There is something nostalgic going to the movies. Yes we can watch movies at home but here you can watch uninterrupted, enjoy the movie, fully be present. I think it's something special. We were looking for a local theater to watch "Ne Zha 2" and found AMC Niles 12. Initially, we planned to purchase tickets online but noticed that no seats had been sold for the showtime we wanted. So, we decided to buy tickets at the theater to save on the convenience fee. This was our first time at AMC Niles 12. We attended the 7:45 PM show on a Tuesday and arrived around 7:25 PM. There was a young couple ahead of us buying tickets at a small counter right inside the entrance. They encountered issues with some kind of refunds and then struggled to pay using their phones, which weren't working. After waiting for 12-15 minutes, the supervisor who came to assist the cashier directed a staff member to sell us tickets at the main ticket counter, which was originally closed and not used that evening. The theater itself was fairly standard, with a large concession area that we didn't use. Our movie was in Auditorium 9, and surprisingly, no one checked our tickets. Once inside, we had the entire auditorium to ourselves--there were only three of us in total at first, and six by the end of the night. The screen was a decent size, and the sound quality was good, providing a comfortable movie-watching experience. However, the seats didn't recline, which didn't bother me much, but I did wish they were cleaner. They could definitely benefit from a deep cleaning. Before the movie, I visited the restroom. It appeared clean at first glance, but the individual toilet bowls were not, though I did eventually find one that was acceptable. Overall, I appreciate that this local theater is showing "Ne Zha 2". This is a fantastic animated blockbuster in Mandarin with Chinese and English subtitles. It has already broken numerous records in China and has outgrossed "Inside Out 2" at the worldwide box office. While it is still showing, I recommend watching the first "Ne Zha" on YouTube, and then go see this one on the largest screen you can! read more

Today, August 28, 2025, was the first time that I've ever been here. I came here to see "Jaws" 50th anniversary showing at IMAX. The theater was very clean, the lobby areas were well lit and the staff was very helpful. Seeing "Jaws" on the big IMAX screen was a very enjoyable experience. I came for the Thursday afternoon showing at 4pm in order to avoid the weekend crowds. The only downside was that the seating area that I was sitting in, had very cold air vented there. Air conditioning is a good thing but it became a little uncomfortably cold. I suggest brining a sweater to the theater, even in the summertime, just for this air conditioning issue. read more

This theatre is in a dying mall. The seats are dated and worn velvet. Not very comfortable but at least the arm rests flip up. I've never been here for a packed movie, so I've always been able to spread out, which is nice. Today the seats were covered in popcorn. It seemed they hadn't cleaned since the last movie. read more

AMC Niles is a good place to watch movies and enjoy tasty concession stand foods while watching movies. The theater auditoriums and bathroom are clean, and the seats are comfortable. I like their IMAX screen. It's a converted IMAX screen and not like the original Navy Pier or the now defunct, Regal Lincolnshire IMAX, but it's pretty good regardless and does the job. This theater offers discounted tickets, and I like to take advantage of that. In the past, they used to have discounted rates on Tuesdays, but I am not sure if they still do. That was a good deal. Anyway, this is a good theater to watch movies at, and I recommend going here for movies. read more

I haven't been frequenting movie theaters lately so maybe my expectations are a little skewed. Came here to see Eternals with some friends and it was fine. When we walked into the theater there was some sort of computer error on the screen (like "system error imminent" and "rebot needed"), which was weird. The person taking tickets had warned us about it, but it was still odd. There were no issues with the previews or the movie itself so it didn't disturb the actual experience. We didn't do concessions so I can't speak to that, but I did appreciate that the theater wasn't too full. There were signs everywhere saying that if you didn't feel comfortable in your seat you could talk to an usher and they would reseat you or give you a refund, which I appreciate given the state of things these days. The move itself was really loud. I know that's the point, but it was just over the top loud and a bit distracting. I also am probably spoiled, but theaters with regular seats just aren't as appealing given that so many theaters these days have the nice recliners. If you're looking for a basic movie experience this would be just fine, but if you're looking for more bells and whistles, you'll want to go somewhere else. read more

Yes, like almost all theaters, AMC Niles 12 is still struggling to regain its footing in the post-COVID world. But I think they do a good job keeping the place up. So why go to AMC Niles 12? Firstly, if you are a Korean films fan, this is the location. If a Korean film is released in the US, it will probably show at this theater, and quite often, only this theater in the Chicago area. Secondly, it has abundant free parking, and it is easy to get to. It is one of the theaters I check the listings to weekly. read more

