I started seeing her a year before my wedding with the goal of improving my overall skin texture, tone, and health. Besides being a master of her craft, Valeriya is just the sweetest, kindest, most patient person. She really takes the time to get to know you and your skin. Of course you have to go semi-consistently for this to really be possible, but consistency is key with anything skin-related, and patience too. The first time I saw her I did a Hydrafacial, but she recommended we switch to DMK and that's what we've been doing almost every session since (with a few chemical peels sprinkled in). Every time I see her she switches things up as needed based on what my skin needs that day. That's what I love about her--it's never one-size-fits-all with her treatments--she understands my skin and can predict what it needs and how it will react. She's also incredibly generous with her time and will respond to texts whenever I have had questions outside of our sessions--she truly cares about her clients and their outcomes. I've also done Aerolase laser treatments a couple of times to target stubborn cystic pimples and have had great results. Of course Valeriya doesn't do the laser herself, but her nurse Pearl is such a sweetheart as well and I love that her and Valeriya work together as a team to make sure their clients are getting the right combination of treatments to address their specific skin concerns. Valeriya is never pushy with products, but I have purchased and used many of the products she has recommended to me since I started working with her. I also follow a maintenance routine prescribed by my dermatologist and usually get facials periodically, so I came in specifically for a facial. Roxanne is a very pleasant woman and looks great, which naturally builds trust. We agreed on a deluxe facial. The experience itself was honestly fantastic. At one point, while I had a mask on and steam over my face, she was also massaging my hands and feet, which made the whole experience deeply relaxing. Physically, it was exactly what I needed. However, there were two important things that didn't sit right with me and are the reason I wouldn't come back. First, regarding the treatment itself: I expected the facial to include extractions, but it ended up being only chemical and ultrasonic cleansing, without manual extractions. This is important for me since I had some closed comedones. Maybe that was just a mismatch in expectations, which I can understand. What affected me much more was the second part. After the 1.5-hour treatment, when I was very relaxed, Roxanne offered me water, stepped out so I could get dressed, and then came back in to discuss "next steps." She asked about my current skincare, and I mentioned dermatologist-prescribed products (Differin and azelaic acid). She responded somewhat dismissively, saying something along the lines of "that's from the pharmacy, right? It's not as good as these..." and then started pulling out products she recommended instead. She then calculated everything on her phone and showed me a total of around $550, including the facial (about $215) and three products, each around $100. She mentioned there was a discount available right now and said there was "no pressure," but it definitely felt like a strong sales push. I'm not someone who makes quick purchasing decisions, especially not impulsively and not at that price point. In the past, I've appreciated when specialists recommend options in different price ranges or explain alternatives with similar active ingredients, so I can make an informed decision based on my budget. That didn't happen here, and the situation felt like aggressive upselling, especially right after such a relaxing treatment. I told her I wasn't planning on that kind of budget and needed time to think, and asked if I could take photos to research the products. She said she would send me links and asked that I purchase through her if I decide to go ahead, since she spent time explaining everything. I left feeling very mixed. Physically, I felt great, but emotionally I felt a bit drained. I understand everyone needs to make a living, but I really don't like aggressive sales tactics, especially during a first visit and when it comes with dismissing what already works for me. I don't have any negative feelings toward Roxanne personally, but I wouldn't choose to repeat this experience.
