Quick update [[HIGHLIGHT]]Another great visit to this spot[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My partner really liked this therapist: _ Sufian

As a holistic wellness professional and a life long student of healing I am so happy to announce that SenSpa is hands down the best spa in the BayArea! Great job to the entire team who makes this space so safe and healing for our mandatory monthly wellness meetings. We love coming here every time we are in the city. Today's therapist was Becka, and was amazing with her intuitive approach in trigger release therapy. Absolutely recommend to add SenSpa to your wellness routine.

I went to SenSpa for the first time on Monday June 16th at 2pm. I was running a bit late, but [[HIGHLIGHT]]the staff was very accommodating, professional and polite.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The space is very comfortable. I went with Chien-An Tao/Gabriel Tao who is from New Zealand while he was in San Francisco for a conference!

SenSpa is such a special place to me. The location alone, in the Presidio, is unbeatable, surrounded by natural beauty. After my massages, I love taking a stroll to Tunnel Tops nearby, where a charming café offers great food, drinks, and stunning views. It's the perfect way to extend the relaxation after a treatment. Now, back to SenSpa! The space is beautifully designed, and although parking is on the street, I did suggest dedicated or complimentary garage parking, so guests don't have to think about fees while unwinding. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm always warmly greeted by the friendly reception staff, and whenever I have time to arrive early, I can settle into the robe and slippers offered in the locker room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If I'm running late, the team is so accommodating, they'll even have my robe and slippers ready in the treatment room, which is a thoughtful touch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plus, you can linger as long as you like after your treatment to relax.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I enjoy celebrating my birthday here, especially with the complimentary glass of prosecco, which feels like such a treat![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The facility is impeccably clean, with thoughtfully placed teas, infused water, and snacks. One of my favorite areas is the room with the fireplace and recliners, it's cozy, with journals left by other guests, which are fun to browse. The relaxation room also offers scented oils to try, adding a nice sensory experience. As for the massage therapists, Christine and Theresa are my go-tos, they're incredibly skilled and detail-oriented. Their caring touch is something I truly appreciate. Having been a massage therapist for over 20 years, I can confidently say they provide some of the best massages I've ever had. The massage rooms are dimly lit, with comfortable tables, and they even offer scented oils (lavender is my favorite). The steam room is another bonus, though I can only handle it for a few minutes! SenSpa truly feels like a little slice of heaven in the Presidio. It's refreshingly down-to-earth, and the prices are fair for the experience they provide. I'm a customer for life. Thank you, SenSpa!

I had a wonderful time at SenSpa! Came in for a couples massage and had such a relaxing time. Since it was our first time there, we were given a tour of the spa and shown all the amenities before our appointment. The locker room was clean and you're given a robe, sandals and space to lock away all your possessions. The couples massage was fantastic and we were in wonderful hands with Mei and Naomi. I had the deep tissue massage and felt all the tension release from my body. I definitely enjoyed the experience and will come back again.

It's my favorite spa in Sf. Has both steam sauna and dry saunas, wine and beer bar, light therapy in dry sauna, sensory deprivation float tank and of course all the massages. I've had a Swedish massage, deep tissue massage and facial here. It's worth it. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

This is the table stand. So cute

I received a gift certificate to this place. I made an appt online. I was completely amazed when I walked in. The outside looks like plain buildings. Once you walk in there's a retail area, a cafe, and a seating area to relax. It was so spacious! I was expecting a nice cozy place. That wasn't it though. You keep walking past that and there's a 2nd relaxing area that's enclosed with glass and with spa music. If you walk further in, there's another relaxing area which is the meditation area. They offer citrus ice water, tea, and snacks (apricots, almonds, chocolate covered almonds). The women's locker room is clean. There's a steam room, bathroom, and showers. They provide shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hairspray, blow dryer, & brush. There's a robe & rubber slippers in every locker. The lockers are password coded. The first time I went, I had a massage and it was great. The rooms are huge, clean, and smell nice. The second time I went I had a craniosacral massage. It wasn't what I thought it would be. The masseuse will put light pressure on an area and just stay there for what seems like 7-10mins. There's no massaging whatsoever. I don't think they should list this as a massage but should be under the category that acupuncture is under. Anyway, expensive lesson to learn. I'll know to schedule an actual massage next time. This place is expensive but you get great service, ambiance, and treatments

