a bottle (a little over $50) because we loved the gin and also the bottle, which they designed themselves and each is hand-dipped in this beautiful blue wax! Overall, for the price of $30, you get two drinks and a wonderful tour experience! Will definitely be keeping an eye out for their drink-making classes and try and pop in soon! Highly recommend!

Spirit of York Distillery: An Enchanted Speakeasy Hidden in Plain Sight…read more There exists within the Distillery District a sanctuary so conspicuously underappreciated that it borders on the miraculous--a place that paradoxically announces its excellence through deliberate restraint, drawing a discerning few while the many pass unknowingly. Spirit of York Distillery is precisely such an establishment: a hidden gem not because it obscures itself, but because it permits only those with genuine appreciation to discover its treasures. Upon entering, one is transported to an earlier epoch--the speakeasy lounge aesthetic suffuses every corner with an intoxicating atmosphere of Prohibition-era elegance. The seating arrangements evoke intimate conversations conducted beneath the weight of historical resonance; the bar itself commands attention as a stage for ritualistic craftsmanship. Yet perhaps most mesmerizing is the large glass partition separating patron from machinery--a transparent threshold revealing the intricate dance of distillation itself. One watches spirits transform from raw material to refined essence, a metaphor rendered literal. The "Cocktail Jammiest Jam" arrived as a demonstration of precision: each ingredient orchestrated to achieve perfect equilibrium, neither demanding attention nor withdrawing into oblivion. It was, quite simply, perfection as executed. The Gin and Tonic transcended its humble categorization. What might elsewhere be dismissed as elementary proved itself exquisite in execution--the botanicals dancing in perfect proportion, the quinine providing architectural scaffolding rather than domination. More remarkably, one possesses agency here: the opportunity to compose your own gin and tonic according to personal preference transforms the experience from consumption into collaboration. Here emerges the essential truth of Spirit of York: the spirits themselves, while commendable, become secondary players in a production where theatrical excellence, bartending mastery, and service refinement command the stage. This is not a destination for spirits connoisseurs seeking to dissect distillation notes--though they would not be disappointed. Rather, it is a refuge for those seeking an experience that transcends the strictly gustatory: an atmosphere so carefully curated, bartenders so genuinely attentive, that the act of ordering a drink becomes secondary to the privilege of their counsel. Remarkably, despite its proximity to your residence and its undeniable merit, the establishment maintains a refreshing discretion in its clientele. Quieter than its reputation deserves, it functions as a personal sanctum--a venue perfectly suited to entertaining visiting friends, providing them entry to an experience they would otherwise overlook. The space even accommodates those seeking private events, serving as venue for occasions requiring sophistication. Spirit of York Distillery stands as testament to the proposition that true luxury often dwells in obscurity--not through inadequacy, but through an absence of self-promotion. This is where ambiance, expertise, and grace converge to form something rarer than any spirit: a genuine, unpretentious sanctuary in an increasingly performative world.

Watch out carefully for it as if you're not careful you may miss their store front on Pippin Rd. So what sports of spirits are they concocting at Last Straw? All of them. Their Vaughan Vodka is one of the smoothest I've had served straight up at room temperature, little to no burn and none of that head shaking as you force it down.