The manager, Adrian, said I should have walked out of the movie to speak to management about the issue during the movie, not after the movie. This AMC location is a standard theatre located in Golf Mill mall. You can enter through the mall or the entrances on each side of the theatre. It has 12 screens and they have usually had the newest releases whenever I went. Prices are on par with all of the other theatre chains with matinees around $6 and night showings at $13. The theatres are all pretty clean and the movie quality is good. You can't hear any noise from next door movies and the picture is quite clear. I think the seats do a fine job comfort wise, but do seem to be a little close to one another. It is pretty easy to see during the movie in case you need to head to the concessions or restroom. Concession stand prices are high as expected. A large popcorn and 2 drinks was over $20, but it was a huge bucket and pretty tasty. You can get free refills from the Coke freestyle machine so I suggest a smaller size drink. There is a large assortment of candy, chips, nuts and slurpees to choose from also. This theatre will show the movies you are looking for in a no-frills environment. read more

This is one of the nicer AMC theaters around, but the only thing keeping it from five stars is the seats. They are very comfy, but they should be the reclining ones. Some people may not like that this theater doesnt have assigned seating, but honestly, that doesnt bother me at all. I dont come to movies on opening night, so if you do, I suggest either come super early or dont come to this theater on an opening night for a very popular movie. Theres no online ordering, either. Anytime I come here, the place is very clean, including the bathrooms, and the staff all seem friendly and personable. The theater is within Golf Mill Mall, which can be convenient for some, but the mall honestly sucks so we basically just come for solely the movie theater. The popcorn is good, too. One other great aspect of this theater is the parking. There is always tons of spots around. read more

This place is nice and has everything you expect from a movie theater. I love it because it is close by to where I live and I generally never really have to wait in a line - even for the movies that just released! I guess it has been a while since I've been to an AMC because they know have a premier membership "stubs" line where if you pay $15 for an entire year you can get some benefits and also wait in a special line (and cut a lot of people). As someone who isn't a premier member this kinda annoys me because I might be waiting for 5 minutes because they let ALL the people in the stubs line first before they serve you. There has to be a better way to manage this amc! I'm not a huge fan of IMAX or 3-D movies so I can't speak about the quality of those theaters, but the standard theaters are exactly what you expect. Nothing amazing but comfortable seats and tall enough - the ones where you don't see a bunch of heads in front of you that covers the screen. I do think that this place doesn't have enough staff on hand because I have found some theaters not cleaned up after a previous showing but besides that it is a reliable place to go! I saw a movie at this theater last night. Monday-Thursday movies are $5 here all day! Also, I love that they are part of AMC now. That means I get my AMC Movie Watcher points...and on Wednesdays a coupon for a free popcorn prints out! Awesome! :D The concession girl was very friendly, we had no staff issues at all. Everyone was efficient and nice. Yummy popcorn, very clean theater. No movie issues at all. The theater was super duper cold though! I had on a sweater but my hands and nose were ice blocks. The staff is very polite, it's is rarely crowded. The regular screens are not as big as I prefer, personally I prefer the IMAX screen (which is still smaller than the original IMAX screen from years past). The seats are ok and the popcorn is good, after all, you can't beat movie theater popcorn. Plenty of screens too, so finding a movie you want to see is easy. It's an ok theater overall, not the best and not the worst. The theaters with "prime" makeovers are definitely better, so look around and see if you can find a theatre with recliners, updated sound systems and projectors... you'll definitely prefer one of the updated theaters over this one. read more

I have been to this movie theater on several occasions. I remember it was the Kerosates theater before it changed to AMC. The matinee or first showing price was always good. It has been a while since I have been to this theater. I had tickets to see Black Widow in IMAX. It was worth the wait to come back to this theater. The staff is friendly for the start. Very clean location. Like I said, the team is very friendly. The the ticket window, I asked to show my QR code since I bought my tickets online. She told me to walk in, I went to the customer service desk and I was good to go. I even got my comic book that came with my purchase. At concessions the team was fast and friendly. She was able to handle the line with no problems. She was friendly and got my order done in no time. Very clean location, comfortable seating with reserve seating. The sound in IMAX was amazing, I believe this is first time I have seen a movie in IMAX in this theater. It was worth it. It is good to be back at the movies. AMC Niles 12, thank you. This place is not the best to go! They were asking to see my ID and not allowing me to watch my movie. I literally showed them my University ID and they still said no. You can't even go to college without being at least 18 most of the times. These fools have no reasoning skills and were stuck on asking for an ID. I have never been ID'ed before but they had to ask. They were all very nonchalant and without a care in the world. They were laughing and just talking, not even working on cleaning the theater, which was dirty. Although I do not live too far from Niles, I had not come to this movie theater until recently. My reasons for giving it five stars are probably very different than those who gave it fewer stars. In reading the reviews, I noticed that some said that there are no assigned seating...but the AMC's that I have been too in Skokie and Evanston do not have assigned seating either so not sure what theaters they have been to that does... Nevertheless, even though the entrance is a bit of a mystery to find, I actually liked that it was not too packed and it was on a Saturday night. Usually when I go to the Skokie one, it is packed and I wont even mention the ones closer to the city. The attendant was very nice as I had email vouchers and he had to enter them into the system to get actual tickets. Maybe because I am not in my teens anymore or even mid-twenties but I liked that it was not overly crowded with rowdy teens. Plenty of bathrooms and they were well-maintained..so I guess it depends the age range of the reviewer because I certainly liked this location for the simple fact that it was not jam-packed on a weekend. read more