I got the silverbell 1 hour message, which comes with the scrub, massage, and also a hair wash. We didn't bring it up as both of us are okay with male masseur as well despite what we have requested. Asked for a deep tissue massage, but was provided a Swedish massage instead, so as my friend. The massage was not bad but I can tell that the masseur is quite green in massaging based on my massage experience. Mentioned the work needed most to work on before we started the session. I felt that the masseur was trying to cover his course of massage, may be with just spending very little extra time on the tight side as needed. When trying to loosen a knot, he would still use his elbow to just push through the knot over and over. Knot is still there. Imagine how uncomfortable it was. He didn't work on the pressure point or may not even notice where the tight area was. My body was not relaxed after the massage. With the high price of this place, I have high expectation but was very disappointed. I guess if you just want to have a relaxing time, it may work. But if you have areas to work on, it is not the place.

Environment & Ambience: Kabuki has a much wider space, calming music, great ambience, wonderful smells and decor. OnsenSF is a dining space when you enter and spa in the back. Everything looks modern and nice, relaxing environment despite being located in the tenderloin. 3. Hot Tub: Kabuki has a rectangle shaped hot tub as opposed to OnsenSF's square shaped tub. 4. Cold plunge: Kabuki has a cold plunge that's perfect for people who don't need it to be extremely freezing. OnsenSF has a cold shower with many heads in place of a cold plunge. Both are enjoyable experiences 5. Steam Room: Kabuki's steam room is also rectangular as opposed to OnsenSF's square room. Kabuki's steam room also has a shower to rinse off excess salt and sweat before entering the common area. 6. Showers: At Kabuki, there's also a line of stools for the seated handheld showers where you can fill a tub of water and pour it over yourself in addition to the traditional shower stalls, where OnsenSF only has the traditional showers if I recall correctly. 7. Sauna: The sauna was great because you could adjust the heat by moving up the wooden bleachers. There was also plenty of space to stretch out and lie down. There were wooden half-cylinder blocks to place under the neck and back to promote blood flow. My partner's favorite standout was the salt scrub they have that's free to take at the refreshments table. You use it to scrub away dead skin in the shower and steam room. My favorite was the bowl of towels buried in ice cubes that helped me keep a cool head in the hot tub and sauna room. I will say that the thing that makes OnsenSF stand out is their dining pop-ups, but there's plenty of dining options on Fillmore and in Japantown. I would definitely go back to Kabuki again. The experience was incredibly relaxing. Highly recommend.

I wanted to treat myself to a facial during my last week living in SF. I was also going to be doing a lot of traveling over the next few weeks. I saw that this place had good ratings so I booked an appointment online. Since this is my first time here, I have no idea what my aesthetician looks like (context for later). I went upstairs where they were located and it looked like someone was working on another client's brows or something. So I was like "excuse me, I have an appointment right now". The lady instantly turned on hostile aggro mode for no reason. She asked me in a very condescending tone "are you sure you're at the right place? Because theres a lot of places nearby". Like what? What is that supposed to mean? Why would I be lost? There's only one Rosewater skincare on this street right? So I looked at the sign to double check, yup, it says Rosewater...and I asked "this is Rosewater right?". And then she said "yeah, what service do you have, who is it with?". I didn't remember off top of my head who it was with, but I told her it was for a facial. She said she would contact her colleague and told me to sit down. I double check my email and contacted the number listed on the email, no response. Turns out later that this number on the email is either wrong or not used. A few minutes passed as she continues to work on her client and then eventually she was like "you should contact heather, she tried calling you and said your appointment is actually monday". Dumbfounded by the continual rudeness even though I was nothing but respectful the whole time, I was like "ok I'll call her but I have an email confirming its for today..." I also asked whats her number because the one in the email doesn't seem to reach anyone. I checked my phone log and saw 2 missed calls (I get a lot of spam calls so I turn unknown phone calls off) so I asked if that was the number. To which she said yes. I was able to reach Heather and she profusely apologized for having the dates mixed up and offered to remedy the situation later today or this week. Unfortunately, that was the only time I was available. I work fulltime and every other time I am free, I have to do stuff for my move to nyc. I understand that people make mistakes and I do appreciate Heather trying to remedy the situation. But my interaction with her colleague was so disrespectful, demeaning and uncomfortable that it honestly soured my impression of the business. I really got the feeling that this lady was "judging a book by its cover" like theres no way someone like me could afford a facial in this bougie neighborhood. I did nothing to deserve this treatment so the only other reasoning would be that she doesn't think I fit the stereotypical lulu wearing clientele here. Maybe she was having a bad day but I doubt that cause she was laughing it up with her client...well, like they say, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

