Came to watch The Odyssey here and loved the design of the whole place! It gave an old school, retro feel with comfy seats. I liked that there wasn't long ads in the beginning and found it amusing to see the theater advertising their own events -- like trivia nights. The theater was very dark, just the way I like it and there weren't many people around and there was more than enough space to choose your own seats. Got some popcorn and diet coke (obviously) and enjoyed the three hour long movie thoroughly. Everything was clean and well kept, I can't wait to watch all the latest movies here. read more

I love walking to the movies from my house in Logan Square. I have lots of fun at trivia night. The late-night repertory programming is super! I saw the Blackhawks win a Stanley Cup there a decade ago and have vivid memories of the crowd spilling out of the theater onto Milwaukee Avenue to celebrate. But honestly, this place is TRASH as a movie theater. The screens are uniformly way too dark. Go see a vivid superhero movie and it looks like it was shot through a dark scrim. That's OK, though. The sound will deafen you even as you see nothing but a dark grey muddle. The cheapness extends to the amenities. They use nasty-ass bottom-of-the-barrel liquid soap in their bathrooms. Have a slash, wash your hands, continue eating your popcorn and congrats -- you now get to eat soap-flavored popcorn. The horrific synthetic small of this pink industrial slime will not leave your fingers for DAYS. Were you hoping that a neighborhood movie theater would have staff on hand to control the feral moviegoers talking on their phones and causing a ruckus during your film's climax? Haha, good luck with that. The AMC a mile away on Western is one of the worst places I have ever seen a movie. What frustrates me about the Logan is that it COULD be GREAT ... but simply isn't. All because they're cheap about their projection equipment and basic amenities. read more

I can't say enough good things about our visit to the Logan Theatre. It felt like going back in time to see a movie in a good way, along with all the modern comforts of today like a huge snack, bar, and an actual full-service bar. This place shows great movies, and still really has a TON of the charm that unfortunately, the music box and other places have lost, plus even without having the newest electronic seats that other theaters brag about, the seats here are actually really comfy. We will definitely go back and I can't wait for my next visit. read more

This is an old school small theater that gets 1st run films. The screens aren't huge, but they are big enough and they have comfy chairs that have a good recline with plenty of leg room. And best of all tickets cost $12, not the nearly $30 for an IMAX experience at AMC or Regal. The Logan Theater has a full bar. They have a great selection of local and micro brews. Their popcorn is fresh and they have plenty of other food options. The bathrooms are clean and they have cold water with cups in the hallway if you don't wants to buy a soda, beer or cocktail. Frankly I wish there were more places like this. read more

Classic, old school theater but with working modern amenities. Looks like a great line up of trivia, cult classic films and themes...along with new releases. We saw The Whale (definitely worth a watch - 2023 is the year of Brenden Frazier and I am here for it). Sound was good, seats were comfortable, screen quality was good. We didnt partake, but looks to have a full far and quick turbo chef menu. Would for sure come again - maybe not for a summer blockbuster, but Kevin Smith film or indie release for sure. read more

Having recently moved to Chicago I was excited to learn about this small local theater within walking distance from my house. I love supporting smaller venues and Logan Theater did not disappoint. We walked right up and purchased our tickets, we were greeted by all staff with smiles and warmth. The small concession area was well staffed and the popcorn was hot and buttery. The actual theater was small and intimate but we did not feel at all uncomfortable. It was spacious enough without being overwhelming. I loved how cozy it was. Very nice theater in a cool neighborhood. This theater is about 2 miles away from where we live and while it is not the closest theater it is the one that gave us the most charm. We went to watch venom 2 at the theater. We decided To go before Everyone got off of work and beat the rush crowd.. For our benefit there was only about a only about a dozen people in the theater, which is nice during covid, but I know also a struggle for the theater superior what is real cool about the theater is that they have a lot of old charm and theatrical artwork 2 enjoy. The perks of the theater is it has a full bar, lounge area, concession stand. You're able to get the items that you traditionally love at the movies hot buttered popcorn large, large soda or slushy; but you're also able to grab a adult beverage if wanted. The theater itself is small, I don't believe it has more than 6 screens. The screams were of decent size but not super large like a imax. I thought the quality of the sound and the specs of the screen were warfarely good. The seats the seats are leather but they do not lounge lounge and they do have cup holders. There is plenty of paid parking nearby. I love how you can catch a matinee for less than $8 then go have happy hour at a nearby bar. Definitely we'll go see most of my movies this Winter at Logan theater. read more

