I booked an appointment with Roxanne after seeing so many great reviews on Yelp. I have acne-prone skin and have tried a lot of products and specialists over time. I also follow a maintenance routine prescribed by my dermatologist and usually get facials periodically, so I came in specifically for a facial. Roxanne is a very pleasant woman and looks great, which naturally builds trust. We agreed on a deluxe facial. The experience itself was honestly fantastic. At one point, while I had a mask on and steam over my face, she was also massaging my hands and feet, which made the whole experience deeply relaxing. Physically, it was exactly what I needed. However, there were two important things that didn't sit right with me and are the reason I wouldn't come back. First, regarding the treatment itself: I expected the facial to include extractions, but it ended up being only chemical and ultrasonic cleansing, without manual extractions. This is important for me since I had some closed comedones. Maybe that was just a mismatch in expectations, which I can understand. What affected me much more was the second part. After the 1.5-hour treatment, when I was very relaxed, Roxanne offered me water, stepped out so I could get dressed, and then came back in to discuss "next steps." She asked about my current skincare, and I mentioned dermatologist-prescribed products (Differin and azelaic acid). She responded somewhat dismissively, saying something along the lines of "that's from the pharmacy, right? It's not as good as these..." and then started pulling out products she recommended instead. She then calculated everything on her phone and showed me a total of around $550, including the facial (about $215) and three products, each around $100. She mentioned there was a discount available right now and said there was "no pressure," but it definitely felt like a strong sales push. I'm not someone who makes quick purchasing decisions, especially not impulsively and not at that price point. In the past, I've appreciated when specialists recommend options in different price ranges or explain alternatives with similar active ingredients, so I can make an informed decision based on my budget. That didn't happen here, and the situation felt like aggressive upselling, especially right after such a relaxing treatment. I told her I wasn't planning on that kind of budget and needed time to think, and asked if I could take photos to research the products. She said she would send me links and asked that I purchase through her if I decide to go ahead, since she spent time explaining everything. I left feeling very mixed. Physically, I felt great, but emotionally I felt a bit drained. I understand everyone needs to make a living, but I really don't like aggressive sales tactics, especially during a first visit and when it comes with dismissing what already works for me. I don't have any negative feelings toward Roxanne personally, but I wouldn't choose to repeat this experience. read more

Roxanne has been a lifesaver to treat my backacne and face acne. I thought it was from hormones but she gave me a clear plan and simplified my regimen. I e done about 4 peels with her and have already seen a ton of progress. read more

My skin has changed so much for the better ever since I started seeing Roxanne. When I first started getting facials from Roxanne, my skin was dry and prone to eczema flare ups. I even had some discoloration/scarring from eczema. Thanks to roxanne and her thoughtfully curated regimen of PCA and Babor products for me to use, I've been eczema free for years, and my skin is clear and feels its best (the scarring is gone and I don't even wear concealer or foundation these days). I still continue to see Roxanne and it's been so helpful as my lifestyle has changed to an active one where I'm outdoors a lot. I don't have much sunspots for my age from all the outdoor activities I do thanks to her facials, peels, and PCA/Babor products. I can't thank her enough for my healthy skin! P.S. She's also amazing with brows. I don't let anybody touch it other than her. Nobody does my brows better than Roxanne and I would rather have my brows grow out until my next appointment with Roxanne than go to a brow bar to have someone else do them. read more

I visited Roxanne for the first time to address my acne and discoloration from hormonal changes and sunspots. After just one treatment, I'm already seeing a difference. My skin is glowing, discoloration is lighter, and my breakouts are noticeably calmer. My pores feel clear and healthy. I'm definitely continuing with Roxanne. She truly knows her craft, and I'm thrilled I found her. Highly recommend! read more

Such a wonderful (1st time) experience with Roxanne, whose facial was invigorating and great. The facial left my skin visibly smoother and made my foundation easier to apply. I've had acne since I was a teenager. It lasted until my late 40's. Even now, I still have occasional breakouts. Honestly, I never really took care of my skin except to use a very harsh popular acne remedy. I just hated my skin and had given up on it. In desperation, I found Roxanne. I really appreciated her non-judgmental attitude about my abusing my skin for all these years. I've been going to Roxanne for three months, religiously using the products she sells and I'm amazed at my skin! This is the first time in my life that I actually like my skin. If you have adult acne, go to Roxanne! She WILL help you. read more

