Reid Park is a great place to go for some fresh air, space to roam, and to connect with nature. The tall trees grow around the duck ponds, which is filled with a variety of birds. Check out the fountain, the kids play area, picnic ramadas, and the center fountain. There is plenty of room to plop for a picnic or paint sesh. read more

Despite the recent influx of homeless people in the park and what seems to be a lack of leadership addressing the issue, I still find the path to be relatively safe overall. You do occasionally run across people sleeping along the trail and some unpleasant situations, but the loop itself is still enjoyable. It's about a nice 2-mile path that circles around the zoo, park, and golf course. Only a small portion of the trail is lit at night, but there are a few drinking fountains along the way. Overall it's still a decent place for a walk, bicycle or jog during the day. read more

What an amazing walking path just incredible. I'm sure the walking path made sure that the weather was perfect for us. The concrete was flat. All the other walkable surfaces were as they should be natural. The world did a really great job of making a park. read more

Great park, tons of facilities, well cared for. I stopped by for the evening and the park was well lit in certain areas lots of people were hanging out. There is also a lot of parking options. read more

An oasis in the desert! Parking is easy, and the area has water, flowers, a paved walking path, and grass. It really is a beautiful area in this low desert paradise. The whole paved path once around is three miles, but you may get sidetracked with waterfalls, ducks, swans etc. I love the walk around the lake, but I also enjoy hanging by the water, and enjoying the ducks and swans. The park is right next to the zoo....so if you are lucky you may hear an occasional roar, or elephant trumpet! That is a blessing...... The park also has an attached golf course that I look forward to playing!! It is reasonable and a locals favorite! It is safe and well lit....and certainly worth a visit! read more

Great place to come & enjoy family & friends while getting fit!! The bike/running/ walking path is great & always plenty people around so in case you're alone you'll feel safe! Outdoors & exercise can beat it & it's free no membership required! read more

Water in the desert is an absolute luxury, so Reid Park is a gem for Tucson denizens seeking a local oasis! You'll find a rose garden, an amphitheater and a paved walking path along the man-made lake. There's even have a waterfall feature. It's not uncommon to encounter swans and swan droppings, and most weekends I've seen an ice cream truck in the parking lot! read more

I walked 4 miles here and didn't even feel it. The trail is very well paved. The scenery makes the walk easy and fun

Anytime you get to meet the love of your life for a lunch break is definitely a 5 experience! On the Southside of the park is solar panels that provide decent shade. The traffic was low today due to it being a weekday. The amenities are minimal. Didn't get a chance to enjoy the pond on this trip, but we saw the ducks flying overhead. The scents of the nearby Zoo reminded us of how long its been since we've visited it. No issues, complaints or problems from this recent visit..... Wish the Sunday Lowriders were out. read more

What a beautiful place to go on a sunny 70° day. The large duck ponds are a breath of fresh air as we are so accustomed to dust and concrete. The fountain, fake water wall, and man made creek make for a spectacular scene. Around the duck ponds is super green lush grass covered in shade from the surrounding palm, date, and olive trees. There's a kids train that rides around the pond, and ice cream trucks with a variety of cold treats that play children's melodies in the background. When the childhood melodies mix with ice cream , ducks, and scenery the feel good vibes arise. It feels like summer. Only Con's: Some areas are covered in duck poop and smell horrific. There are signs everywhere warning you not to feed the ducks but plenty of dumb people there doing it. read more