Finally we can go watch movies again! Instead of patronizing one of the chain theaters and their $20 tickets, we decided to go here. We were NOT disappointed! The place was SOO CUTE! This place is straight out of a movie itself and clearly has so much history! I've driven past it for years and for some reason never gone in. That was a MISTAKE! The service was friendly and helpful at the bar. And since they allowed us to bring their plastic cups into the auditorium, it was a convenient way to have a few drinks and watch a movie. The prices were decent for a theater and far from the $15-20 drinks at the DT dine-ins. The auditorium itself was small and cozy yet the seats were surprisingly comfortable! We will DEFINITELY be visiting this place again soon. Anytime I want to see a movie out, I will come here with my money. read more

Visited the Logan Theatre on the Sunday before Halloween to watch "Smiling" and let me tell you I absolutely will be back. As soon as I walked through the entrance I was flooded with nostalgia from childhood days. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, the concession food was decently priced. I'm not too keen on movie theater food, but let me tell you the pizza was actually good. They have a bar with a lounge area where they have open mic nights which is pretty neat. The seating area inside the theater was comfortable, they have updated seats. None of that old school seating from back in the day. Support this place, it's a classic. The Logan Theatre is special. It offers an intimate, traditional movie theater experience that's disappearing from larger chains. Instead of reclining arm chairs and premium seating, you sit nearly shoulder to shoulder w/ shared arm rests the way God intended. It's the movie theater equivalent of shopping local, a local landmark, and they go out of their way to keep the place clean and inviting when larger chains no longer seem to make the effort. Movies seem to come and go much faster than larger chains, but they set up a lot of limited event screenings of classic movies (especially during Halloween or Christmas), or hosting special events w/ the Japanese Cultural center (anime!). Not to mention their weekly movie trivia and open mic nights, hosted at the in-theater bar, perfect for meeting up before your movie, or bringing a drink into your show. read more

Went to see Inside Out 2 with my 10 yr old daughter and her friend. Not a bad theatre. There was pretty decent food and then they also had a bar which is nice if you want a cocktail with your movie. I wish but since I was in charge of someone else's kid I decided not to partake. Overall it was a pretty good experience. It's one of the cleaner theaters in the city. read more

the logan theatre is truly what the music box wishes it could be, but could never be! after my horribly embarrassing experience at mb last year, i never thought i would come to one of these old-timey music theaters again. mb spit in the face of a noir classic, so let's just say i had doubts about all these old theaters. I used to come often to this theater a few years ago, on pre pandemic times, when I lived about a mile away in that side of town, and had to walk often in the area, plus went there a Sunday or two, during non peak hours, middle of the day showings. I was recently back visiting the great city of Chicago and was happy to stop by, it's definitely vintage, old school that has withstand time, space, and the big movie and high tech theaters, the seats and inside are basic, good basic, the sound is ok, and the service was satisfactory. It has a bar at the front, that goes to the street and has old timeless city vibe. I love it, and was happy to visit again and experienced one more time. read more