Over the past six months, I've been getting monthly facials from Roxanne, and the experience, along with the results, has been fantastic! Before seeing her, I was using a mix of random skincare products without really understanding what my skin needed or how to address the persistent dryness I was experiencing. Roxanne carefully evaluated my skin and recommended a simple, effective three-step routine (a big improvement over my previous 5-6 mismatched products). By sticking to this routine and monthly facials, I've seen a dramatic improvement in my skin's hydration, brightness, and even tone. She works out of a private room in a convenient part of SF w/ plenty of nearby parking, making it easy to pop in for regular appointments. With her extensive experience and knowledge of skincare products, Roxanne makes you feel confident that you're in great hands. She's perfect for anyone looking to commit to better skin health and establish a sustainable, science-based routine. On top of all that, she's an absolute delight to chat with, making each appointment both relaxing and fun! read more

I can't recommend Roxanne enough. She is so incredibly knowledgeable about skincare and has transformed my skin in ways that I didn't even know was possible. Don't walk, RUN to book a facial with Roxanne - she's so gifted and genuinely cares about you and recommends incredible products. I had a crazy acne bacteria breakout and after one peel it already showed improvements and her skin care regimen that she prescribed me continues to improve my skin each day. She's truly one of a kind and is the best skin care expert of her time. BOOK WITH HER ASAP! You won't regret it. read more

I had my first facial (and glycolic peel) with Roxanee this weekend and she did a wonderful job. Not only was the facial great but she happens to give a fantastic massage along with the facial that is much longer than most aestheticians commit to. She has been an aesthetician for 17 years so she truly knows her stuff and gave me some great food for thought. She promoted products to me but not in a way that was too much, more that she really believes in those 2 brands. I did come in via a Groupon - I have an aesthetician I am loyal to, however she travels abroad a lot as she reps a French product - so I am looking for someone to fill in while she's gone. Word to the wise about parking: it's San Francisco, people. You can't blame Roxanne for the lack of proper parking for you. There are plenty of lots on Union + Lombard (Yelp! them!) and residential parking is safe for 2 hours on the weekdays from 9-6 - try Filbert, Gough or Green. It just requires a little patience and parking karma. read more

Roxanne is absolutely amazing at what she does. She is SO knowledgeable about skincare and acne in particular (my main concern, though I know she helps people with other skin concerns as well!). I have have acne for 17 years and tried every product and treatment in the book, including Accutane (twice). I decided to see Roxanne, as she appears to be one of the few aestheticians in the area who does real chemical peels. I am SO glad I found her. My skin was a mess when I first saw her about six months ago - painful acne all along my jawline, constant breakouts, etc. Roxanne was upfront that it would take at least a couple of months to see results but that the chemical peels would be effective, along with the products she recommended for me. I was somewhat skeptical about the products in the beginning, as I have always used high-end skincare products and retinoids but never felt they made a real difference. But I decided to go all in, started doing facials and peels once a month, and bought all the products Roxanne recommended for me. Within 2 months my skin was already looking much better. Now, after my 5th(?) chemical peel with Roxanne, I am so happy with my skin. No more cystic breakouts, when I do get a small zit it comes and goes quickly, and the overall quality/appearance of my skin is so much nicer, softer, less oily, and my deep scarring is clearing up as well. One of my favorite things about Roxanne is that she does not BS you and she does not buy into all the silly skincare scams out there. She will tell you up front if something will work or not, or how long it will take. She also has never made me feel ashamed of or blamed me for my acne, unlike many other aestheticians who don't understand acne. Her prices are fair (good skincare is expensive, and she is on par with other aestheticians in the area, but is much more knowledgeable and talented, in my opinion), and the products she recommends are reasonably priced and super effective. if you are struggling with acne, go see Roxanne now! read more

FABULOUS FACIAL! I have had very hit or miss experiences with new facialists and this was a HIT. I called in when I saw her "Fabulous Facial" deal for first time customers to get a $75 facial that's typically $175. Roxanne was able to get me in the next day. Roxanne has a great energy about her that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Her soothing techniques make you feel like melting into the plush bed, and she made my least favorite part of facials-- the extractions-- extremely manageable. She did not put in less time or energy because of the serious discount and I will absolutely be returning! read more

I have been going to Roxanne for the past three years and I cannot thank her enough for keeping my skin looking flawless. I frequently get compliments from strangers about how great my skin looks. I have tried all of her facials on the menu and each one has done wonders for my skin. I love the cooling sensation I get from the algae mask and my skin is always glowing a few days after a PCA peel. I appreciate the time (two hours) she dedicates to each facial appointment and especially how meticulous she is when it comes to shaping and waxing my eyebrows (I jokingly call her "the eyebrow whisperer"). Thank you Roxanne! read more

I just had a facial and a peel with Roxanne at Cloud Nine and what a difference I saw just after one visit! Roxanne is such an expert! Especially with mature skin! Her prices are very reasonable and I appreciate all the advice and knowledge she brings to her work. She will be on my calendar for a regular visit! read more

