I contacted multiple contractors and different companies and it was clear my business was never important - I'd get ghosted for appointments, took months to get quotes, and more. I finally found Smart Shield and was contacted almost immediately after requesting a callback. The owner, Bryan, was so incredibly kind, thorough, and knowledgeable. He helped customize a plan for our home based on what would remedy our current situation and prevent future issues. The process to get started was easy (and very digital which earns extra bonus points in my book) and it was a few weeks until installation. The installation went great and I've never had an issue with the windows. It went so well, that we had Smart Shield come back and put in new doors for us, more window replacements, and replace our siding. While that was a bigger job, the process was just as wonderful. The team at Smart Shield is HIGHLY communicative. The installation crew are all lovely, respectful, and masters of their craft. They have impeccable clean up after as well! They are my first call whenever we need something done and will continue to be the only company I recommend. Previous homeowners had windows installed by a contractor who sources from NBP. They are covered…read moreunder a lifetime warranty. The previous homeowners left all of their papers. We are still covered, per the warranty. Now the contractor tells us that NBP was sold and won't honor warranties anymore. This sounds crazy. I called NBP and their associate (in the rudest tone imaginable) tells me I have to talk to the contractor. The warranty I have is from the manufacturer. They are the manufacturer. Contractor is telling me the manufacturer won't replace the (defective) windows for free--I have to pay $180 per sash (half a window) and that this is a "deal." I can't believe that this is a "deal" given that--of our 8 windows (16 sashes), we have had to replace 6 sashes (37.5%) in the last 3.5 years... And where will the new sashes they want me to pay for come from? NBP. But those would be covered under a new lifetime warranty... Also, I like how they have ONE positive review... and its from a Yelper who has only posted ONE review, LOL, nice try!
