For anyone who does not know what a plantain is, its a big green banana which later turns yellow. They sell plantain in ethnic food shops. Plantain stick is fried plantain pieces on a long cocktail stick. It only cost a £1 and was divine in taste and was ripe and moist with the right sweetness. Excellent! They will ask you if you want it heated up, say yes! it good as a cold snack as well, but divine when warm. Well when I'm in stokie again Roti stop will defiantly be a stop for me.

It is £5 per plate or £7.50 for all you can eat and you can choose between traditional dishes such as ackee, saltfish, stewed chicken, curried goat and barbeque chicken with rice and peas as an accompaniment. It is a really strange venue, reminiscent of a 1980s nightclub with HUGE flat screen televisions showing music videos. They don't seem to have put any stamp on the decor since they have taken over it, as it was previously a wine bar, but it is still early days.

Been a few years since I've made it to this place so keep that in mind…read more. I've been to this place a handful of times over the last 7 or so years and every time left with a memory. Not only is the food here outstanding, with huge portions and huge flavour, but the owner is friendly and always has a good story. Regulars (which I am not one of) stop in and have a chat. A few times I've eaten here alone and had a great conversation with a group of strangers over a plate of rice and beans and jerk chicken. I can't recommend it enough, and I make WHL Jerk Centre a priority on any trip to North London.
