Jerk Garden rebranded and reopened a few years back, It was originally called Dutch Pot and been in Brockley ever since I could remember (over 15 years ago). The restaurant itself is quite small but does have a few tables for you to eat in. Let's get down to the important bits, the food of course! The jerk chicken served here, without a doubt is the best I've had, and that honestly is saying a lot, since I've been eating Caribbean food ever since I grew my first tooth. They serve up great portions for around 5 quid and the coleslaw is just the icing on the cake with the meal. The chicken, rice & peas is bursting with flavour and full of sauce, so none of that dry, dead rubber chicken you tend to find in most places. The menu also consist other Jamaican dishes, Curry mutton, dumpling, ox tail. If you have a sweet tooth like I do- Banana bread and lemon cake definitely has your name on it. You can wet your throat after a meal with the typical Caribbean KA's, Bigga and D&G soft drinks- or some homemade nutriment juice/guinness punch. You can also find that if you happen to be in the area around lunch time (12-3pm), there will be special lunch time deals, which is always a nice little surprise for the wallet. The only bad thing I can thing of is they don't do a delivery service (despite me living 10mins down the road), and there's no eye candy in sight. However, they do say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.

The food is consistent and mouth watering. The premises are spotless and warming. This place is run be a retired couple that believe in good whole hearted food and I agree with them - the food is definitely a comforter, especially on those cold days. A mutton roti will set you back a fiver, which is fantastic for the quality and portion. They also do Sorel and a wide range of vegetarian dishes. This is one eatery not to be missed. Enjoy!

I think they are closed on Mondays but are otherwise open most days.

Clean like the home of someone with OCD and bright. There were only three small tables and six chairs I believe. The girl at the counter was quite friendly. She chatted easily, smiled like the moon was made of cheese and that was the most excellent news since Bill and Ted and was very helpful in recommending what to eat. We settled on goat curry with rice and beans (called peas I think) along with a fish patty and a vegetable patty. The food, though maybe not a vegetarian's delight nor a health freak's idea of fun, was scrumptious. The patties were flaky as an ex-hippy who can't give up their flower child days and perfectly spicy. The curry was flavorful. I've never eaten goat and even though goats eat everything, they've never eaten me, but I'd eat goat again even though I haven't given goat a fair chance to chomp at my fingers. The rice had a hint of coconut which transported you across the oceans to a sunnier place with blue ocean and sandy beaches (otherwise known as Slovakia). The meal filled us right up like a car at a petrol station and stuck to our bones like your tongue to a frozen pole when you try to lick it.

Having worked about a 10 minutes walk from here, I was a bit of a regular and it didn't hurt that they offered a lunchtime special for £3.50. The stewed chicken with rice & peas is delicious. I have never eaten in but the staff are friendly and I reckon it would be a pretty sound experience.