This review is from my visit experience at Onsen several months ago, so I hope their system is…read morebetter now. I hate to leave a bad review, especially since the lady at the check-in desk was extremely kind, polite, and nice. However, various aspects of this place were unacceptable. It was my first visit, which I will never revisit due to the following reasons. First, Onsen charges $50 for an entrance fee, which we are allowed to stay for two hours. However, the overall service I got was not worth the price at all. 1. I was there for the ladies-only day. The locker room area was TOO small and fully crowded to use. I waited for 7-8 minutes until people started leaving and had more space inside to squeeze in, while other people who were standing, naked and covered with towels, tried to get to their lockers. That was the check-in, and when I left, it was the same case for getting ready for check-out. I became one of the towel-covered naked people who were waiting to get to the locker, while other people were staying in the same form. I felt like I was in a low-budget high school female locker room. 2. The lotion in the female locker area was out. I purposely placed the bottle at the edge of the amenity area so that they would refill it, but in the end, the empty bottle was returned to the original spot with the inside still empty. 3. The bathing area is relatively small. And there are only two shower heads we could use, with very low pressure and dripping water, besides the larger water shower head for those who prefer cold water after bathing. The pressure was too low, and we could hardly wash our bodies to rinse off the soap. Nobody was washing their hair, and I couldn't wash mine either due to the amazingly TOO low pressure shower, which was rather dripping water from the showerhead. 4. Including the empty lotion in the powder room, their amenity inside had no label, only a self-posted "shampoo" label. It would have been nicer if we could have known what we were getting for our body, such as organic, vegan, not animal-tested, or a decent brand, etc. 5. During my two-hour stay, the cleaning person came inside the female bath area a few times to remove the used towels, but didn't care about cleaning other things inside. In such a small bathing space, there were about 20 used cups left all over, which was quite disturbing. 6. I know this is not their fault, but two young ladies inside KEPT talking for two hours quite loudly. At first, I thought I was being too sensitive, but when I moved to the sauna area, people inside whispered and complained about the chat noise they were making. I couldn't relax at all because of their private and personal stories about their work, guys they met, etc. In the end, I couldn't stop wondering if those types of young ladies are regular customers at Onsen. 7. This is the most disgusting part, which, as mentioned, I will never go back to this place. When I was getting ready to leave at the exit spot, I saw a cleaning person using the same wet cloth she had wiped the floor with, rubbing the used sandals they were providing to their guests. According to my common sense, those shared sandals/slippers are sanitized after each use, or if not, they are at least rinsed with hot water and soap, and possibly treated with a sanitizing spray. I've been to other spas in the city, like Pxxxx Spa, which constantly cleans the shared items, such as slippers, combs, and hair dryers. I didn't see any of those "caring" and "safe" considerations to maintain cleanliness for shared items for the guests at Onsen. Lastly, I felt like naming this place 'Onsen' is almost a big joke and an insult to real onsens in Japan, where we could relax in such a clean and pampering atmosphere in tranquility.