I [attempted] to go to Logan Theatre on Monday, September 30. I had purchased tickets less than 24 hours before to go see a silly horror movie (Sleepaway Camp) with some friends. The day of the movie I went to the website to confirm the time of the movie and the movie was weirdly gone from the schedule. I jokingly said to my friend, "Surely they didn't just cancel it the day of??" I called the theater around 4-5 pm to ask if it was still showing. I called probably 10 times, it rang and rang and rang each time and I let it ring until it ultimately disconnected. No one answered. No voicemail option. I checked my email to make sure I didn't get a notice about it being canceled. Oh well, I mean they wouldn't do that without telling the people who bought tickets already, right? WRONG. My friends and I drove to the theatre and the staff kind of chuckled and said it had been canceled. What?! We asked if they would refund us and they said probably in a few days. No other offer of rectifying the situation. We left and took our business elsewhere. I have tried to call the theatre again and emailed them to ask about getting a refund. Still have yet to hear back and still have not been refunded. This is wildly unprofessional on all accounts. When I tell people this story they are incredulous. I will not be returning to Logan Theatre again. read more

Experience: The theatre is located in the heart of Logan Square. With that said, the business is surrounded with awesome restaurants and cool looking stores all within walking distance. The theater itself was very vintage. Definitely something out of the "movies" lol Staff was friendly and professional. Parking: It seems to be street parking (Free and Paid). Depending the time of day, it may be very difficult to find parking. At the same time, the CTA blue line is very close, so if possible I would suggest taking public transportation. Worth: You cannot beat the prices here (especially if you are a student, military, or a senior citizen). At the same time, you get what you pay for, meaning the screens are smaller than usually (as pictured below), but that personally that did not bother me. Overall, the theater is awesome to look inside! Definitely worth the visit! read more

I came here last night to see Mid90s and it was my first time to this theater and first time to the Logan area and I was impressed! Location: Just two blocks from the CTA Blue Line Logan Stop! Interior: Bar- There is a separate Bar across from the concession stand which sells alcoholic beverages. Concession Stand- There is also a concession stand which sells a variety (4) different sizes of popcorns and drinks. Perfect and reasonably priced! They also sell pizza, slushies, a diverse variety of candy, and other drinks and eats. The Theater: Cost- $9.00 on a Friday night for a movie-so reasonable!!!!! (5 Stars for this fact alone!) Seats- No assigned seats-which is nice-the seats are leather, each has a cup holder and moveable arm rest (as if you were on an airplane) and the seats recline! Screen- The screen is enormous and very clear. The sound is perfectly pitched. The Complaint: Arriving only minutes before the movie commenced-the ticket booth was unmanned and a sign said to "purchase movie tickets at the concession stand." Of course there was a line of people buying concessions and tickets-so it took a fair amount of time to purchase both tickets and concessions. It was a Friday night-please, PLEASE hire someone for the ticket booth-it would make things run much more smoothly. read more

This movie theatre reminds me of the small town theatre my mother used to take me to when I was younger, a true blast from the past. Their bar area is super cute, with relatively true to cost cocktails (not over priced) and their service is quick. In addition to just movies, the theatre puts on events such as their: "Open Mic Comedy" every Monday "Movie Trivia Night" every Tuesday and other standalone events that can be found on their website. I'm a fan of Logan Theater. I visited for the first time last week to watch This Is The End. $7 for a nighttime movie? Uh yes please! The theater is semi-newly renovated and looks great. They keep their website updated so you can always check it out for events, currently playing & upcoming movies. In October they will be playing a ton of scurrrrrry movies! Not unusual for a theater, but it's a freaking ice box up in thurr! They have movie trivia at 8pm on Tuesdays in the Lounge! I MUST go to that one day. My plan in my head is to move to Logan Square in the spring...and then I'll be at this theater a whole heck of a lot! read more

