Pretty decent place overall....great staff, very friendly and outgoing. However some things need to be greatly improved....updating menus with a sharpie isn't very professional, there are fruit flies in the men's washroom, specifically at the urinals and the sink, also throughout the establishment (tonight at least) Best things are the boneless ribs and wing nights to be honest. Hope to see some changes as this place could be kick ass...minus the Thursday night open mic (at least not ear shattering volumes). This is a place I do frequently visit due to the wing and rib nights and hope to, again, see changes.

6 oz steak sandwich lunch special $7.95

Been meaning to try this place out as I've read good things about their wings but we went around lunch time and the wing specials don't start until 4. Apparently it's 25 cent per wing and 10 per drink order. I really don't like this house rule if the wings are over 15 cents. Decided to go with their lunch special instead, 6 oz steak sandwich with fries for $7.95. Steak was cooked to order (medium rare) and was seasoned just right. I thought it was strange how it was served beside the buttered toast and not on top. The fries were a little over done but piping hot. Really it was $7.95 should my expectations be that high? Server was nice and attentive, although there was only 2 other tables in there with us but still the service on this occasion was good.

Super soggy, way over the top ghost pepper wings.

I go here quite often on wing night for their wings, which are usually pretty good. Last night I decided to have their ghost pepper wings, (which were not on special for the record - 8.95 for 6 wings) The server convinced me to get 6 wings to try. When they came out I was a bit shocked as to the sheer amount of sauce that came on them. I like super hot wings as much as the next guy but these were completely ridiculous. I mean completely smothered in ghost pepper sauce. They could have made 4 or 5 more batches with the amount of sauce that came with these. The wings were completely soggy and not enjoyable at all! I will never order these again. I'm rating this a 2 strictly based on my experience last night.

My running group that I was traveling with brought our party to the Elk & Oarsman for a quick dinner. This place is a lodge-style sports bar that is located in the heart of the Town of Banff. There are TV screens all around that show live sports and a large fireplace. You can see the beautiful mountain scenery from the rooftop patio. It was nice of Elk & Oarsman to accommodate our large party. The service was great here. Elk & Oarsman is a sports bar that serves good food. The menu has a variety of pub fare favorites like bar snacks, sharables, salads, flatbreads, elk dishes and burgers. I was starving and ordered the Buck Hunter because I wanted to try something with elk in it. This elk & bacon burger patty comes loaded with condiments on a brioche bun. I really liked the tasted of the smoked mayo on my burger. I also got a Broccoli Cheddar Soup on the side. Banded Peak Brewing is a popular beer made in Alberta that is named after a mountain in the Canadian Rockies. I grabbed their Amber Lager to pair with my dinner. There is a fun lively atmosphere here at Elk & Oarsman. I was only here for brief time, but enjoyed it. This is a solid place to check out if you like sports and good food.

Here's what we ordered: Mango boba - surprisingly tart and could've used a bit of sweetness Peanut chicken salad - flavorful and refreshing, with noodles at the bottom Fish tacos with sweet potato fries - the beer-battered fish was crispy and delicious While the food was solid and the patio atmosphere was great, the service really impacted our experience. When we were ready to pay, it was difficult to get our server's attention. My husband eventually had to approach her across the patio, and she processed our payment while standing right there. It seemed like they were short-staffed the day we visited, which might explain the delays, but the lack of attention was still frustrating. Overall, good food and a nice setting, but I'd give it 3.5 stars due to the service issues

Food here is just alright. Fish tacos weren't bad but the fish wasn't crispy at all. The quasedilla "tortilla" was a little thick. The meat in the BBQ rice bowl was pretty good, but the ratio of rice to everything else was too high. The salad was pretty good and quite a large serving. We had A LOT of trouble flagging down our waitress, especially near the end when we were ready to pay, which was quite frustrating and the main reason I'm docking stars. However, I will say the setup outside is really nice. There are hanging plants, pretty large tables, music that's not too loud, and overall a nice vibe. I think for a slow, casual evening out this place will have you covered.

Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.
