I was very disappointed with my experience here. I had a long pinky nail that I clearly asked him to not cut, I pointed and explained, but he cut the whole thing off. He cut up a few of my fingers while doing my cuticles but one cuticle was cut very badly and bled alot. He only did the 2nd top coat on one hand, not the other, so the polish is very rough on that hand. I wasn't informed about the extra charge for the polish I'd picked until I paid at the end. Wow. Wow! Don't bother with this place. I went in for a pedicure & gel manicure. I have my own gel. The girl at the front kept asking me to pick a color. I said I have my own gel, I don't know how many times. I waited 15min then my pedicure began. I soaked in the bowl for a minute before it drained the water. Not more than two minutes were spent on the cuticles. 30 seconds total on scrubbing both my feet. 10min massage was 5. There were skin tags on my toes & I had to ask for him to cut them. He said I have small toes so he can't see. Right. It was a huge skin tag! Oh & the gel manicure never happened. I spent $60 on service that i have to fix at home. As many have said DO NOT GO HERE FOR ACRYLICS. I had a beautiful set done in Santa Rosa and came to Redwood Nails Spa for a fill. After about 5 minutes of work I noticed that the skin around my nails (wherever he was brushing liquid) was burning and swelling. I told him it was hurting and he had no suggestions for a potential allergic reaction. This is beyond irresponsible and they should have protocol in place for situations like this. I have had many fills in my life and never had a reaction like this. By the time I told him to stop entirely my set was destroyed. I drove home barely able to hold the steering wheel properly I was in that much pain. I was so disappointed that he hurt me, said nothing and destroyed my set I was hoping to enjoy for a long time. This salon is only great at gel mani and pedis. Do not come here for acrylics. I was there 12pm-3 pm. I had photo referencing what I wanted. Gel Pedicure went great ! Loved everything about the ladies in there. My acrylic was sadly another story. The gentleman in there rushed so much and stopped mid set about 7 times for different reasons( phone, checking out other clients.) I did speak up 3 time about the discomfort/pain. I asked for a French tips (photos shown) they looked nothing like the picture so i told him I didn't like them. He said he would need two hours for French tip and he's too busy. So I asked him to do a solid color and he just starts painting over the French too he attempted to do. This is what I left with... Really wanted to like my experience and continue supporting this local business especially after hearing from a few customers that "this is the best nail salon in Eureka" but unfortunately I couldn't. I would give this a 0-1 star but I gave them 2 since the staff was nice overall. I called to schedule an appointment for me and my best friend. I'm her maid of honor and we were getting our nails done before her wedding happening on the weekend. I made sure to request that we get our mani/pedis done together since this was part of our girls day pampering pre-wedding. The staff knew everything we wanted individually (e.g. I needed my old dip powder removed before the mani/pedi). When we arrived we were not seated together. I ended up getting my mani done and my friend had her pedi done so we were across the room from each other. I asked if we could be seated together as requested when I scheduled the appointment but they said because my nails would take too long to remove we needed to get that done before the pedi and there was no way we could be seated. I completely understand what they're saying, but it would've been great to be told this beforehand when I originally scheduled the appointment. Also, I get my nails done pretty often. Although, I don't do them often in the area since I now live out of Eureka, but I've had every other nail salon I've been to accommodate my needs. Another situation that was disappointing is that I was told we were unable to do designs on our nails. My best friend is very relaxed and didn't mind but it was her wedding week and I wanted her to have everything she wanted. She asked for a simple leaf design to match her theme with a nude base. They said they couldn't do that. I've seen a few designs on the Yelp images so I was a bit confused. This part I take partial accountability for because I recognized I could've asked ahead of time, but I have never had a salon tell me they don't do designs period. I may have been told a design is too complicated but all my friend wanted was a simple leaf design that even I could've done. If they're adamant about not doing designs this would be great to be told ahead of time since it's been uncommon for me to hear nail salons that don't do designs. On top of that, my friend showed the technicians the color she wanted for her mani/pedi. They completed her pedi and then told her that the mani color was too light for her nails and wouldn't look as nice as her pedi. My best friend is very understanding so she was willing to make the change but the colors did not match. Her toes were an opal nude while her nails were a pink nude. A very minor detail, but again it's her wedding week and after being told she couldn't get her design this was the last thing I wanted to hear for her. On my end, I also had to change what I wanted to do since I wanted to get a design done too. I changed what I wanted to a basic gel French manicure instead. After my 1st choice was denied, I wanted to do a French manicure with dip ombré glitter but when I showed them the picture I wanted they said, "that's not dip powder that's acrylic". I have had that specific ombré done at other nail salons in dip powder so being told I couldn't get it done was frustrating but I didn't want to argue so I said I'll settle for a basic gel French manicure. After being seated and having my old dip powder removed, I was told I needed to do acrylic or dip because my nail was too brittle. At this point I just have them do whatever they think is best because I just want my nails done so I can leave. I got my nails done and the French tip is a bit messy but I don't complain. Then, as I'm getting my pedi, my mani immediately chips out of nowhere. Thankfully they fixed it, but the technician stacked the nail polish on top of the old polish which made it feel and look thick. I got my nails done on a Wednesday. The day of the bachelorette (Thursday) my gel pedi already chipped. Then Sunday (thankfully after the wedding) my mani chipped (image included). After everything I went through the day of the appointment, I decided not to give a low rating review because I don't want to do that to local businesses, but after my nail chipping multiple times in less than a week and for what I paid for I couldn't keep silent. I hope to share this to the business so they can improve as I'd love to come back and continue supporting this local business but won't do so until I see change. read more

I had Kien for my nail artist, and he was anything but gentle. i have multiple cuts from him using the machine on my cuticles over and over again, and had gotten acrylic all over my fingers, not just my nails. he filed my skin down really hard to the point where it burned when i washed my hands. I had had gel nails done. it felt really rushed and my nails kept snagging everywhere. 2 years later, I just got a simple manicure, white. It was rushed again. They didn't tell me how long to sit there. After 10 minutes j looked at my nails and I kid you not, about 20 little air bubbles on EACH NAIL. I asked for a re-do, because it looked horrid. Also there had been uneven brushing, so it wasn't uniform at all. The guy at the front desk came over and brushed over the air bubbles with a new bottle, which got rid of the look, but now there were even more uneven layers. It was just humiliating being there, I just paid and left. It was only $20 and I paid no tip- I usually do. Wish I had pictures. My sister also had had her nails done here, which were fake nails. The shaping and texture was HUMILIATING. She had to ask for several to be re done. It just doesn't make sense why they can't tell what good nails look like. God, their Yelp reviews tricked me. I went here with big hopes of getting a decent nail job. While the pedi was good, hence the two stars, the manicure was less than to be desired. There are a few sentiments here that shared the same experience, probably conducted by the same person, on the less than stellar manicure. This guy has no business doing nails and he should just probably just run the business only. So it started off well. I got my pedicure done by a polite gentleman and it was good. Then I saw a younger man giving a manicure to a lady that kept complaining he was doing it wrong. I was hoping not to get him and then I did. Damn. First, he was abrasive. Second, he had a "I don't give a sh*t" attitude. I should have declined. Coulda, woulda, shoulda - it's all too late. I did mention that unhappy with his manicure but he kept brushing it off. He wasn't looking into correcting anything and I paid anyways knowing how hard it is to run a small business is a smaller town. But, the pictures will show that this was beyond bad.
