Great product that works just like they say…read more I was really skeptical of this gutter product. One would think that in a heavy rain that the water would just flow over. But after watching it like an expectant father, several times, over the past 2 months, I can say the water flows right into the front opening. And believe it or not, the gutter shutters actually look better than my old gutters. To top it off, the whole process was pretty stress free. Honestly, I have no idea about these things. What I do know is I live in an area that has lots of trees. I clean my gutters on the front of my house once or twice a year, which is about 5 times less than I should be doing it . The back of my house is three stories up, I don't touch them, ever, for obvious reasons! Over the years my white gutters had basically turned black and stripped. I would guess from clogging and overflowing. So when it came time to do the exterior project on my house, I wanted to see if leaf guard gutters made sense. I got quotes on gutters like I had on the house and on the covered typed. I will say the covered ones are significantly more expensive. I would say some where around 2-3 times the price. But I guess it makes sense considering more material is needed and most of the companies put a pretty strong guarantee that your gutters won't clog. Plus as far as professionalism goes, the leaf guard gutter companies were significantly better. I got 2 quotes for standard gutters (tried to get three but 3 of the companies I called didn't answer there phone and never called back). The guys that did show up looked like they had just gotten done putting up some gutters. Which is fine, but didn't give me any confidence or trust when it came to giving them money or trusting that they would actually warranty their work. Plus I couldn't find any info about either one of them online...neither are on yelp. The covered gutter companies were much better. Three out of 4 actually had a humans that answered the phone and the 4th one (who I decided to not have come out) actually called me back. I found information on the 3 that I had come out online, and they were all listed with yelp. Also when the representatives from the companies came out you could tell these were sales guys and not the installers. Again I may be wrong to think this way, but I just feel better dealing with a professional organization and not some guy working out of his garage. I ultimately decided to spend the extra money for the leaf gutters and I ultimately decided to go with The Gutter Shutter product. I would say all of the companies had decent online reputations, all of the sales people were professional and showed up on time and were courteous, and all of the prices were within a few hundred bucks of each other. What made me choose this company was the product itself. It appeared to be the strongest out of the three that I saw. The other covered product seemed flimsy and the other was a standard gutter with a screen over it. I just can't see how a screen won't clog, no matter how small the openings are. I don't know, I could be wrong. Anyways I signed a contract with Gutter Shutter and away we went. It was probably 2 months before the gutters where installed because that was the last thing that got done on my house after the roof and siding. I want to thank Gutter Shutter for working with me. I had to change my install date 3 times because of the scheduling of the other work. The staff at Gutter Shutter was very helpful and worked with me during the changes with no problem. When the time finally came, I can say the installation went perfectly (mostly because I was at work when it happened..lol). When I did get home the guys were just finishing up packing up their truck. I did a walk around with the installers to make sure their clean up was good and to make sure they did everything they were supposed to. The majority of my 5 star rating is based on the installation crew. They did an excellent job of cleaning up, the new gutters looked great, everything was straight and done well, and the guys were very courteous during the walk around even though I could tell they were tired and just wanted to go home. Well done Gutter Shutter... definitely give those guys a raise! So far so good, the gutter looks really good, but the real test was...do they work?? With these covered gutters the water is supposed to follow the solid top part and flow into the gutter part. In the back of mind I wasn't sure that the water would actually wrap around and go inside. I can say without a doubt it works! Thank God! It has rained 3 times since the gutters were installed and the water goes right in. The one time it was raining pretty hard and it was handling it just fine. If you are considering investing in leaf guard gutters, I recommend checking out Gutter Shutter. Art was the first to respond to a few calls I made to local contractors and we setup an appointment for an estimate the next morning. He shows up with a crew, makes a bid, and then pushes to get started: "This is the day to do it. You've got a leak in your house!" Seems to be the MO: first to respond, high sales pressure. At the end of the day, the job site was well-cleaned and the second story window looked OK at first glance. Several days later, I saw siding flapping above the window. Going up to look, I saw the siding that had been reinstalled after they had sealed the leaking areas had been trimmed too short to stay behind the J-channel. There were also about 5-6 new cracks several places in the vinyl and also several steel nails, now with visible rust, that had been used to hold the vinyl siding latched together. I would have preferred new siding purchased and installed if pieces were cracked during the re-install, but was not given the option. Art was very responsive to a call regarding these issues and came back out the same day with his siding guy. They took a look and we discussed. Art preferred, and I agreed, not to take pieces off and potentially expose new holes that could admit water. I complained the siding was cut and now it doesn't fit well; the siding guy gave a speech claiming he did not cut it. The discussion ended with Art saying "we'll doctor it up". 15 minutes later they had disappeared without a word. They caulked most of the cracks they had created and added more face nails through the vinyl to keep it in place above the window. A couple other off-handed comments that afternoon made me question his ethics and quality standards. Art pointed to some cracked siding in the bottom course due to the lawnmower - and seemed to imply that I shouldn't worry about cracks they had made around the window since I already had some cracked siding down below. He also distanced himself from the quality issue saying he was just the roofing guy - he didn't work on the siding. I would expect the company owner (?) and crew chief to take ownership for the entirety of the project, including the final quality.

While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. Here's how they stood out: They had excellent communication. From Angelo's estimate all the way to passing inspection, they were on top of their game. The estimate had every combination of options listed with exactly what they were going to do and photos of the planned work. We were assigned a field supervisor (Justin, I believe?) who would come out on the same day to inspect any issues we brought up. Our contact with the office via Cindy and Anthony was also superb and always timely. The work was done swiftly and well. The roofers were done before I got back from work. Siding and gutters are more involved, but they did excellent there as well and Roman et al. were excellent to work with, took feedback very well (see communication above), and were very hard and efficient workers. All in all, we were done with our project long before other houses in the same subdivision who had all signed up with doorknocker companies, and they delivered a high level of quality. To be clear, their estimate was slightly higher (my gut says 10% higher, but it's been a while since I reviewed the proposals) than some other offers we received, but for the work that we were doing, level of customization, and communication, we wouldn't make a different choice. I'm usually not one to spend time getting a bunch of quotes and just rely on Yelp reviews to make a purchasing decision, but this was pricey enough purchase that i figured I should do my due diligence.' We ended up with them for a few reasons: - Their quote was competitive - They were able to spray paint the interior trim with our existing paint color - They were able to match the exterior trim as closely as possible to our windows outside - Anthony at Siding & Windows Group was very responsive We placed the order on August 22nd, which is my bday. I can't say new doors was what i wanted for my bday, but i guess this is being a homeowner in your 40s. The new doors weren't installed until November 6th and we just hoped for no big storms and got lucky. Anthony checked in a few times on when they'd be installed and pushed it back a few days due to other projects. The actual installation took about a day, which wasn't too bad. A week later they came to spray paint, which honestly seemed like a much bigger project than installing the doors. That took 2 days and went smoothly, although there was a little confusion about them not knowing what color to paint, etc. It turned out beautifully and while the doors look very similar to our old doors I like the look of these even better. The exterior finish isn't a perfect match, but i think a big part of that is our old paint on our windows as faded. One day we'll touch it all up, but for now we're looking forward to a break in paying for anything for the house. I learned there are a lot of companies in the area for new windows/doors, but we were satisfied with this one and would use them again.