Bored with the same old scene while on the treadmill at your gym? Head to Reid Park! After a long day at work sometimes the gym environment just isn't very appealing so I like to head over to Reid Park and take the 3-mile loop. The path is well paved and even striped to mark coming and going lanes. You'll find a wide variety of people on the loop and that makes it so much more appealing than the gym sometimes. I'm a people watcher and there's plenty of opportunity on the Reid Park Biking/Walking Path. You've got fitness walkers like me, roller bladers, serious runners, dog walkers, kids on bikes and families. Plus - there's no cheating and quitting early. Because of park fencing you are pretty much forced to do the entire 3-mile loop, unlike the gym where you can just step off the treadmill. The path runs along Broadway/Alvernon/22nd but the passing traffic really isn't a hinderance. I love the portion of the path that winds around behind the police station and along the duck pond. It's a little bit of lush paradise back there! You'll find a couple of water fountains along the way and there is a public restroom in the Jim Reffkin Tennis Center that is clean and easily accessible. You can even catch an intense tennis match as you walk by the courts or check out the golfers on the driving range. I especially love the ghost bike tribute along Alvernon. The path can sometimes get a little crowded after work but once the weather heats up, it opens up. And that's about the time I head back to the air-conditioned gym. read more

I walk here nearly every night with my two dogs, late enough that the 100 degree daytime heat has subsided. The path is well lit - except for a few street lights that turn on and off at random as I pass beneath them - and well-traveled, even at 9 or 10 PM. People walk or bike alone, in pairs, with dogs, with kids on scooters, babies in strollers or all of the above. The police substation at the corner of 22nd and Alvernon ensures that the park is also well-patrolled, making it safe for night walking. Getting around or past other users of the path is seldom a problem if you are flexible in your willingness to break right or left. The main path is listed as a 3.1 mile loop, but you can extend your route out to Country Club along 22nd or Calle Campestre or both. My current routine begins at Miko's Corner dog park, skirts the edge of the zoo and ends back at Picnic Place, for about 4.5 miles plus any walking inside the dog park. Works for me! read more

Reid Park Biking/Walking Path - I love this stretch of the path behind the police station. - Hiking Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

Ahhhhh fresh air never felt so good! One of my favorite places to go walking. The bike / walking path is extremely safe at almost anytime of the day. It doesn't hurt that a police station is right next door. It can get busier after 5pm, but not overly crowded. Although there are fountains that are located on the corners of the path, I would suggest bringing your own water. Thank you Reid Park for being awesome! read more

My favorite place to walk because once you start, it takes 3 miles to finish as long as you don't turn around. Lots of people walking from sun up to sundown and near a police station so I feel safe even when I need to walk late. read more

Another local favorite ! What a refreshing outdoorsy perfect spot for an evening stroll, jog or bike ride. My dogs are always anxious for a walk around the park and I am always in need of more exercise, people watching and fresh air! It's also a great spot for hitting some balls at the golf range, playing a little tennis and last but not least the community center at Randolph offers some amazing classes. I just took a pottery class & it was a great introduction to the pottery wheel & I met some awesome folks to boot ! Check it out Yelpers! read more

I have a love/hate with the path: The loves: It is a great distance I love the loop that goes by the duck pond (nice and shady) I generally feel very safe The friendliness of the morning walkers/runners The hates: People take up both lanes and seem cranky when you try to pass them People want to run down the middle of the lane, even when no one is the the left/right of them Aggressive bikers (depending on the time of day, there can be too many) Dog walkers who leave behind poop nuggets. read more

After three summers in Tucson, I am pining for my California walking paths somethin' awful. All the Yelp-love for this three-mile track finally brought me out on a slightly-less-than-scorching Saturday morning. The Pluses: There are pine trees! And eucalyptus! And green pastures (okay, a golf course -- but a very lush greeny-green-green one) just beyond. The Less than Pluses: Two lengths of the path parallel two of the city's busier thoroughfares. But, hey. I live here now and I'll take it. I count myself yet another fan. read more

This path is well-maintained by the city and is one of the safer areas to run at night in town (in my humble opinion). I wouldn't suggest bike-riding around it because people do tend to bring their families out and little kids dart all over the path. During peak hours (about 4:30-6:30pm) it can get pretty clown-packed, and people sometimes forget the etiquette (you know, the whole "stay on the right side of the path" thing can be really hard to remember sometimes). People also tend to walk four-wide, which takes up the entire path, making passing dangerous, but I think that just comes with the territory of being a runner on a multi-use path. I wish the city would do something about the duck ponds on the golf course- I don't mind the smell (I've swam in worse), but the copious amounts of trash in the water make me feel sorry for the poor birds that have to sift around for food in that water. read more

