No electricity, No refrigeration, No machinery... Everything are done by hand with no chemical or preservatives! This is different than the commercial version that they sell in LCBO. We ended up tasting 3 samples - Rifleman's Ration - brewed especially for the season is unfiltered brown ale, caramel and earthy taste Stout - really flat, taste just like medicine.. but apparently rich in iron IPA - really interesting taste as it is brewed with a citrus hop, quite difference than the usual IPA Tour itself is really interesting! Not only about the historic brewing method but a great lesson of Ontario's beer history. The costumed guide was quite entertaining and I love how all the participants were involved. We were all assigned as one of the historical characters: Brewers, Politicians, Tavern Owners, Temperance Advocates* At the end of the tour, you also able to purchase a 2 L growler with beers that are brewed on site ($12+$4 deposit). The only downside is in order to visit the brewery, $15 admission to the Pioneer Village has to be paid on top of the tour itself! If not I won't mind coming to the Brewery Pub to have a drink of their special brews!! And if you drive, $7 extra for parking! HISTORIC being word of the day. CRAFT being key. Nobody can be designated more as craft unless they handbrew in their basement. ...with a Copper Pot, Kettle, and a contraption holding Wooden Beer Barrels. Whoever has that Mancave setup with 70" LED Smart Flatpanel TV, gimme a shout. 150+ years from now, someone will laugh at you about that historic LED Smart TV. As I smirked at the quality of Historic-style Brown Ale, Stout and IPA provided to us. Here's the catch. Historic Brewery Tour serves up Beer the Historic way, as it was. No frosted Beer Can showing you it has reached Rocky Mountain Coldness. Why? Think back when you were 150 years younger. Electricity, Fridge, Machinery. Nada. It so happens even Carbonation didn't exist. Flat lukewarm Beers anyone? So you've tried Black Creek from your local LCBO? Doesn't taste as bad as I've said? Those Bottles my dear Friend are made at a separate Commercial Brewing Facility. I have a couple in the Fridge myself waiting for something historic to happen, cheers. Please pay for the Historic Brewery Tour($4.50+purchase of Village Admission[$15]) The one-hour history lesson with the lively young miss alone is worth every Penny. Sobr Market, located at the corner of RIchmond and Maud, is Toronto's largest bottle shop selling…read morenon-alcoholic wines, beers, and spirits. The old space may look familiar since the space used to be where Beatrice Society was. Consisting of 2 floors, Sobr Market has a wide variety of non-alcoholic options (including de-alcoholized wines, flavoured sodas, etc.) that recently opened in late April. I stopped by Sobr Market the day they opened to the public and was amazed at the great selection they have. The only thing is that...who would have thought...that non-alcoholic options can get quite pricey. I did see some brands I am familiar with but there were many other brands to try as well. Staff were attentive and friendly during my visit, asking if I needed any assistance or help. I did purchase a few cans of de-alcoholized wine and some sparkling water as well. Good option for those who are trying to cut down alcohol or don't try at all!

I bought this for the first time as a joke. Seriously. It comes in a crystal head bottle, looks…read moresinister. Halloween was coming. It was perfect for the Halloween party I was attending. I've since learned a little about it. I like to know what I'm drinking. The bottle is designed by John Alexander, a real, known American artist. No joke. His work hangs in the Met. And then its made in Italy by Bruni Glass. Again, no joke. Dan Akroyd is actually the brains behind this vodka. He was looking for a vodka without any enhancement - no added flavors, no added preservatives, no added anything. Just a corn based vodka, so gluten free, mixed with waters from Newfoundland Canada. Its cold up there. They say the waters are glacial ones. Somewhere in the process its filtered through Herkimer diamonds (you know, found more or less only in Herkimer NY). Only vodka I'm aware of that does this. They claim it adds a "positive energy" as these diamonds are rumored to emit positivity. Who knows, cant hurt, may help. They don't make any flavored vodkas, and most people will use this as a base for a mixed drink. Its good. People like it. Its pricy. Very. I don't buy it often as a result of both that and the fact that its not my favorite bottle. But the bottle is a conversation piece, which can be terrific at times. Part of what you are paying for is the bottle/packaging/marketing. Keep that in mind. (Years ago a huge stash was stolen from a CA warehouse, and Dan Akryod evidently said "well some people can enjoy it now for less than retail". I don't know if that's true or not, but assuming it is, that's a great attitude.)

All those foreign beers are nice and cold and our local ones are piss warm. Have seen some serious theft in here, expensive bottles being boosted in plain sight and the staff do not say or do anything. Ridiculous. And the gravelly voiced homeless man at the front door is not a great look.
