I purchased a prepaid membership at Refresh Spa II (1861 86th St, Brooklyn, NY) for $450 cash. The package included twelve 60-minute body massages (10 base + 2 promotional). I was issued Membership Card #40. My wife and I used 5 sessions total, leaving 7 unused sessions. During our prior visits, the business consistently recognized and honored the membership. Staff members (including a masseur named Mr. Cao) were able to successfully locate my account using both my membership card number and my phone number. Refresh Spa II later closed permanently. However, they posted a closure notice explicitly stating that unused sessions could be redeemed at partner locations, including Refresh Massage Spa at 123 Smith St, Brooklyn, NY. On June 4, 2026, at 2:30 PM, I visited the 123 Smith St location to redeem a remaining session. Staff refused service, claiming my card number and phone number were not in their notebook. I presented Card #40 and explained my account had been verified during previous visits. I asked to speak with a manager and requested copies of my membership records, but staff refused both requests and stated no records were available. The business is violating the written commitment provided in their closure notice. Resolution Requested: Immediate fulfillment of the remaining 7 prepaid 60-minute sessions at the designated partner location or another authorized location, as promised. A complete copy of all membership records, visit history, and service records for Card #40. If the business claims no records exist--despite previously verifying my account to provide service--this indicates a gross failure by the company to maintain adequate customer and service tracking. read more

This experience was unacceptable and deeply troubling. I booked and began a hand and foot massage and was already 10 minutes into my session when another customer with a lighter skin tone arrived. Immediately after, I was told my masseuse was suddenly "busy" and that my service could only continue for a half hour. I was then switched to another masseuse who clearly did not know what he was doing, and shortly after, switched yet again. This disruption did not feel random. It felt like I was deprioritized to accommodate another customer based on race. This went beyond poor scheduling or bad service...it felt discriminatory. Being interrupted, rushed, and passed between unqualified providers after another customer arrived is unacceptable and should never happen. No one should leave a business feeling disregarded or treated as less worthy. Extremely unprofessional experience. I will not be returning. read more

As a big fan of reflexology and foot massages, it's rare that I find a truly exceptional one but Refresh Spa in Brooklyn delivered exactly that. I booked my appointment online, day of and arrived a bit early, and they even started my session ahead of schedule! The full 60 minutes were pure relaxation, with expertly applied deep pressure from a highly skilled therapist. My 2nd visit was not refreshing. After a delayed greeting, the receptionist proceeded to ask if I was pregnant and even when I said no she Simultaneously got up from her seat to look and verify. Mind you it's layer season and very cold outside. Then calls out to a male for the massage without asking for preference. Unfortunately I was uncomfortable 10 minutes into what was supposed to be an hour body massage. I decided it was best to to cut it in half. This place would have gotten a higher rating had the masseuse not ruined my UGGs! Ive been going here since they opened and generally the masseuses have been fine and no one has been so dumb as to grab a par of suede UGGs with dirty greasy hands post massage until now. I went today (Sunday, December 21, 2025) a female masseuse that generally seemed annoyed to be there was assigned to my foot massage. She did an average job (and finished before her little clock even ran out) and was in such a hurry to run off she grabbed my new suede UGGs with her greasy (post massage covered in cream) hands and basically threw them at me. As i am putting them on i see they are completely ruined (see pics). The boy (i say boy because the woman who is the owner and who is usually there wasnt there today) running the front desk was completely unapologetic when i told him. I have been a customer since they opened and the female owner knows me well (i will be letting her know of this in the coming week face to face). For anyone thinking this is a ploy not to pay for a $45 massage, think again, i paid. Not only the full price but also with my shoes. Will not be returning and from now on with stick with Smith st spa that in my almost 15yrs of living here has never ruined a single pair of my shoes. read more

I have been coming to this place for 2yrs, and I must say that my experience was horrible. I was here on Saturday feb 14th 2026. I didn't schedule any appointment and because of the holiday I wanted to treat myself to a massage. As I walked in at the front desk I was greeted by the receptionist and was informed of the busy schedule and that I can only do a 30 to 45min massage. I choose the 45min. I don't know if it was because of the busy schedule, but my masseuse was hurting me during the massage I had to say "ouch" 5times and I told her she was too rough. I don't know if she understood me due to the language barrier, but this was not acceptable. I had a 30min back massage and 15min foot. The back was horrible, but the foot was okay. I told the receptionist about my pain during the massage, and she apologized but her apology wasn't sincere. I gave the masseuse a $5.00 tip although she really didn't deserve it. Please be very attentive and cautious coming to this business because the staff has changed and not for the better. read more

The second half body made up for it but still I will not be returning! I usually ask for male staff since I want to make sure I am paying for a good deep massage not a soft one but I've been to other business massage places and some women staff have done great, so I was open. Idk if the female staff member was tired or has a hand health issue, but it was ridiculously soft and she was doing nothing except move her hand up and down my leg and making it look as if she was working hard on the legs but seriously no grip at all. The worst massage ever and waste of money. Half way to the feet I let her know hey sorry this is too soft can you apply more pressure? She understood but then when she touched my feet she went from zero to 100 that lasted 1 minute (I wonder if she took my request personal) , still I put up with it because I was worried if I said now that is abrasive she would go back to zero pressure. Even then it was interesting she wasn't touching the middle of my feet or upper part of foot or lower foot really like avoiding it and then focusing on my legs and no pressure at all. Maybe she has sensitive legs but I'm young not 90 and the point of going to massage for foot and body is to receive a massage you can feel. Maybe she thought women won't speak up or won't do anything, but I still tipped since that is the right thing to do and I figured to leave a honest review. I wasn't going to make a scene during check out. Perhaps front desk should be checking their staff more since it was only me and another person, and I could tell see the other staff member, the male was giving a thorough regular foot massage to the client. To the body, she improved and was applying normal pressure! So made me wonder what happened with the feet then. I asked to focus on upper back but she wanted to focus on other parts too. It's great she used her elbow since I know I have tight upper back, but then she would apply harder pressure on my upper arms, which hurt a lot and wondered why that pressure wasn't applied to my back but whatever maybe the arms are softer and easier for her elbow. Again I don't have ripped arms so maybe that's appropriate for someone with arm muscle and does weights. My underwear was pulled all the way down like below my butt checks lol and I'm more used to half way, but whatever I know different customs but something to have in mind maybe with that chain. Also no hot stone they charge 15 more for it I guess. It would help staff since the heat softens the tight muscle and less work for their hands fyi Oh also during the foot massage she wanted to like end it early so started to take like 5 min to just wipe the cream from legs and feet and pull my toes with a dry towel... uncomfortable at that point since no lotion and skin hurt. Then she still wasn't hearing the timer so for very long she did the traditional hitting of the legs and feet double. Oh and during the end of the body she also did that to my back but very hard at one point I felt my chest/lung area little shocked I was laying down. Some places give attention to shoulders and ask you to turn around but that wasn't all offered here all face down. I'll be sticking to my usual Brooklyn spot on 7th Ave park slope! Overall maybe your staff needs more training. read more

I came to Refresh Spa after a long weekend of working. Needless to say, the massage was much needed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with happy smiles. Very different then other spas nearby. They took the time to introduce each service to me and explain the treatment. The product line they use is amazing, left my skin, feeling so soft and glowing.