So I went here today and I drove all the way around the park and never could find an entrance! Has anyone ever had this problem?! Please help. read more

The Red Park Biking/Walking Path is a real gem in the heart of Tucson for anyone that would like to enjoy a little physical activity. There is a paved loop around the entire park that is around 3 miles... making it pretty close to perfect for people training for a 5k race, which was what I was doing the last time I was in Tucson. There is ample parking all over the park, and while the path had quite a few runners and bikers on it everyone we encountered seemed to have a good understand of the rules of the path. For those that don't know: STAY TO THE RIGHT. The only thing I really dislike is how close the path is to major streets. I understand why the path has to be set up this way, I just hate running by cars that are polluting the air I am trying to breathe! Other then the minor issue with air pollution, I am a big fan of this path. In my opinion, it is the best place to run in Tucson city limits. read more

My LOVE for Reid Park's Biking/Walking Path goes from my fingers all the way down to my toes. Well more to my feet than anything else honestly. I go here to run Reid's paved, three mile gradient filled path, and most of Tucson does the same. From students, to the U of A track team, to old marathoners, and shuffle'rs as well. You'll find them on the trail. It's well worth every moment, and is by far one of my favorite places to go running. I LOVE this place. If you're someone who needs a rabbit to follow, like I do, it's a good place to stay motivated. Even during the summer when the heat is at it's peak. Reid is the place to go. There's a nice moist breeze that flows off the golf course when you pass by certain sections, and it is quite refreshing. There's not much else to say about ol' Reid Park. It should be taken for a spin. Even if it's just to walk the dog. read more

This track is safe since it's next door to a police station and it has drinking fountains on three of its four corners. There is plenty of parking on both the east and west side of the park. The duck ponds from the golf course can get very smelly when there is not enough rain (so you have fair warning). The track welcomes bikes, dogs, and is stroller friendly. They also have a number of tennis courts also. People are normally very friendly but on rare occasion you will get young and old riff raff which is normal for a city park. Obey the track rules and normally no one will get snarky or give you looks. The tennis court lights get turned off around 9pm and there can be some dark areas at night. It is a single 3 mile trip all the way around. You can work your way up slowly. If you have burned off enough calories and want grub then you can walk over to either the Circle K (on the east side of the park) or go to Panda House, Chic-fil-a, or other eateries on the south side of the park (next to Burlington's). read more

Daisy, my corgi, loves all the attention she gets here. As for me, I like how this track is nice and long (about 3 miles) and how it's well lit and safe. I don't feel like I'm going to get BTKd here, which is a huge plus. Good people watching too. If you are lucky enough, you will see the guy who collects aluminum cans and hauls them around in this Mad Max-looking contraption that sits on top of his bike. Another sight: people wearing those "sweat" suits that look like black plastic garbage bags. Sometimes I get a whiff of the zoo animals and that kind of bums me out. But then again, it motivates me to run a bit faster to get away from the smell. Never a dull moment at the Reid walking path. read more

If I had $100 for each step I took on this path, we'd all be rich! Just the right amount of everything is the key to this urban ParkBikingWalking path. GREAT for 5k training! This is probably the best path in town when it comes to training for a 5k or wanting to run a 5k daily for cardio. The trail is completely paved all the way around with hilly portions along the way. I use the term "hilly" loosely! (I live in the Tucson Mtns...that's hilly!) There are always people around which is nice for early morning or late evening runs and it's always quite eclectic for people watching! Take your iPod and head out. You'll enjoy, I swear!! And to tag on what Corey D. said, take water. There's only 1 water stop along the way. read more

