Not my favorite, but a pretty decent park. This park is close to 43rd St on Gloria by the fire station. It's kind of too wide open and too close to a busy intersection and sadly the immediate neighborhood of this park has gone downhill so it's not the safest. I wouldn't come at night, but it's pretty chill by day and I don't see any "activities" in daylight. The equipment and facilities are also kind of worn out and need to be updated. We only brought our kids here once or twice as the 95831 has many parks and there are definitely quite a few others that are better. Still it's good this park is here for the kids and families within walking distance. And it's relatively safe since it is right next to a fire station so I'm sure the less positive activities are more discouraged here. Lots of open space and grassy area, plus there's tennis courts that stay open till late, very brought lit, so that's a big positive if you're looking for a place to play tennis or the latest trend of pickle ball. This park has open courts that are usually not busy. There are also a small bball court and a skate park here, so a variety of activities for everyone. The one special feature I see people use a lot here is the disc golf course which looks cool and fun, but what do I know, lol. There are bathrooms here, but they do not look that great, so I did not try using them. read more

This park was a great find. I found it searching for skate parks, with tennis courts, and playgrounds for my family that has kid ages ranging from 2 years old to 14 years old. There is also a big grass area where my sister and I used our badminton rackets to toss A birdie back-and-forth. There was also a basketball court. Missing a star due to male teenagers without supervision harassing young girls but overall the park itself is a great park to bring the kids and get some exercise. read more

Not a terribly large park if you are just looking for the standard amenities but what really stands out about this park is the disc golf. There is also a little skate park but not something I find myself using unless I want to seriously injure myself Fair warning, this was literally my second time disc golfing ever. Compared to the other ones I've mostly scene but not played this seemed to be on hard difficulty. I determined this on how often I found myself going into the trees and brush to retrieve my discs. Much cursing and expletives abound, but that was more on my failure and inability to properly throw a flat object. All kidding aside most of the course is in a wooded area but it very well maintained. While I call this a small park, it is small relative to a park like Land Park or Elk Grove Regional. It's actually quite large, but a decent portion of the park is the wooded area where the disc golf course is located. There is also a bathroom on site but like many park bathrooms, it's quite terrifying and best avoided. read more

I really enjoy this park. I walk or run the trail weekly at least and while I can't say everything there is always and forever rainbows and unicorns, is McKinley either? No. Unfortunately that element can show up no matter how beautiful the surroundings. It goes without saying always be vigilant for yourself of surroundings. It doesn't make the amenities or the experience undesirable for me, but then again I didn't find the "objects" the other reviewer did. With that said, I haven't found any questionable object on the trail or at the park, I also haven't seen a transient or prevalent trash on the trail; maybe a napkin or two over time. The park itself is cute. There is also a baseball diamond and larger soccer field there too. Kids are usually at the playground from the surrounding areas. The tennis courts usually have at least one available too which is convenient. Paramedic fire station is right next door too, I figure it helps odds if ever an emergency. read more

Okay, not much has changed from my last review as far as atmosphere. The drug dealers and homeless still linger at this park which is soooo unfortunate! I did give two more stars on this update because the newly built playground is significantly better than the last. Completely new play structure with a fire fighter theme. There are many components to the new playground, all with different function and purpose. Also there is a dual swing (see pic) that I found interesting and made me L.O.L. Though at the same time I thought it was an awesome addition to the swing sets. Although this park as a whole isn't my favorite for safety reasons, Reichmuth does has everything the surrounding neighborhood needs. From a skate park to baseball and open fields, the new playground just adds more value. read more

Taking a stroll with our dog around our new neighborhood, I happened to run into new friends and neighbors. I asked if there was a creek nearby and was directed to the Reichmuth Park Nature Area. Despite the official Reichmuth Park address, which will lead you to the conventional grassy area of the park, the best way to access the Nature Area is from Silver Lake Drive off of South Land Park Drive. As I walked into the canopy by Sump Station 65 on Silver Lake Drive, my trepidation turned to delight as I discovered a wild wetland forest right in the middle of our urban neighborhood! There is a beautiful trail which meanders and eventually leads to the grassy areas of Reichmuth Park. Along the way, we spotted wild blackberries, grapevines, cat tails, and even a fig tree nestled among the native oaks. We heard crickets, frogs and saw a shallow pool full of tadpoles. Even though we didn't see any, there are reportedly bunnies. And birds. Lots of birds. Apparently, per the Sacramento Audobon Society Reichmuth Park is home to many uncommon birds. One hundred years ago, Reichmuth Park used to be an area called Munger Lake. It was later renamed Reichmuth Park after it was owned by Joseph and Amelia Reichmuth, who also operated a 358-acre dairy. If you want to melt away the stress of urban living, I suggest a walk with your dog here. For safety reasons, I suggest you don't go alone. My kids really loved the "secret" nature walk. Except for the wet shoe in the boggy water incident, but the shoe was washed and no harm done. This morning, my six year old son stated that he's pretty sure Master Yoda lives there but only comes out at night when it's foggy. Only the birds and the bunnies may know for sure. read more

