I made a follow up appointment to see the same doctor I saw the previous year. I had a 7:30am…read moreappointment. After driving 45 minutes to get to this early appointment, the receptionist says they no longer accept my insurance. She explained it's been 6months since the change and if I wanted to see the doctor, it would be out of pocket. Of course, this is incredibly inconvenient and why would I pay out of pocket when I have insurance. Furthermore, I was asked what insurance I had over the phone when I made the appointment. She explained that a third party made the appointment and apologized. Absolutely unacceptable. I left to drive 45min back home. People refuse to do good business.

This was our second visit to this location. During our first experience, my partner needed to…read moreschedule an appointment to get the stitches removed that they just put in, but when he tried to schedule the appointment at checkout, he was told they were fully booked out and advised to go to an urgent clinic, essentially he was on his own. Stitches that THEY put in. I ended up removing the stitches myself at home, which is wild to have to do and honestly blows my mind. This occurred in 2023. Thinking it was a one-time issue, I decided to give the location another try. Upon arrival, there was a sign on the door requesting that IDs and insurance cards be ready. While this is standard, the tone of the sign felt off-putting. Inside, I handed over my documents and was met by a staff member (woman on the left in the photo) who was unprofessional in her tone. She told me I needed a referral to be seen, even though my insurance does not require one. When I attempted to explain, she cut me off, saying "no, you need a referral," and added that she "wasn't risking her job." The situation escalated quickly, with both staff members raising their voices, insisting I was wrong. Despite showing her on my insurance app that no referral was needed, she insisted that I call to get one. I called my insurance company, and after a brief wait, had a representative confirm that no referral was required. When I returned to the front desk, the staff member spoke rudely to both me and the insurance representative, even showing frustration when she couldn't understand the representative's accent. After the call, I was allowed to check in, but the interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational. Another review from two weeks ago mentions a similar experience, indicating this is a recurring issue. I had no issues with the back-office staff, including Trieveonna, Erin, and Shelinda, who were helpful. Erin seemed skeptical about my partner's stitches, but after I called him to give his side without a heads up, he said exactly what I said. Despite the helpfulness of the medical staff in back, the front desk treatment was unprofessional and stressful. The interaction left me shaken, and it's hard to see myself returning after this experience. On my way out, I tried to be polite, but my comment was met with a dismissive response by the woman on the right in the photo. This kind of treatment, combined with the negative reviews, suggests a consistent issue with how patients are treated at the front desk. It's unfortunate because I have had good experiences with the doctors and nurses, but the front desk interaction makes it hard to want to return. Each reply to these reviews is dismissive and frankly insulting considering my same experience happened to another two weeks prior and nothing has changed. I was not rude and did not deserve to be met with such immediate hostility.

I had a 30-minute skin consultation with Michelle, an experienced aesthetician and laser & light specialist. She was knowledgeable, thorough, and made thoughtful recommendations, including a written out individualized AM/PM skin routine. She also discussed appropriate in-office treatments for my personal needs, concerns, and goals (such as the hydrafacial which I now have booked coming up soon)! Overall, this was great, informative experience at Spa Derma in the West Loop. I'm looking forward to my first hydrafacial with Michelle next week!

I wish I spent more time reading all the reviews. Unfortunately, they are right. I'll start with…read morewhat went well; two of the waitstaff/nurses were lovely and took the time to answer questions and give feedback. Dr Sayeg on the other hand is about the most unprofessional physician I have ever met, and I am not even exaggerating. TERRIBLE bedside manners. To start, when I came in for the consultation, the attending nurse and Dr Sayed assured me that the swelling from my procedure would heal in a month, which is the only reason why I followed through with it, as my wedding would be a bit over a month after it. The consult consisted of him coming into the office, impatiently asked me to get up, grabbing and tugging at my skin, then saying "you are fine to do it" and then proceeded to leave the room. I started asking a question and he sort of grunted and pointed at the nurse in the room, suggesting she would be answering me. Major red flag, but I went through with it anyway. Well, my surgical procedure was quite traumatic, as I am assuming it was due to me taking longer to respond to the local anesthesia. He came into the surgical room, not a word was said, and he immediately started the procedure. It was extremely painful and when I couldn't handle it anymore, I tried asking him to pause because I was feeling everything, and his response was, "YOU ARE FINE" as he stood above me and continued on. When it was over he left the room and I just laid there, in absolute shock. The nurse noticed my distress and addressed it but that was about it. Minimal instructions were given, and luckily I did a lot of research afterwards. One month passed, and I am still very swollen. I came for my follow up consultation, and got the same cold, sneering impatience from him, and when I asked why I was still swollen when it was promised it would go down within a month, Dr Sayeg and his nurse assured me that it was actually 3 months, and that they never said that. I asked if I could see a different doctor for my second follow up because I know I do not ever want to see this man again, but unfortunately he is their only surgeon. So do it at your own risk, but if I could give you some advice, I would say, save a bit more money, and go somewhere with a more professional doctor.
