service was good. ambience was cute, old timey. the food and drink was a little iffy. we all got water to start, and i understand there's nothing they can do about it but the water tasted veryyyy iron heavy? left a very weird taste in your mouth. the coke was similar, tasted strange. my mom got the country fried steak and really enjoyed it, i thought it was kind of average and flavorless? my dad got the burger and said it was good. my sister got the chicken motz and said it was good, but not really anything to write home about. i got the chicken rodeo and the way the chicken breast fit on the bun left a lot of open space on the bun. maybe a different bun style would be better for the shape of the breast? the bbq sauce that was on it was super sweet, not really my taste. overall, i think it's pretty average and a perfectly alright spot to go if you just got done tubing down the river :) read more

Really enjoyed my first trip to Red's. I had the western and so did my mother. Dad ordered a custom omelet based on the Meat Lover's. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the ambiance. There is some really cool time period license plates and metal marketing panels as decorations. I was happy that we sat next to the fireplace, and I immediately knew there was a real fire that had been recently extinguished by the aroma of the fire. Meals were full sized, and neither my parents finished. Staff was beyond superb, they quickly flipped their tables and were polite. Table, booth, and bar seating. Eggs were way over cooked, sausage was under cooked, and potatoes were cold. Heard this place was good but from my experience I say not good. Been going to Red's since it opened ! So it saddens me to have to write this review! I stopped in for Lunch this past week and got my first bad meal there ever. I ordered a Meat Ball sandwich and a side order of fruit. First of all the fruit was dried out and stale looking. That was ok I let it slide. But when I got my sandwich it was another story. They weren't even meat balls ; they looked like flattened pieces of hamburger with a little sauce on top .Then as I started eating it ; I ran into these hard pieces of meat ; like overcooked ; reused meat. They were about the size of grapes . At that point I no longer could enjoy my meal and left. Now I had many a good meal at Red's ; but this is one I would definitely scratch off the menu in the future ! I know how popular this restaurant is but this being my 4th time time here will be my last. The waitress was horrible, my wife's eggs were not hot, home fries were good, toast was delivered late & was soggy. Last year I saw a massive plate of crispy country fried steak & decided to try it. I had the gravy on the side & the chicken fried steak left over pieces & was soggy. The green beans were the most disgusting I have ever had. We will never return to to this place. My favorite place where the waitresses are sweet and helpful and I don't have to worry about my food being undercooked or worse. I am thankful we have a Nice place like this to go. The place makes you feel like you're eating in grammas house. Love the French toast. They should get better syrup. I wouldn't mind paying more for good syrup. My wife and I enjoyed an occasional stop here at Reds. We decided we will no longer stop here, The prices have gone out of control. Crazy like. We also felt the quality of the food declined as well. It was great while it lasted, but would no longer recommend this place at all. I will say there waitress staff is great. I stopped here for breakfast while visiting family in Ocala this week. We pulled in and there were a bunch of cars for breakfast on a Tuesday morning so I took that as a good sign. Our party of 5 was seated in the back at a long table with plenty of space. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was quickly served and refills were offered multiple times on our coffee and water. The food was very good and portion sizes are huge. I enjoyed two overeasy eggs with toast and potatoes. My husband enjoyed the southwestern omelet which was packed full of sausage and veggies. My aunt ordered one pancake and it was massive, it was literally hanging over the sides of the plate and was over an inch thick in the middle. We had breakfast on the patio overlooking the water. I enjoyed the eggs benedict. The egg was nicely done and oozy. The hollandaise was just enough, not smothered like you get in some places. Potatoes were seasoned but I looked to add a little salt, but because of the humidity the salt did not pour. (I would suggest a grinder style instead of a shaker). My sister had the egg sandwich with bacon. I made the mistake of saying "well done", next time I'll say "Crispy ". She said the coffee was good too. I like the places atmosphere, the food is great! That being said their waitresses are rude and don't explain the restaurants rules utilize after you order. I ordered sausages with my food. I was never told that they had my give flat sausages unless you ask. No how the hell are you suppose to know that unless you are told. So they are upset when I told them to replace them. It's a bit off the beaten path perhaps, but as soon as you see the amount of vehicles in the parking lot you'll realize that it's worth the drive from wherever you may roam. It's also surprisingly large inside, so don't let the number of cars in the parking lot deter you from coming in. The food was awesome. I had the aptly titled "gut buster" consisting of two eggs, two sausage links or patties, grits (or potatoes) and two of the largest pancakes I've ever encountered. Everything was fresh and tasty. Breakfast, brunch and lunches only, they're open from 7am - 2pm every day except Monday. Location is near the Withlacoochee River just off Hwy 200 southwest of Ocala. The grounds outside are pleasantly landscaped and nice to walk around after enjoying your meal. Servers were friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. After trying to eat here on three different occasions, finally made it. No vacation or holiday and we were excited, we heard great things about Red's. I ordered a pancake, I heard they were plate sized and that was no lie, more like platter sized. Only two pads of butter among the margarine, which we don't eat and hubby had a biscuit, so we had to share. The butter was sucked up immediately and I resorted to putting syrup on each bite after it was on my fork. The pancake was dry and syrup didn't help. I was mortified as I watched the full bottle go down. Stopped eating, way too much syrup to moisten it. Hubby got two eggs, two sausage, potatoes and a biscuit along with coffee. Eggs and potatoes were perfectly cooked, although the potatoes could have been seasoned a little heavier. Sausage was overcooked and biscuit was dry. Being raised on biscuits, they are one of his favs, he left half on his plate. Coffee cup was never refilled, fortunately he saved a swallow for the end of the meal. When checking out, the cashier asked how our meals were. As he told her, she said he should have sent something back. The waitress never checked on us until we were done eating and she dropped off the check and nonchalantly asked "everything ok". She didn't wait for a response. Hubby was told she is one of the best. Will we go back again? Nope. Priced a little higher than we usually expect breakfast to be and not quite as good as my cooking. read more
