The best reggae party I've been to in a very long time. Nice old school vibes with a twist.

The room is moving, the energy is right, and it feels like a real party instead of a playlist on shuffle. Friday nights with the live drums? Different level. That's when Bembe really shows its roots. The drums add this raw, authentic feel that turns the whole night into an experience instead of just a bar stop. Now let's talk drinks -- because this one deserves its own moment: The tequila with the lime dipped in coffee grounds is surprisingly delicious. I wasn't expecting it to work... but it absolutely does. Must-drink. Non-negotiable. This is a place to dance, drink, sweat a little, and leave feeling like you actually went somewhere. Bathroom Review (2 out of 4) Safety - Bouncer presence helps a lot. You feel secure moving back there. Accessibility - Easy enough to get to, no maze or weird hallway journey. Space - Bathrooms are small and tucked way in the back. Gets cramped fast. Privacy - Sinks are outside the bathrooms, which kills the privacy a bit when it's packed.

Delaceiba cookin' up the dope vibes!…read more Came out to see the DJ, Delaceiba, and he did not disappoint! The energies he provided kept the party MOVIN'. I loved that there were congas by the ready for a quick jam sesh! My only gripe was the drinks. My first drink was an "old fashioned" and it had a bunch of raw coarse sugar at the bottom. It actually looked like a Long Island iced tea, so I'm not sure what it was. It was a bit loud, so maybe they misunderstood my order. My second drink seemed accurate, and was just fine. Anyway, I'd definitely hit this spot up again, especially if Delaceiba is in the house. Much much love Bembe!

For my 600th review, I will be writing about my visit to The Rub on my birthday weekend…read more(4/30/2016). The Rub is a monthly hip-hop dance party, that plays old school hip-hop, the kind of music I listened to in high school. It takes place on the last Saturday of every month at the Bell House. It sounded like a great time, so I headed over to the Bell House around 10pm. There was no line around 10pm, so I got in quickly after paying the cheap $10 cover. There's a (non-mandatory) coat check at the door, and the space is split into a smaller bar/lounging area and a large (dark) dance floor with a stage and another bar. I'm glad I heeded the warning to come before 11pm, because the space filled up quick. Drinks were fairly priced. Beer ranged from $5-$8 and mixed drinks were $8. I had a good amount to drink. It's great that there's no dress code, because you wanna be comfortable when you hit the dark dance floor. They played all the types of music I had expected, including old Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, and a lot of Prince (R.I.P.) I did notice that the smaller bar area had different music than the dance floor. The music at the bar was older, late 90s early 2000s hip-hop, and the main dance floor had later 2000s. I'm not sure if that's a usual thing with this event, but it wasn't bad. I had a great time

I LOVE this event…read more This past Halloweekend Saturday, Nick C. thought of the genius idea to come to the Rub, an event held every last Saturday at the Bell House. It was about a 45 minute wait in line but well worth it. They charged a $15 cover that day, I hate covers but that's pretty damn cheap considering how huge the venue is and great the event was. The Bell House is a warehouse divided into a small bar area and a huge stage area. The crowd is great and the place has a very Generation Y feel to it. The music that night and the last/first time I was here, featured classics of the 90s/early 2000s (basically my childhood). I would assume that's the theme and motif of the Rub, to replicate a night out in the city during that epoch. So for that, I bestow it a very emphatic 5 stars.

The rooftop views are stunning. Even though it was a colder month and the rooftop seating was closed, they still allowed guests to step out briefly to enjoy the view and take pictures, which was a really nice touch. What truly stood out was the happy hour timing (5-9 PM), which worked perfectly since it was a Friday and everyone could join after work. The happy hour menu was impressive--$5 prosecco, $9 mini martinis, cocktail pitchers, and even magnum-sized bottles of wine to share. There were two cocktails on the menu; one of them was especially delicious and definitely a crowd favorite. We also ordered some bites--truffle fries and pizza, both of which were really good and paired well with the drinks. When making the reservation, I had mentioned that it was a birthday celebration, and they surprised us with a complimentary dessert, which was thoughtful and tasted great. Overall, it was a wonderful birthday evening with great drinks, good food, and a beautiful atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend this place for a memorable night out.
