    Large Poutine
    Lucy E.

We discovered this place from word of mouth from a friend and as soon as we saw pictures of their poutine we HAD to try it. The portion sizes are astounding and you really get a great bang for your buck. My fiancé and I decided to get a little bit of everything since it was our first time at Reel Em In Fish & Chips. The shrimp was crispy and had excellent flavour as did the fritters. I also really enjoyed the tartar sauce it added a nice zest for dipping. My fiancé had only positives to say about his order of the haddock. It was a very filling portion of fish and chips. Now for my personal favourite part, the poutine! Once again I just want to say WOW! Just WOW! Just looking at the photo will make your mouth water. Everything was perfect from the cheese curds to the phenomenal gravy. I'm amazed it came from a food truck some poutines I've had in the past you can tell just aren't made with high quality products and are usually just overly salty. But not this meal on wheels! The fries had a perfect crunch but everything is better with some cheese and gravy haha. I definitely can't wait to go back and try some more items on the menu!

Great fish and chips, amazing pineapple fritters, but even better is that they do both gluten free too! AND the GF is amazing!

Had the one piece Haddock diner which came with chips and coleslaw. The fish was prepared with an English style batter which I quite like and nice crispy chips. The coleslaw was creamy style and quite good as well. The only thing I could say that would make this place any better would be to have a condiment station instead of packets and a homemade tartar sauce. Overall though quite a good meal for a fair price. I would recommend when in the area.

I had been to Mrs H's a few times over the last year, some of the best Fish & Chips I've had. I live 2 1/2 hours away and it was well worth the time and cost. Went this weekend to have the halibut and chips, arrived at 11:00 am and the line had already started. I was salivating just remembering how good it was in the past and the generous portions which made the long trip well worth it. When I opened my order, it wasn't quite the same, the fries had changed, no longer the large thick cut version of past. I thought at least the fish will make up for the fries, but unfortunately, the batter was thick and hard, the fish portion inside the batter was noticeably smaller as well. Overall a very disappointing experience. Not sure what has changed, and hate to not go back again. Anybody know if something changed?

Food was amazing - so delicious and my fiance said it was the best he ever had! I do have to echo the other reviews it is a bit pricey for the serving size. You can dine in (which we did) but you can also pick up and they offer delivery. They offer halibut, haddock, cod and basa for their fish but also have a wide selection of burgers, sandwiches and my personal favourite as a Montrealer, the poutine! We had the halibut and chips with a side of coleslaw, burger and fries and an extra order of just fries. My friend enjoyed her fries that were hand cut in house with some vinegar. The fish was crisp and the batter wasn't too thick and I loved the coleslaw that's made in house! I definitely recommend getting the coleslaw with any fish as it helps to cut the richness of the fried food. They also have a decent selection of ice cream which I did not have but my friend did. Overall, the price was friendly and the food was good and the portions were extremely generous (for someone with my appetite). I'd recommend this place for people looking for good fish and chips in the area!

I've eaten in and taken out, both of which were mostly positive experiences. The service is consistently friendly and pleasant to interact with. It feels like everyone genuinely enjoys working here, which is a big difference maker. The only minor issue is when dining in. In the first few months of being open I find that the restaurant is often packed and service can be a bit slow (as of December 2024). Other than that, service has been fantastic. As I mentioned earlier, the restaurant often seems busy if you're dining in. However, since I live so close I prefer to take out. As of now they don't have any delivery services but if you're willing to pick up for yourself they're pretty quick. I've had big orders that's I've called in and told it would be ready in 20 min. When I go to the restaurant and order (a smaller order) it's only usually about 10-15 minutes even when the restaurant is packed. The food is very, very good! The fish is battered and cooked to order, which you can see for yourself from the takeout counter. It has a delicious crispy batter while the fish stays moist. The fries (chips) are nice and thick and perfectly fried. My only minor complaint is that the fries need more salt. But that's something I can add myself. I've also tried their scallops and shrimp. Both are really good but not quite the same level of their fish. While I don't know if they're battered to order, they're still juice and fried perfectly. Worth trying! Lastly, I just wanted to mention parking. They have a few parking spots to the right of the building, which is perfect for takeout since the takeout entrance on the right side of the building. They have a few parking spots in front and then also quite a spots to the left of the building. Plenty of parking! Overall, I'm super happy Joy's Fish & Chips! I've been going fairly regularly and I've only had great experiences.

They've introduced pay-to-win mechanics into their trivia, in the form of awarding points for Wednesday's trivia to people who order entrees on Sunday-Tuesday. Needless to say, this undermines the spirit of trivia and of competition for the sake of a few extra bucks. I contacted the pub itself but they ignored me. I contacted the company that hosts the trivia, PubStumpers, but they seemed more concerned with persuading me that the pay-to-win mechanic was acceptable, rather than listening to my objection. The trivia IS fun, but now it is only fun if you don't mind that a game of skill and chance is now about skill, chance, and how much extra money you are willing to pay. Very disappointing for trivia enthusiasts.
