The tech came a few days later, did a (clearly not thorough) inspection of the unit. He ended up telling us that our compressor was bad, the unit (that we bought brand new and had professionally installed 4 years ago) was "too old and obsolete," and that it was going to cost us an estimated $6,700 to change out our outside coil unit and compressor. Since we don't have a spare $6,700, we contacted another business (Environment Concepts, Inc. Heating and Air Conditioning) for a second opinion. Billy came out the next day and completely fixed the problem (NOT the compressor, not anything the guy from ACE lied to us about) for $300. ACE wanted to rip us off for literally THOUSANDS of dollars that we don't have. They offered no other options or solutions, and had we not found the company that actually helped us, we would be completely without AC for who knows how long in the AZ summer heat. When my husband received a message from ACE to OFFER FINANCING on a completely unnecessary service, he told them what happened and how unacceptable their business practices are. The only response was to tell him that they could still offer services in the future. Absolutely unbelievable! Bottom line, if I could give ACE zero stars, I would. They are unethical and clearly out to steal whatever they can from unsuspecting victims. For as many elderly people on fixed incomes and young families just starting out as there are around here, it is disgusting to know that this company would rather let people overheat than to be honest and fo the correct work for a workable amount. I will NEVER recommend ACE, and will be telling everyone I know how badly they tried to rip us off. Out of three other plumbing companies, Jesse from Burgie's was the only one that actually took the BTU rating from each of my gas appliances and calculated the total gas demand to determine whether or not my home had sufficient supply to accomidate another gas appliance. Jesse performed the installation, pressure tested the complete gas circuit which passed inspection the first time. We had to move a water heater and install a water softener in our home. Travis and Jessie came out to do this project which took all day to complete. These two were well versed on local plumbing codes, very familiar with the products installed and liked to follow "old school" procedures. Our first conversation with Dave was that we should go ahead and purchase the equipment we need and he would do the installation. Over the next month or so we did the research and purchased a water softener, reverse osmosis system and a couple of other items including a new kitchen sink. We made an appointment and Dave came out. Three-steps out of the truck he calls my wife a "cougar" but I let it go. Whatever? Next, he tells me I should not have bought the water softener as there is a better product on the market that he sells. I'm sure he is correct; however, my softener is not returnable. Dave also tells me my Wellmate water pressure take is no longer working, that the bladder is "shot." He can tell this be just "feeling" the tank. He has to rush off and we consider all of this. The next day I text him and ask for a written estimate to do the installation and he DECLINES the work. I the meantime I purchased a replacement Wellmate tank and retained a new plumber (review coming). THE KICKER... MY OLD WELLMATE PRESSURE TANK WAS JUST FINE! It just needed to be re-pressurized.
