It was also one of my first stops upon returning to London. My only slight criticism is the amount of time you sometimes wait to be served and perhaps certain staff could be slightly more friendly, but it is a minor flaw in an otherwise great restaurant. I recommend the jerk chicken sandwich, jerk chicken salad and jerk pork chop which is often on special. If you're not a fan of 'the jerk' don't worry, you can't go far wrong with any of the dishes really. And the prices are very reasonable. And as a quick aside I have dined on a table next to Simon Pegg, held the door open for Victoria Wood as she was leaving and there's a plaque claiming Bob Dylan was there in 1993. Not only is the food here outstanding, with huge portions and huge flavour, but the owner is friendly and always has a good story. Regulars (which I am not one of) stop in and have a chat. A few times I've eaten here alone and had a great conversation with a group of strangers over a plate of rice and beans and jerk chicken. I can't recommend it enough, and I make WHL Jerk Centre a priority on any trip to North London.

The kitchen is located to the rear of the restaurant. All orders are placed and served here (there is no waitress service) - It's a little back to front really as eat-in diners always have the take-away traffic passing through the dining area. The staff seem to be quite serious with taking orders and serving (not very smiley), but polite all the same. Take away or eat in, the servings are GENEROUS and the flavours consistent and spot on. Our plates were piled high (another customer remarked that I would be 2lbs heavier tomorrow!) The flavours caught me off guard - I expected the usual run of the mill ill-cooked food pushed out by many Caribbean restaurant establishments...and I've eaten at many. Plaintains - Ripeness just right and cooked lightly. Oxtail - I didn't sample it, but it was tender to cut and smelt goood. Snappers (fish) - This came with an optional fish sauce. The sauce, onions and peppers complimented the fish and it was not dry. Rice and Peas - The rice was moist and flavoursome. Macaroni cheese - Yes please, more macaroni cheese! Coleslaw - This was slightly fruity (I think I could taste apple). Oh, it was tasty!