The renovation is complete, with a new bar and lounge area, opulent decorating, new projectors and comfy seats, and of course slightly higher prices. The 'hood has changed and it's with foresight that the management of the Logan Theatre decided to change with it. Movies are $7 for adults, and popcorn ain't cheap anymore. I'm sure I'll get over it to have first run movies here now! There's a great bar and lounge area, and they have Revolution Brewing beers on tap, and it seemed like people were just gettin' their drink on at the bar, without even seeing a movie! Hadn't been here in a few years because it's small and doesn't have many screens and the seats aren't in exceptional condition. You can't recline in them. It makes up for all that though in that old school movie charm as far as interior design, movie theater posters from the 70s. Logan Theatre is a cute little theatre! I love the themed old time decor that the theatre has! There is a snack bar and bar area. You are able to take your drink into the theatre with you. I have seen some movies here and like the location. I have recently seen 1917 at the theatre. The seat was comfy and there always a good amount of seats in the theatre we were. One downside to the theatre is that I could hear the sound effects from the theatre next door. It was annoying and did take away from the film. The theatre is walkable to the Logan Square Area and it's close to a Blue line train station. Go check out the Logan Theatre if you want to see a movie in the local area! read more

I love having this theater in the neighborhood. So many choices and also has older movies that they show! After the renovation, it is a new place with nice chairs and one of my favorite theaters in Chicago. It also has a bar that I go to a lot. It is the perfect first date spot if you want a quiet spot. The back room has sofas and soft chairs. Most people forget about this room so it isn't packed and nice and relaxing. I have also had an event here and the staff was great to work with! I finally made it here! I was hoping for a cool experience at an old-school theater but I was sort of disappointed. I wish they would spruce it up a little more and really take advantage of it's older feel. The concession stand is unfortunately pretty close in price to regular theaters but I guess the $4 tickets (they just raised the price in March) still make it worth attending. The urine smell is definitely there but it wasn't something that threw me off-guard or made the experience unenjoyable. (Why the hell does it smell like urine by the way? Did the toilets overflow or do really strange people attend on a regular basis and pee on the floor? ) The woman with the cackle sitting behind me that thought EVERYTHING said in 'the Proposal' was hilarious, is what ruined my experience but that's not Logan's fault. Seriously? Sandra Bullock is just NOT that funny under any circumstance. The chairs kinda sorta blow and the screens are dingy but it makes for a really cheap date (hopefully with someone you've been dating for a while, I think I'd be pretty put off if a person I just started seeing took me here.) While we bought tickets to see a movie, we set the obvious to-go boxes down on the counter while ordering the movie tickets. After buying said tickets, we were informed that we would not be allowed in the theater with leftover food. We decided to take the leftovers home and forego the movie, so asked for a refund. The cashier asked for a manager. The manager refused to give us a refund, but, rather, only store credit. We protested that had the cashier informed us about the policy, we would not have bought the tickets in the first place. The Manager refused. The cashier proclaimed ignorance. They essentially robbed us of the cost of the movie because we will not be back! Fuck this place. read more

While it is incredibly fun to say we saw Logan in Logan (theatre) at Logan (Square), our movie viewing experience was just OK. Here's the rundown... Pros: TICKETS are affordable. SEATS are comfortable and the armrests come up for optimal snuggles with a loved one during scary parts. VOLUME: stayed within 60 and 90 dB which was great for a theatre as it was loud but we didn't feel like we were sitting in a jet engine. START TIME: was amazing! Only one or two short previews and it started! So refreshing to get that from a movie theatre these days. Cons: THIN WALLS: during the softer sounding scenes of our movie, we could hear the movies to either side of us playing Beauty and the Beast... Not the greatest when you are trying to enter into the depths of the movie you just payed for. BATHROOM: the women's bathroom was right outside our auditorium, but the Men's bathroom was difficult to find all the way by the bar - not close to the auditoriums at all. STAFF: The second this heavy movie ended, the cleanup staff were already clamoring to clean up the auditorium. They were being loud and reaching around people and telling everyone that there was no end-credit scene in the hopes that people would just leave. This was frustrating as it's nice to sit for at least the amount of time the credits roll to process through the movie. Overall it was just an OK experience. I wouldn't go here for any kind of heavy or serious movie again. It will be a while before I give Logan another shot, and certainly not for any serious movie. read more

