Being here was several weeks, I worked from hime to let them have access to the backyard and inside the house for their needed repairs. They all worked without issue and concern, and provided necessary updates when available. Communication with the city for permits was at issue at first, and an initial inspection was missed. As myself and the team weren't aware it was taking place at that specific time. 2nd inspection, the inspector was several hrs late and made the contractors wait all day, and no work could get done that day. Inspections after were good. Only issues I noted were a number of nails left out in my yard, all in the same area vicinity. Where my dog also goes out to walk, so that was a little concern. But there was nothing else that occured, and clean up for was good before and after. Total work - $18k+

Once I made the decision to go with 3 Generations, I started working with Jeremy who went the extra mile to meet me at my work to sign the paperwork and select the type of siding for the house. We signed the paperwork in the late Fall, which is a busy time for them but Jeremy was always up front with their estimated timing, which I really appreciated. Once the work started, the job was completed pretty quickly. Again, Jeremy and his crew were very communicative and kept me updated on the status of the work until it was done. They also fixed some plywood dry rot and installed new plywood as well as correcting some roof deck problems in addition to all of the siding replacement. Previous Experience: We hired DL Design Construction last…read moreyear to completely renovate the exterior of our home with James Hardie siding, including windows, light fixtures, and all new electrical with an all new panel. Dimitry and his team exceeded our expectations so much so that we rehired them to build us not one, but two storage sheds. But did they really build us the storage sheds we wanted? Why Rehire? We had one previous storage shed. You know the one that everyone has. The so called Tuff Shed, in reality wasn't so tuff. It was falling apart. It was seated on cinder blocks that weren't stable or sturdy. There were gaps in between the doors and we wanted something more secure and airtight from dust and critters. Especially the smell. You know what i'm talking about if you've had one. We also wanted something more purposeful, and something that would have longevity. So we shopped around looking at Tuff Sheds from Home Depot & Lowes, but quickly realized that they were similar to what we all ready had just with a bit more bandages. We knew within a very short period of time these sheds were going to fail miserably from their design and cheap building material. So we picked up the phone and called Dimitry at DL Design who we TRUST. The Build: After discussing our requests with Dimitry his team went to work. Heres a brief breakdown of the work they did: They tore down the old shed, poured two concrete pads including a walkway leading up to the shed (that we just love). They anchored the shed down to the strong concrete pad, which practically made it tornado proof. They built the frame with precision and excellent craftsmanship. Insulated it so i can store more temperature regulated items. They sheathed the frame with plywood on the exterior as well as the interior. Then wrapped it with a water barrier paper. They installed several windows to help control temperature and bring in natural lighting. They installed a sturdy door with lock and key, which helped secure it, as well as prevent dust and insects from entering in. Unlike the prefab ones that have gaps and fall apart due to water intrusion and warping from sunlight. They finished the inside & outside with the best siding material out on the market, the James Hardie fiber cement siding. They also painted it from inside and outside with high quality paint. And not to fail to mention they installed electrical with an interior ceiling light and 3 outlets. You thought I was done, but i'm not. They also installed 3 custom gutters to help direct water away from the structures. The Upside: With these two new "sheds" we can utilize this space for so many purposes such as a new office space or even a gym. We can store things in there that we could never store in any new prefab shed out there. Such as food as an extra pantry, clothing such a transferring winter wardrobe from summer wardrobe. Storing blankets, towels, bed sheets, and not worry about things smelling like it came out of a shed. We no longer need to worry about bugs or critters getting to our valuables or moving in underneath the crawlspace making a din, since the "shed" is sealed airtight from all around. From the beginning, he was knowledgeable, informative, and took the time to explain the scope of the project and the costs involved. We were getting quotes from several other companies, so California Energy was not automatically going to get the job. What really stood out happened later that evening when Phil, the owner, personally reached out to ask about my experience and make sure my questions had been answered, whether we decided to move forward with his company or not. Coming from an HVAC sales background myself, that immediately impressed me. I have always appreciated working with family-owned businesses, and having the owner personally follow up showed a level of involvement and accountability you do not always see. Phil and I ended up talking for a while, and I mentioned that I was also collecting bids for a complete roof replacement. I had already met with six roofing companies, but after my experience with Mitch and Phil, I figured, why not get one more estimate? Ultimately, we hired California Energy for both the insulation project and the roof replacement. This turned into a very extensive project because we had multiple other projects and contractors working at our home at the same time. California Energy has been extremely accommodating and willing to work around scheduling changes, other trades, and unexpected issues along the way. Jamie has been the project manager throughout this entire process, and I really have to give him credit for keeping everything moving. He has essentially been shuffling all the pieces around while coordinating with the other work happening at our property, making sure California Energy's portion stayed on track and that my concerns and needs were addressed. With this many moving parts, that has not been easy, and I genuinely appreciate the effort he has put into coordinating everything. I have also worked briefly with Tony, another project manager, and he has been amazing as well. Even in the limited time I have worked with him, he has been responsive, helpful, and willing to jump in where needed. John and Oscar handled the roofing work and have been excellent to work with. They have been professional, responsive, and willing to address details as they came up. The roof is now complete, and the old attic insulation has been removed. We are currently waiting for some electrical work to be finished before the new insulation is blown back in. I also have to give a special shout-out to Jose. While working at our home, he identified a pre-existing issue with our HVAC system that could have turned into a very expensive repair down the road. He did not simply point it out and move on. He advocated for us, communicated with our existing HVAC contractor, and helped everyone work together to determine what was actually happening. That process ultimately revealed that the two-year-old HVAC unit installed on our roof was defective. Because Jose was thorough enough to recognize that something was wrong and persistent enough to help get it properly investigated, our HVAC company is now replacing the defective unit. That could have been a completely different situation had he not caught it. Thank you, Jose. With a project this large and this many moving parts, I do not expect everything to go perfectly. What matters to me is how a company responds when something does come up. Whenever I have brought a legitimate concern to California Energy's attention, they have acknowledged it and worked to correct it rather than ignoring it. That says a lot to me. We still have a few minor items for California Energy to finish, along with blowing the new insulation back into the attic once the electrical work is complete. I plan to update this review once everything is officially finished, but based on my experience so far, they have earned an A+ from me. The fact that I can remember so many employees by name, including Mitch, Phil, Jamie, Tony, John, Oscar, and Jose, probably says more than anything else I could write. Each one of them has made enough of an impression that I know exactly who they are and what role they have played throughout this project. I called to get an estimate and was assisted by Alejandro. He scheduled a date that worked best for me to come out for an estimate. On the day of the appointment, Alejandro kept me informed on when he was arriving. Once he arrived, he asked all the questions and started the necessary inspections. He inspected every inch of the roof and even used a drone to help. He itemized everything that needed to be addressed and broke them down into sections with estimates listed next to them. Based on the inspections, he identified there was moss present that needed removal, few shingles were damanged, gutters were detached, etc. He took many before photos of what he identified that needed to be addressed. He went through each item with me very thoroughly. I decided to hire them on the spot. He said his crew can come out the next day. They require a 10% deposit. On the day of the project, his crew showed up promptly. They got straight to work. The project took around 4.5 hours long to finish. After they were done, they sent me the after photos with the invoice. The roof looks brand new after the cleaning. I am so glad I found them on Yelp. They are easy to work with and professional in all areas. I will highly recommend them to family and friends.