Nice shady areas, small bbq area. Full sized basketball court, frisbee baskets, soccer field and playground. Nice bonus - skate ramps! Parking lot is adequate and accessible. Lots of families and kids. Not too many vagrants but lots of weed smokers. This is a park!!!! Little kids are around. Take that somewhere else. read more

It's a good place to play disc golf. But the bird watchers tend to ruin the experience. They seem to heckle people that walk on the common space. A pair of older men dressed in bird suit's walked over to me on as I was teeing off on tee pad two. Confused I asked them what they were looking for. They scoffed at me and said that there's a well endowed worm eating warble in the trail and my existence was nuisance. I was stunned by the remark. They then insisted that I'm not worthy to breath the same air as them, and that I'm not welcome at the park. Another time a man dressed as worm proceeded to wiggle around on the muck off the trail... he proceeded to warble about.. shouting out "warble", seeming to lure in a well endowed warbler. I though this park was inclusive... read more

SENIOR CITIZENS EXERCISE GROUP Mon - Sat, 8 -9 AM Class is cancelled if it's raining. TAI CHI starts closer to 7 AM. Since my parents worked outside the home and telecommuniting was yet to be coined, my grandparents babysat my brother and me in their South Land Park home. We'd get dropped off around 6 AM, watch cartoons, then go to Reichmuth Park to play... Most people walk, but many would drive and park their cars in the lot. My grandparents enjoyed exercising as well as socializing with the other seniors like Frank. (gee, I miss how he always smiled and talked about baseball cards with me) I even miss the lady with her pug; that was the first time I saw that breed with its beautifully grotesque face. The group was mostly Asian immigrant or US-born, but I can remember how excited I was when non-Asian seniors started participating. So many people converged to cover the basketball courts, sidewalks around the playground, and down the asphalt paths toward the soccer pitches / fields. We met other kids whose g'rents also babysat them. I remember sprinkling salt on snails / slugs, or playing Batman & Robin while the grown-ups did their stretches. The movements were slow, focused on breathing -- and meditative if you wanted them to be. It would have been quiet if we, kids, didn't make so much noise. The 8 AM class is not tai chi, but I have seen elderly Asian people do the same moves in the front of the music concourse bandshell near the De Young Museum in SF's Golden Gate Park. (As my g'pa aged and became more homebound, I saw the syllabus.) According to G'ma, there's an annual membership fee of $20. This covers social events / catering costs for the annual summer picnic (at the park) and a year-end holiday party at a local restaurant. read more

Living down the street, I pass by Reichmuth just about every day. Although, I can count on both hands how many times I've actually been here. Reichmuth has a much nicer and newly done playground with a fire fighter theme, just about every sport fields/courts and a skate park. Not to mention the lights stay on pretty late too at the basketball and tennis courts. There's also an area with picnic tables but every time I've been here there are people smoking weed and drinking or homeless folks. This park has a lot of soccer and baseball games here too. So those days it can get packed and occasionally a taco truck will pull up. Reichmuth is definitely an ideal park but the public drinking and drug using is enough to turn me away. read more

Very nice park with basketball courts, mini skate park and big open field for various sports and activities. This park also features tennis courts at the southern end and a 9 hole disc golf course integrated across the riparian area of the park near 'Mungers Lake'. This is one of the areas finest 9 hole courses but the park itself loses a star for the amount of transient camps that inhabit the area. Not to mention the hefty dildo collection that had accumulated behind hole 8's basket. (Don't throw long!) Otherwise the park is a gem and hope to see additional pin placements added in the future! read more

Very good park. Next to a gas station, firehouse and 7-11. Has a tennis court, skate park, playground, base ball and soccer field. During the weekends this park is usually packed. Lately there's been some crazy stuff going on there. People have been finding cut off animal heads in brown bags. Almost great except the last time I was there, there's litter all over the parking lot and courts. A ton of space, great walking areas, nice shade, there's a ton places to walk and see but maybe not a great idea to stay past sunset since it's not be the safest area to be in. read more

A good park with a couple tennis courts for hitting. The courts themselves are quite well kept and lighting is available until 10 pm for night tennis. A solid alternative to McKinley park when the courts there are packed. read more

The family and I started coming out to this park for Thursday night softball events. The park is easy to find, on the corner, a fire station is near, there is a playground, it's decent in size, and the restrooms are accessible. The three stars is for the baseball diamond. The home plate has a huge hole near it, if you go to hit the ball, and quickly run, you more than likely will trip from it. Knowing that it's there, I still witnessed multiple people do it during the game. To avoid it, my husband is taking time out and taking it upon himself to fix it. It's going to fill the hole with dirt so no one in the future has an injury. The only other negative remark is there are a few homeless people wondering and hanging out near by, just as a caution. The neighborhood is ok, but definitely quite, good for families and dogs overall. read more

We live in an apartment complex, walking distance from this park (literally a 3min walk), but lately it seems there's always SO many people here (many, younger folks smoking blunts and drinking tall cans, no joke) and I'm not judging (I smoke weed, daily) but you see me with a baby and a stroller so why tf would you roll up with alcohol or beer? I think it's rude and disrespectful. Situations like this have occurred 3x to me, so we started visiting other parks around the pocket/Greenhaven area. (Maybe you guys have better luck going here!!?) Wish this park would clean up a bit, because it has so much potential. read more