There is nothing I appreciate more than honesty (and skill, obviously) from a skin care professional. I went to Roxanne about a month before my wedding in a panic because my back had been taking a beating over the years: sunburns, allergies, and bug bites from tropical vacations left my skin with some dark marks here and there, and since my dress was strapless, I wanted to make sure it looked in tip-top shape. I told Roxanne that I would be willing to go to her for as many back facials as she thought necessary to get my back evenly toned again. She took one look at it, said I just needed a good exfoliating, did a glycolic peel (ouch!), and sent me on my way. And that was all I needed: one back facial and I was good to go, whereas others may have told me I needed way more treatments than actually necessary. And seriously, my skin was absolutely glowing after that one treatment; the reason I know it's not just some placebo effect or whatever was because I saw shards of skin that she'd sloughed off (sorry for being so sexy here). Thank you Roxanne for being such a lifesaver! read more

I recently relocated to SF from the East coast and was looking for a place to get facials. I have gotten professional facials for 20+ years and am very particular about my aesthetician and their work, the products they use, the place and the value for what I get. I saw a Groupon for Cloud Nine and decided to try it. Roxanne and Cloud Nine are 5 star all the way! Roxanne is very knowledgeable about skin and was able to treat some problem areas that I could not get addressed at other places I tried. She communicates well about what she is doing, what she thinks you need and makes notes on your account after your facial - like a history of what she's done and the results - which can be used for future services. She has followed up with me, via text, a few days after treatments to see how the results were. I like the products she uses very much (PCA and Babor) and buy from her since her prices are fair. I recently purchased a product that I didn't like after 5-6 uses and just mentioned it to her. She quickly advised that I could just bring it back next time I came in and she gave me another comparable product at no cost to take home with me. No questions asked. Now that is customer service! Her facial room is very clean, her heated chair/table is very comfortable, her linens are luxurious, her warm towels are beautifully scented, and she plays soothing music to add to the relaxation. And, her skin is amazing! She uses the same products on herself that she uses on her clients, so you know what to expect. I have had 100's of facials in my life and Roxanne's facials are at the top! She addresses the needs of my skin and makes me feel like my satisfaction is important. The facial experience is great all around - service, product, environment and Roxanne herself. I have become a regular at Cloud Nine and highly recommend it. read more

Roxanne is fantastic! I always leave her studio feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. Her facial is one of the best I've ever had - she's thorough and gentle. She's very knowledgeable and is happy to share tips and best practices (or she'll let you relax and drift to sleep). She also pampers you the entire time during your treatment - whether it's a neck or hand massage, you're always getting 100% of her attention. I've purchased a few of the products and love the way they are working on my skin. And I love that her facials and products actually work for the long run. I've always taken good care of my skin, but going to Roxanne has really taken it to the next level, and I see that my skin is noticeably brighter and smoother. I know my older self will thank my younger self for taking care of my skin now. read more

I first came to Roxanne about 4 months ago, with some serious acne that had become an issue only in the last year. I found an online deal for a Classic Facial and thought, why not? So I made an appointment. At my first appointment, Roxanne told me that a Classic Facial wouldn't be the right treatment for me because of my active breakouts, and she happily instead gave me the first of my Acne treatments instead, at no additional cost. (The deal I had purchased was for the Classic Facial, which I believe is something like $50 less than the acne treatment). With no pressure, Roxanne recommended PCA and Babor products to treat my acne at home, and also said that within 3 months of regular facials with her, I would start to see results. She offered me a $120 deal for my acne treatments, which would include, she said, any treatment needed at no additional cost. Usually if you want (or if your aesthetician recommends) an additional peel or mask, your salon will charge way more on top of your facial price, but Roxanne included all those services and extra peels with the cost of the acne facial. I'm so happy with my results so far! I've been in about once every 4 weeks, and with regular home care in addition to Roxanne's treatments, my skin has visibly improved so much! The texture is smooth and no longer acne ridden, and my breakouts are reduced considerably. Now we are working on getting rid of some of the scars. While I had never gotten a facial before coming to Cloud 9, I would absolutely recommend Roxanne and Cloud 9 to anyone. Roxanne is warm, friendly, and caring, but she also knows what's she's doing and does very good work! Her salon is intimate and private so you always have her full attention, and the environment is so relaxing that I look forward to my appointments (yes, even the zit-popping!). And while Cloud 9 isn't the cheapest salon out there, you certainly get your money's worth, and Roxanne is not shy to use the best products your skin needs. That's why even though she's a bit out of my budget, I've been returning because her care has improved my skin so much! read more

