Mendocino Redwoods RV Resort - Sign that says no shoes yet very unsafe for kids with broken pieces everywhere

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: This place is on another level…read more My wife and I have stayed at plenty of RV resorts, and I can confidently say this is the best one we've ever visited... hands down! If you're traveling through Northern California, put this place on your list. In fact, we'd go out of our way just to stay here again. What makes it so impressive is that they've thought of everything. There's a dog park, mini golf, a kids' fun zone, a train pickup location, a hot tub, incredible views, and even dedicated areas that are perfect for taking photos, shooting content, or capturing some seriously cool social media shots. But the amenities are only part of it. The entire property is beautifully maintained, the grounds are incredible, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, knowledgeable, and welcoming. You can tell there's a real attention to detail here that separates this place from your typical RV resort. We originally planned this trip around visiting the Redwoods, but after staying here, our next Northern California trip might be planned around the resort itself. It's the kind of place where you could easily park the RV, forget the itinerary, and spend a few days doing absolutely nothing except relaxing and enjoying everything the property has to offer. And did I mention the hot tub, the views, and all the ridiculously cool amenities? Seriously... what a place! If you're anywhere near this part of Northern California, stay here. And even if you're not exactly nearby, it's worth the detour. 10/10. We'll absolutely be back.

I stayed here a week in a Class A motorhome. I had a wife, teenager, an 8-year old, and a Corgi…read more Everyone liked the experience. We plan to come back next year. Suggestions for improvements would be to just keep things maintained. Don't put a sign on something if it is broke, fix it. Way too many signs about everything. Make a disc golf map. Post the Skunk train schedule so we know when to go to the depot. Keep the mini-golf area nice. Make improvements. Actually put up a basketball hoop. Put up a volleyball net and weed the court.

Westport Beach RV Park and Campground, Westport, CA - August 29, 2023…read moreYou've just completed the curviest, upanddowniest, slowest 25 mile stretch of road you could ever imagine - from Highway 101 at Leggett to Westport on the coast along Highway 1. Challenging even in a normal-sized car, try doing it in a Class A motor home, towing a car. It's even more testing. And we passed the test, all in one piece an hour later; two pieces if you count the tow car! We pulled in to the RV Park at about 3:30. Not our first time here, so we knew we were in for a treat. The weather was a balmy 68 degrees, no wind, not a cloud in the sky. We've just landed in paradise. It's about a quarter mile down from the main road to where you checkin at beach level. There is a store at the checkin area that has some basic survival items, including ice cream, wine, beer, and an assortment of candy and chips. They probably have some additional items with nutritive value, but I only saw the shiny stuff. They also sell fishing licenses and have ice, and you can top off your propane tanks there as well! They have a variety of campsites here, full rv hookup sites, small basic cabins, tent camping, and camping on the beach. You can have campfires down on the beach. Highway 1 practically runs into the park, but don't despair, not many people care to make the arduous drive mentioned above, so there really isn't much traffic noise. Although getting a site close to the beach sounds alluring, we like to stay further away towards the back of the park near the road to be protected from the wind, which occasionally rises to gale force strength. How strong is a gale? Google says "45 to 62 miles per hour or 74 to 100 kilometers per hour." Our experience on the second day we were here was probably closer to 30 mph. But you get the point. Dogs are allowed on the beach, but must be kept on a leash. You might also see a sign to pick up after your dog (yeah, no, duh), and they do have poop receptacles here and there. They supposedly have bears here, and they ask that you dump your trash in the outdoor garbage cans by 7 pm so they can remove it before the bears get there. We never saw or heard any evidence of bears. I love that a lot of the sites here have hedges separating one site from another. Privacy is always nice from a visual, sound, and smoke standpoint. The smoke from our neighbor's rookie fire/smoke bomb did seem to funnel away from us, so yay hedge! Depending on the time of year, this park can get pretty busy, and that can change the vibe - kids playing, dogs barking, everyone enjoying a campfire fire, etc. While we were here, the place was probably less than half full and it was actually pretty peaceful if you like that kind of thing. Listening to the ocean from our campsite now as I finish this post and loving it!

We love beach camping here. It's never been difficult to reserve space here. No wait list…read morewhatsoever.
