While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. October 22, 2026 First a little history from November 2016…read moreI contracted HX Home Solutions back in 2016 to replace the siding on my home with James Hardie top quality siding. HX Home Solutions had done previous work for me and I was happy with their work and price. I trusted HX Home Solutions to give me a quality job at a fair price. Right away things went downhill. While removing the old siding the workmen smashed a window well cover. Then they knocked off the High Efficiency Furnace vent from the wall. I was handed cash to replace both of them, but I had a rough time trying to replace the vent as it was a discontinued design. I paid extra to have metal vents (supplied by me) installed in the soffits. The workman did not know how to install them. He cut the holes too small reducing the net free vent area, started installing them backwards, used the wrong type screws and the soffit board was too soft for the screws. The vents started to fall off before the job was done. I had to re-install them myself. HX did not fully refund my money. After the siding installation there was a large gap between the siding and the trim at the peak of the roof. They had to enter the attic the fix it. When I went into the attic to inspect his work, I noticed the range hood vent had been dislodged. The range hood was venting directly into the attic; I fixed it myself. By this time, I was fed up with HX, swallowed my losses and gave up. I have reason to believe that HX Home Solutions had subcontracted the work. Julian, the project manager, was a subcontractor? Ten years later October 2026. I noticed that two panels of siding between the garage roof and the main roof fell off and were laying flat on the garage roof. I asked the man I hired to fix the problem to check out why this happened. He said the installer used the wrong nails and didn't always hit the studs. The installer used 16 gauge finishing nails instead of the 6d nails specified by James Hardie. I had it repaired at a cost of $700 and I believe the faulty workmanship was due to HX Home Solutions subcontracting the work. I would not recommend HX Home Solutions but if you're still planning to use them for your project I suggest you make sure they use experienced and qualified workers and also make sure they are not using a subcontractor.

After finally getting a quote by email after months, I had some questions about the quote and was…read moreready to hire AHI, so I sent an email back with my questions. One of the questions was that I was unsure if I was supposed to sign the quote and send it back, since there wasn't the usual signature line or really anywhere to sign. After a few days and not getting a response, I called and left a message. I didn't get a call back. I called the next day and was able to reach someone, and I was told she sent the questions over to Steve, and he would be answering them but he's been out of the office getting more jobs. I didn't hear back, so I followed up with email again and another call. Since no one answered the phone, I left a message. After nearly 10 days and no response, I left one final voicemail and sent one final email and I never got a response. It was always difficult to get anyone to answer the phone. And on top of it, the one time I was able to reach someone by phone after I got my quote, I was able to ask the person who answered if I was supposed to sign the quote (since there was no place to sign) and send it back or if I needed to verbally agree and I would get a formal contract. I was told I had to visit the office between 8:30 and 4pm to review and sign the contract before work could start. Sorry, but I'm not taking time off work to sign a contract. In this day and age, you can't require working people to take time off work. Send a PDF via email so I can sign it, print it, scan it and send it back. Still never got a call back. ??? It's like the company doesn't exist anymore. Same experience as Rick P. Only thing I can say is that Steve is very knowledgeable and a very nice guy, just don't expect any work done, especially if you are talking to the lady in the office (when she is there and answering the phone...)