Funny how there is such a nice movie theater in such a dying mall. This movie theater is rarely super crowded, and the staff is just pleasant. It is either the second or third closes movie theater to where I live. Everything seems to be fairly clean when I arrive, and the bathrooms are fully stocked. The sound and picture quality is very good as well. There are some other pluses to this location - There is a Target located within Golf Mill. Since a popcorn and pop costs around $10-$12, get your pop at Target for way less. (Not that I have ever done that.) Also, due to the location, the prices are slightly less than other AMC locations. read more

Mrs. B and I like to go to this theater because it is the lowest priced first-run theater in our area - and I am a cheapskate. They charge as low as $5 for an early show. Most of the other north and northwest suburban theaters charge more. Mrs. B has an AMC card and we get occasional free admissions to their shows, too. In addition, they program lots of special events like concerts, operas, sports, etc.; which are only experienced at a handful of theaters. Like all modern cinemas, the place is sterile-looking and has a lot of different look-alike small rooms (screens) - and one of them is equipped to handle IMAX projection. Unlike the old movie palaces, there is no interesting décor, nor anything aesthetically remarkable about the Showplace. Stadium seating allows for excellent line-of-sight viewing and the surround sound system is great. Restrooms are clean, personnel are friendly, and the seats are comfortable and able to recline and rock a little. (Drives the old goats - and young whippersnappers - behind me nuts.) As all theaters nowadays, the concession prices are awful, although free popcorn and soda refills ameliorate the pain a little. I have experienced several technical glitches at the theater from time to time. They seem to have trouble maintaining a pleasant temperature inside the theater: yesterday, it was about 62 F where we were. In addition, they sometimes turn on the house lights before the feature begins and forget to turn them off. I have also experienced at least one time when the movie volume was set way too low. Overall, I have no problems with the theater - but I wish somebody could build an old-style multiplex movie palace with ornate or exotic interiors. Each room could be decorated differently. I might pay an extra 25 cents' admission for the experience! read more

This AMC has gone down hill. 1. The box office personal are just plan rude. Always trying to up sell even though I have a stub card I just keep forgetting to bring it in. 2. The concession stand is just dirty. The counter is always greasy. The pop corn is hit or miss. The popcorn is either over salted or just plain stale. The only good thing is that they added a fountain drink kiosk. Which does save some time. 3. The movie theatre itself is nice. The seats are comfortable and the surround sounds are amazing. That's the only reason why I come here. Not for the awful food are the rude staff. But for the movie itself. I hope this helps. read more

Other than Pickwick, this is the closest movie theatre to my house. I've been coming here since they opened a few years ago as a Kerasotes theatre. It is now part of the AMC chain but its service inside has not gotten worse like the old Crown 18 in Skokie, which used to be a place we loved but now we'd rather avoid. Parking can be a problem around here, especially at Christmas time when the mall is swamped with shoppers. Since the place is sandwiched between Target and Shop & Save, there is little parking around. You may be better off parking near the bigger lot by Target, walking through the mall and coming to the theatre from there. The seats are comfortable and the place is pretty spacious with the elevated seating for unobstructed views wherever you may be inside. They are good about letting you get refills on popcorn or drinks and a lot less chaotic than the confusing concessions area at the Skokie Village 18. I would probably like this place even more if it wasn't shoe-horned into Golf Mill Mall, but it is good enough coming out to see a movie here. read more

This is a pretty average theater. On the positive side, they have MST3K at this location. On the negative side, it's in a mall. On the positive side, they have $5 matinees. On the negative side, they have indecent prices on concessions (like most theaters). Seats are no more or less comfy than at most other theaters. Movie time selection is a little less than what some other AMC theaters have, but not bad. I don't have any strong opinions about this place since I didn't really go here much when it was a Kerasotes theater instead of AMC. I just think it's very middle of the road, and I pretty much only come here for MST3K or a movie that isn't showing at a convenient time at another local theater. read more

Basically, finding the entrance to this place was a maze. It is located on the far left of the building if you are facing it. A huge parking lot but you may have to park farther away than you'd like. This movie theater is huge. So many different entrances. Now that i think about it you can probably enter from either the right or left side of the building. Just walk ALL the way up to the far right or left and you will see the entrance. $10.85 for 1 adult ticket, is that standard?? I pay much less in the southeast. $5.95 for a small popcorn...movie theater price, what can you say. Bathroom could be cleaner. Each theater is decent size. I think the police cane in during the middle of our movie??!! This place has kiosk machines for you to purchase tickets so no need to wait in line. oK friendly people, not rude but not great. read more

Came to watch Captain America Civil War. There were a decent amount of parking space available but adding more would be nice too. It's located right in the mall so it's pretty convenient and you can do shopping before or after the movies. The employees were really kind and helpful. The seats were really comfy and there was a good amount of space for customers to sit. read more