What a nice day for a walk around Reid. No matter what time of day it is I feel safe walking in the area. There is always someone on the path biking, walking, running, and many families that walk together. The path is well lit and l personally like the views of the park, driving range, tennis courts, and the street as you walk along the path. When driving by the path it seems a little small, but when you are on it yourself there is plenty of room for you, bikers, skaters, and families. F.Y.I Parking is available near Hi-Corbett field and the entrance near the zoo. I love walking at Reid and cannot wait to participate in the Tucson Breast Cancer walk at this park. read more

A nice path to take a early morning walk/run or a bike ride. A 2.9 loop if you go by the pond with sun and shade. Not very busy during the week, a lot busier on the weekend. Lot of options to make your walk/run or bike as long as you would like! read more

This track is: -The perfect length (almost 3 miles around) -Almost amply shaded -Safe, due to the police station -Not boring Just be careful! The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because there is a lot of traffic and drivers aren't always cautious of pedestrians. Be sure to "run defensively" and be especially careful at the various entrances. Oh, and bring water! I know of at least 3 drinking fountains along the path but the water is, of course, warm and icky. read more

I am hesitant to review Reid Park's stunning jogging path for fear that if all Tucsonans knew about it, the path would look like the starting line at the Boston Marathon on a daily basis. Not only is this path safe even late at night (strong TPD presence and effective lighting), but it offers the runner a slice of the city that eliminates one of my personal runner's obstacles: track boredom. Imagine if you will all incarnations of bikes, trikes, skates, scooters and dogs all politiely preambulating, training, cycling, coasting, waddling, or sauntering in a polite manner against the verdant, cool background of Randolph Golf Course, the tennis courts, the zoo complex and Solana neighborhood. Except for dodging the elderly woman in her Plymouth who took a wrong turn one day and drove down the path, I've never had a problem here. Keep on truckin, Tucson! read more

How to run a 5K if three miles seems far... a) run with music b) go to a gym and go on a cardio machine that lessens your full body weight on your legs but still gets your heart rate up so that 3 miles doesn't seem far c) run/walk - couch to 5K plan d) run at Reid Park because it allows you to run at night (with one of the few places in Tucson that is lit and is heavily patrolled with cops) and is basically a rectangle so it doesn't seem so far :) I love the 2.98 mile path...now a half marathon does not seem so far because I just need to run around Reid 4 times plus another mile :) read more

I really love this park. They have a rec center with events/classes, as well as swimming (nice for the hot Tucson summers). My son loves running all over the playground and playing on the swingsets. They have a duck pond, he loves, with a quaint little running waterfall the kids just love. They even have a little train on a few of the Saturdays we went, where you can ride around the pond (10 minutes or so) for $2 per person. A good place to run, jog, rollerblade, play catch, picnic, bbq etc. And, they regularly have events/festivals/fairs at the park, that a nice, inexpensive and healthy way to get out of the house and enjoy time with your loved ones. A true Tucson gem. read more

Great park/walking path! Like the other reviewers mentioned, it is quite noisy since it is literally in the middle of town, but my two other friends and I had no problem carrying on a conversation. Great path lots of parking!

This is a great place to go for a run, I love running and this is a perfect place to just enjoy myself and let all the worries fall of my back, once I start running, nothing else matters. I aggree with Corey about the fact that there aren't any fountain drinks around the park, however for me specifically, that motivates me to finish my run a little faster. Going for a run in the middle of the night may be a bit dangerous, but I find that, this is the best time to do it because it is almost empty if not empty at all. Even during a cold night it is still really good go running in the middle of the night. Perhaps I just like a little bit the element of dangerous that keeps me going back. I think that people should be proud of such a great landmark and keep it clean. especially those people who walk their dogs and do not clean after their pets, that is such disrespect not only for the community but for all the dog owners not just the ones who do not clean after their pets. read more
