I chose a different color, but what ended up happening is that I was given highlights in the new color that didn't extend into my roots. My roots are still blonde from the bleaching while the rest of my hair is the color I chose. My issue is that the new highlight color did not end up in my roots which gave me 2-3 inches of undyed hair. I would've expected this from a lower priced salon with a newer stylist, but that wasn't the case which is why this is disappointing. I dont have time to get this fixed because I leave for the wedding, which I'm part of, in a few hours requiring me to fix my roots myself. Not happy.

The stations in the basement are managed by owners Rachel, Michelle and Kim, definitely the most popular stylists there. Rachel cut and colored my hair the first time and did an amazing job. However, I recently went to Mandy on the main floor and she did a great job on my cut and color as well. I think they intentionally select quality stylists to manage the individual stations in order to maintain their high standards and positive reputation. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming; while it is a high-end salon, I've never felt self conscious or uncomfortable there. Just be sure to schedule enough time for your appointment; they do seem to run a little long. UPDATE: 2.0 stars for the following experience... I went to Moxie one last time before I moved and because I couldn't get in with Mandy, I scheduled an appointment with someone she recommended instead. While I can't remember her name, I was disappointed in the color. I asked that she darken it a bit for fall, and I actually left with blonder highlights than I had before--in fact, they were white blonde and not applied as close to my scalp as usual which means I'll have to have it redone sooner. Plus she charged me $20 more than Mandy. I felt like she did a sloppy job simply because she knew I wasn't going to be a repeat client.

During her appointment, the technician doing her pedicure apparently forgot that she was also scheduled for a manicure. When he realized it, he became visibly frustrated, started working on her nails himself, and then abruptly pushed her off to another employee. Unfortunately, the service only got worse from there. The manicure was rushed, sloppy, and unprofessional. The polish application is uneven, messy around the edges, and looks nothing like what I would expect from a professional salon. Even more concerning, multiple fingers were cut during the process, causing bleeding around the cuticles. A manicure should never leave a customer bleeding. The lack of care and attention to detail was shocking. Looking at her nails afterward, it was clear that proper cuticle care and polish application techniques were not followed. Extremely disorganized and careless from start to finish. Between the scheduling mix-up, the technician's attitude, being passed from one person to another, the poor quality of the manicure, and the cuts around her nails. What makes this even more upsetting is that my daughter rarely gets her nails done and was excited to have them done for our Hawaiian vacation. The person on the phone was not very nice and every question I asked was then asked to someone nearby because she didn't know the answers. Which whatever, I know new people need to be trained, but she seemed annoyed with my questions. The day of my appointment arrived and I entered to find a man behind the counter and absolutely no workers around. My appointment was at 11am and I was pretty early, but when I told him, he went into the back with a cell phone and came back and said, "She's on her way." Finally at about 11:20, the salon's owner, Echo, came in and did not really apologize for my wait, but told me she normally doesn't work Mondays and her other employee called in sick. My manicure was terrible. She accidentally put base coat on over my color as a top coat, making the color underneath not dry, but the top harden. (Later that night, I was able to pull the color straight off my nails and had to redo them myself. The pedicure was better, but the color came off completely about a week later, practically popped off.) At the end of my appointment, she had me put my toes back under the black light and told me, "You probably want to let those stay in there for another three minutes," grabbed her purse, and left. I felt like I was a nuisance to her, which I do not understand. She's running a freaking business; customers are a good thing, especially noticing now how this place has a bad track record for service. Also, I'm not looking for a heart to heart conversation with a stranger when I get my nails done, but she didn't really talk to me except for complaining about her other employees, one who had called in sick, and the other who didn't have her licensing yet to do work. She also complained to me about the man at the front counter who was helping her with the business, which is super unprofessional. I don't need to hear that. I like supporting local businesses, but I will not go back to Echo's.