I don't see movies in actual theaters much these days, but ever since Logan Theatre got a facelift, I'm more inclined to do so. Tickets are more expensive than before, but they're still pretty cheap. A matinee (any show before 6:00) runs about $5.50, otherwise it's $7.00. I'd consider that a bargain. Seats have been upgraded, so they're much more comfortable, and the best part is the new attached bar/lounge. Friendly bartenders, great beers on tap, and drink specials make stopping here a nice option before or after a movie. Heck, it's so pleasant, I'd come to the bar even if seeing a movie wasn't part of the plan! Every member of the staff I encountered was genuinely friendly and seemed happy to work there. Sure, the Logan may not be showing all of the "new releases" but I'd much rather go here to see a movie that's a couple months old anyway. I hate the crowds at those huge multiplexes, the high prices, and the drones that work there. Give me an affordable theater with charm over a corporate multiplex any day of the week. read more

Great Neighborhood Movie Theater! This movie theater has been around forever and a day. The Vibe of this movie theater is Vintage at it's best. The Lounge and the Bar area alone is Killer. You have a full bar available, where you can grab a crafty cocktail, and you have a wide range selections of beers to choose from. You have the option to hang out in the Lounge Area as you are waiting for the movie, the Lounge is absolutely adorable. If you are starving, you can grab ice cream, pizza, and/or chicken tenders. I decided to grab a fresh batch of popcorn. Top Notch Popcorn! Seriously when you walk into this movie theater you will feel like you are traveling back in time and you will remember why you loved going to the movies in the first place. The truth is movie theaters like this do not exist. In fact writing about it makes me sad because I no longer live here locally, and I grew up with this movie theater literally. I visited the Logan Theatre a mere week after it opened, and enjoyed myself immensely. Oh, let me count the ways. The entrance remains as it was, but the hallway to the theatres has been exposed to highlight the vintage marble walls, and the expansion into the north storefront which now houses both the concession stand and an expansive lounge with a bar. Inside the theatre, the carpeting is dazzling and dizzy, and the restrooms are upgraded and spotless. Who knows how long that will last, so enjoy it while you can. The lounge, which reaches far into the back of the expansive space, is decorated in an Art Deco style with a tray ceiling, sexy vintage couches and club chairs. Hopefully moving forward they will dim the lights so that the atmosphere reflects the furniture, it would make the lounge a great stop even if the cinematic offerings are not to your liking. The bar has an extensive bourbon collection for my fellow noble boozers, and high quality brews on tap, including Three Floyds and selections from the neighboring RevBrew. My only complaint is that, to take alcohol into the theatre, you have to have your drinks poured into plastic cups, and they are somewhat small - i.e. the beer is $6 a pop, and it isn't a pint. So that is a little disappointing, but it isn't as if you are drinking in the theatre all night (or are you?). More importantly, I wanted to say I was drinking a "glass of beer" in the movie, a la Vincent Vega, yet I could not. My childhood dreams remain unfulfilled. Having said all that, the sound and vision in the theatres is great, and the seats are comfy. I never thought I'd say this, but they recline a bit too much, but at the same time that can help when you are bored stiff by The Artist. On the whole, at $7 a pop, I'm glad to have a comfortable movie going experience at a comparatively affordable price in Logan Square. Huzzah! read more

The best thing about this theater are the prices--$5.75 for a weekend matinee. Very nice. The second-best thing about this theater are the restrooms, or at least the men's room. It is so much handsomer and cleaner than one would expect, with green, white, and black tile that reminds me of The Gage, a few dozen sweet movie mini-posters, and a shocking lack of both graffiti and movie theater men's room stench. Speaking of odors, I believe that this theater sells beer as well. I knew that I was in Logan Square when a couple sat down behind us and within nanoseconds the unmistakable aroma of hops washed over me. No exaggeration--I could smell the IBUs even before I heard the squeak of their seats. Anyway, refreshments aside, this is a pretty sweet neighborhood theater with great value. It might even become a backup destination for us Ravenswooders when the Davis Theater shows are not favorable. read more