Roxanne is great! My skin glows everytime I walk out of there and continues to glow with the realistic/right on recommendations of product Roxanne recommends. I only found out about her post partum when I Really Needed help!! I wish I knew of her sooner! I originally went to her since she has the Babor line. Great intimate setting with no external noise/women chattering like normal spas and I mean the high end ones. Roxanne is an attentive, delightful, gifted therapist and I highly recommend her. I wouldn't think twice. read more

I'm not sure what experiences other people have had with Roxanne, but my interactions/appointments with her have always been very pleasant. I would say my experience mirrors that of Meredith R. I found Cloud Nine off a deal from bloomspot. I researched the reviews before buying the coupon, and upon seeing a review from a friend (Hannah W.) on Yelp, I decided that her services were legit. I had to reschedule my first appointment SO many times, but Roxanne was ALWAYS accommodating and gracious with all my change requests. My first treatment was microdermabrasion, which was a quick 30 min procedure. I put enough change for 2 hours in the meter which was way more than enough haha. Anyway, I didn't actually like the microderm for my skin and neither did Roxanne. So the second time I came back for a normal facial + the second round of microderm, Roxanne actually suggested that I do a chemical peel instead because it would be better for my skin (I have sensitive Asian skin, really fair and have started developing sun spots - oh no :( so sad). Even though the chem peel was more expensive than the microderm, Roxanne let me switch because she genuinely cared more about my skin care than just giving me what I paid for exactly. I definitely appreciated that a LOT. Also, I only had enough change for 1 hr 15 on the meter (they are sooo expensive, bring LOTS of change when you go!) and the chem peel was faster than the microderm, which was another reason she let me switch. The chem peel (sensi-peel) was great. I just had it last Saturday, and immediately after I already felt my skin glowing and smooth. For the past week though, it's been really dry and peeling and flaking, but now finally it's subsiding, phewph :) And the skin underneath is fresh and soft. I don't know how it'll turn out long term, I don't see the sun spots subsiding yet but I'm sure it takes time. Also - during the normal facial, the massage on the face and back is awesome and definitely longer than other places that I've been to. Generally speaking - I believe Roxanne does really care about her patients' skin, and wants the best care for them - long term. If you care about your skin and its future, then you'd commit to taking care of it by giving it the best. Roxanne isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. I have purchased new products every time I've been to her (twice so far) and they've all been really great. I agree with Meredith that she doesn't necessarily "PUSH" you to purchase, but she really does believe in her products. I already have my next facial and sensi-peel scheduled... Hope you guys have a chance to experience the pampering that I have! Also another plus - she accepts credit cards. But only MC or Visa! read more

When I complimented my friend on her lovely skin, she referred me to Roxanne. I am in my mid-40s and have oily but sensitive skin, with acne scars, large pores, and occasional psoriasis flareups. Updated review 1/02/2019 I've been going to Roxanne for over 2 years now and I thought she deserved an updated review. Roxanne is the only skincare professional that I've seen results with and now the only person who I would trust with my skincare needs. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable of skin care and specific different types of skin, she also is one of the kindest people that always goes above and beyond for her clients. My skin has always been troubled and in the last two years I've been going to Roxanne I've seen insanely significant improvements in my skin and scarring. She has always been very transparent with me with the fact that it takes patience and I am so glad I trusted Roxanne. A combination of the peels and facials have resulted in my skin is currently in a state that I'm extremely happy with. I plan on seeing Roxanne for many years to come. Honestly, the scars on my back are faded to the point that my life feels changed. She's never been pushy with her products which is something I really appreciate, although all her products are amazing! Roxanne Ralph at Cloud Nine Skin and Body Care was very friendly and welcoming. She was quick to notice my skin condition and educate me on the best way to care for it (do/don't). Roxanne is simply a dazzling angel sent from the heavens, like a disciple of Aphrodite, delivering us from the evils of bad skin care. Girl's got a way with skin - let me tell you. I came in pretty ratchet. One year later, I'm a beaming glow of skin care amazement. I've practically reduced my shrink bills because I have so much more confidence in myself. Yes I kid, but it's mostly true. I decided over a year ago to comprehensively invest in a good skin care professional, and I'll tell you, Roxanne is worth every damn penny. After 4 years of bad skin (olive complexion, perpetually athletic, part-time drag queen), I'm a prime example of what good choices in life surmounts to. I took her recommendations seriously, used the products she promoted, and discretely took the time to take care of my skin. And voilá, I no longer have to rely on flash photography to systematically blow out acne blemishes on my Facebook photos. POST FACEBOOK PHOTOS WITH CONFIDENCE! Above all, she's a beautiful person, inside and out. I mean c'mon look at her. I'd kill have her physical fervor and look like she does at her age. Girl rocks. read more
