We had brunch at Red's Diner in Ramsay on a Saturday in May, and I have to say that we experienced the worst service we have had at a restaurant ever. We sat in their covered patio area which felt a bit like sitting in a tropical greenhouse, because the staff did not want to open the roll-up enclosures for fear of letting in too much smoke( from the forest fires burning in the province) into the restaurant so instead they left us steaming in their hot box. We had to stand up and go ask for the servers to take our order, meanwhile other diners who came in much after us had ordered and eaten their meals by the time we even received our food, and zero acknowledgement of the delay By any of the staff who appeared more interested in chatting amongst themselves than helping customers. The food which took almost a full hour to be delivered to our table, was pretty good, but we had waited so long that by the time it came we had to pack it up in take out boxes and rush out. A truly memorably bad experience at this restaurant, which I hope never to return to. This was a masterclass in horrible service. read more

It's usually a little on the louder side as it's a happening place so if you're looking for white glove service and hush hush ambiance find some else. We had a long wait even after calling, but the food was great and our server was attentive!

Horrible customer service. We waited on the waitlist for 40 minutes. When we checked in they offered us a bad seat and my husband said we needed a lower table as I'm 8.5 months pregnant and their bar stools don't even have backs. They asked if we could wait another 10-15 minutes for a lower table we said no problem. 15 minutes later we were notified our table was ready, and they brought us to a bar seat again. We said we couldn't sit there and waited for a lower table to which the guy said he knew but that's all he had .. so we could wait another chunk of time who knew how long, even though we were #1 on the waitlist and we even selected accessible low seating in the original waitlist request .. we ended up just leaving. This family owned restaurant is like visiting friends. The food is tasty and plentiful. What sets Reds apart is the service. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Came here for Sunday brunch and I'm very glad we called ahead! The wait was out the door and 40 min+ when we arrived. There are many breakfast and lunch options on the menu, including gluten free and vegan options if you require! I ordered the caprese benny. The combination of the tomato basil hollandaise sauce and the balsalmic reduction was perfect. Perfectly cooked soft potatoes. Great service despite how busy it was. Yum! Comfort food brunch was exactly what I was looking for when visiting Calgary during a frigid (and snowy!) stretch. There's a great app (No wait) that many brunch places in Calgary use (Vancouver seriously needs this) where you can reserve your place in line. It's awesome. Table was available shortly after our arrival. Huge menu. Good sized portions. Loved my Montreal smoked meat hash and eggs - so good! They have quite a few bread options to choose from too... the cheddar sourdough was perfect with this. I think everyone in my group was happy with their food. Friendly service. It's been awhile since I've been to Calgary but pricing is on par with Vancouver, which surprised me a little. read more

Didn't like anything about this place... always see it as it is down the street from my house. Finally went after 5 years of living in the neighborhood. And we went with kids. We didn't have to wait for a table witch was nice, but the food was disgusting, mother in-law sent our food back cause neither kids or us could eat it, yes you heard right. Even the kids who eat everything don't want it. That's bad if a kid won't eat it and it was chicken fingers and fries. We tasted it as well and didn't like it. We sent it back. They gave us free ice cream to try and make up for it. I'm sorry but REALLY? Wow... what's that going to do, other then make the kids hyper. Anyways service wasn't good, cramped sitting, table wear, and coffee mugs looked as if they grabbed it used from a bin in back ally, that someone threw away, everything was mis match. Over priced, for the expireance, and quality. Never going back. And they have weird hours of operation, but overall the washrooms are very clean. So there's that at least. They can clean. This place is great! First time here but the atmosphere is very cozy and chill. The menu is a wide selection, although it is quite pricey. The serving portion however is large, so it works out well. Food tastes good! The eggs used are fresh farm eggs that the yolk is orange. Makes me wonder what else food here is fresh. Staff is friendly and parking is moderately big, if over parking you can park on the street. This location seems to get busy at certain times but the dining space is quite big, with a bar area. Washrooms are well kept. When Comparing this to Denny's, this is definitely upper class food. I'll be coming back here again for sure. Maybe even take someone special to eat here with, or share a plate. Recommended for anyone looking to try different food styles. read more

Always driving by thinking I should try this place for brunch. lol Finally gave it a try on the busiest day of the week, but Yelp's Nowait feature was great! We got there a little earlier than expected time and checked in. They made sure to accommodate us ASAP. (Within 15 minutes for a large party of 7.) I ordered the Ramsay Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was so creamy and rich but not too rich. The potatoes were okay. Coffee is amazing!! Avocado toast was yummy! Service was outstanding! I'm definitely going back as a treat. The prices are a bit on the higher side compared to other brunch joints inner city such as OEB. It was worth it though. Service made up for the high prices. Ha! read more

Very popular diner in the Ramsay area. Excellent food and the staff are attentive, surprisingly so considering how busy it gets over the weekends. Establishment is very loud though and could benefit from opening the windows to let some of the acoustics out. Food is way better, and get what you paid for. Outrages pricing for nothing. Kids even hated it. And that's a bad thing they love to eat and they wouldn't. Great spot built in an older brick building in an older neighbourhood. Loved the vibe and the source locally which is important to me. Came here because some website said it had one of the best eggs Benny in yyc I can say the eggs Benny were very tasty! The sauce was creamy and so yummy. I do like the lemon in my sauce stinger so that's the only thing I wud critique. The potatoes that came with were also SO tasty. Smaller sized and had a crispyness to them and a very nice slight seasoning. Comes with a couple wedges of fruit. The service was very good as well. Afton was our server and she was personable!!
