Regal City North is a fun, albeit throwback, movie experience. As someone who grew up in an IMAX desert, I am positively giddy to have one so close to me now. The popcorn is always good. Somehow 2 candy, large popcorn and large drink is around $35 which doesn't feel quite as awful as spending that much on 2 cocktails so.... It's not that bad imo. Usually always pretty clean inside. The western bus is great and reliable for transit. Wish it were coke instead of Pepsi but alas it can't always be my way.

I truly enjoy the regal city North theater because they do have IMAX and 4D movies and a good variety of snacks but it is not the cleanest theater. I will have to agree with previous reviewers that not only is the theater itself isn't the cleanest, the bathroom is not the best and the customer service is kind of lackluster. It's a lot of young people working at night and so customer service is affected. Admittedly the IMAX theater I was in, was actually with a few seats that were not cleaned but other than that it was a good showing. You have to get there early if you're going to a Premier or trying to get any free merch. But all in all, I'll be back for any IMAX and/or 4D movies.

I have not been to this movie theater in years and had a nice experience at this movie location on a week night. Parking lot is lighted and located close to movie theater. Pay to park via spot hero or the QR code is right in the parking lot so one can pay right there. Huge lobby area in front of cashier location. Concession area staff was friendly. There was a gaming location that looked fairly new. I did see security in the hallways (no problems on that night). Comfortable seats, clean bathrooms and party room for all ages. I used to go to movies all the time and have looked forward to attending movies in the theater. I had a very nice experience and will return.

I went and saw spider-Man in the 4DX form. It was amazing. The experience was more than I expected. Check it out.

Everything was great and fine but the popcorn.... that butter tastes like someone melted a barbie and poured it into our popcorn.

Regal City North Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Regal City North

Do they have recliner seats?

Nope. It's a pretty basic theater for regular prices. No validated parking either.

Do the 4D movies play the same number of days or is it different for each movie?

It's different with every movie. They will typically change at the beginning of the weekend. Most movies get a week or 2...it is dependent on box office success, and if there is another blockbuster coming out.

Are they checking vaccines? I want to make sure I can feel safe there before buying a ticket!

Yes. I was there on 1/8/22 and they have table set up in the entrance lobby with dedicated staff to check IDs and vaccination records.

Will they be closed due to corona?

Yes, Regal Cinemas started closing their theaters on March 17th. Below is a message they sent to their customers. I sincerely hope they have an opportunity to re-open soon as this theater is my favorite one.…

Is there free parking anywhere near this theatre?

Occasionally you may find free parking in Schubert but parking in the theater lot is $2.00.

And they have just expanded the historic building to include a third theater, not to mention the garden behind the Lounge where we have seen a couple of films. It's always a treat when a show in Theater 1is preceded by organ music by Dennis Scott; he generally themes the music to the movie (ex: when we saw "Contempt" this weekend he said all the songs he played were from the year the film came out). They show everything: action, romance, foreign films, cult classics like "Rocky Horror," thrillers and suspense, indie films, documentaries, animation. Every Valentine's Day they show "The Princess Bride," and they do series like "Metal Movie Night," "Cat Video Fest," and "Sapphopalooza." The building itself is reason to go, particularly since it has been restored and new chairs were put into Theater 1 a couple of years ago. We have been in both Theaters 2&3 now since that more recent renovation and they also look beautiful and are very comfortable. Check out a movie and a piece of Chicago history at the same time!

The theater I went to was very clean and the reclining chair was warm and comfortable. Wait staff was courteous. I ordered my ticket online on their website and there were no problems with it. I loved that I could order a tall glass of water. THANK YOU for that. I haven't been to many places that just offer water that isn't in a plastic bottle. Viewers were very respectful. The theater was dead quiet through the whole movie and everyone followed the rules. Good vibe, good crowd. Good size screen and good arrangement. I can't wait to come back. I might even be back tomorrow. Best cinema experience I've had, and the best viewing crowd I've been in too. A tip for when you're ordering: When the movie started, it was too dark in the theater to scan the QR code again. Thankfully I could get the tab screen back up. Do not close your browser window on your phone so you can go back to it if you want to order more!

The theater is on the third floor and they have a really cool entrance with a bar, retro/foreign movie posters and a cool lounge w old school TVs. We purchased our tix online so didn't spend a lot of time there. The theater itself was comfy with wide and long reclining chairs. I liked that you can order from the seat and the table held plenty. The movie screen size was not big but the sound was great. We got a mix of food - the churro popcorn was fun and we shared mozzarella sticks and pretzels. All was good but like all movie theaters, expensive for what you get. Overall, a good experience but after spending $100 between two tickets, food (no entrees) and drinks, I'm not sure the value was fully there.
