Climb west Nashville is a massive step up in layout space and design. And Murfreesboro location is by far the best Stairs located in the middle "hangout area" very overcrowded, mats only 6 or so feet from the walls, which puts everyone watching on the edges of the mats and center of the gym with no room to walk anywhere. Holds are the worst I've experienced in gym climbing, many of the holds are loose, and it seems like there are way too many routes set to perhaps make up for the fact that there isn't a lot of wall to work with, but the route setters must be high, arrows pointing in wrong directions with no clear start holds identified on most v2-v5 routes. Lastly the largest section of the climbing area is the cave, which nobody seems to use or at least is under utilized, just go to Murfreesboro or West. Seems like they need a max capacity or a website to book times on to free up some space, also they need to have some route setters from a different location to come to the rescue. Overall super friendly climbers and staff!

Apparently you have to go online to do it but that was not communicated as it should've been. There was then months of accruing charges after that. Fast forward a few months and it became a whole annoying to do contacting people all the way up to the GM to get my account back in good order so I could climb again.

The staff are always so helpful, and private instruction has been useful. Everyone is always willing to cheer for you and lend tips and beta when asked. We especially love being able to visit later on weeknights after work and have the gym largely to ourselves. I highly recommend to anyone looking to try climbing for the first time or join a climbing community.

On your way to the restroom they have lockers for your belongings. their route setters do a great job with creative routes, both for low and high grades! CONS: While traveling the USA to rate gyms, the worst thing is always a "Shirt on policy". When climbing some like to be free and mandating shirts is a no go at any gym. The atmosphere in the gym is a bit different than other CLIMB owned gyms. You will fill as though you are more so climbing alone than as a climbing community.

That could be one of the reasons the kilter board is frequently broken. I know they have been trying to address the chalk problem by vacuuming more but it has not solved the issue. This place has different chalk eaters than West or East so something technical is wrong here. Like I said, love the gym it'll just be so much better once they get a handle on the chalk.

This is the most open cavern I have ever been in and you almost feel like you are in a dark warehouse, it's so big! No "tight" spaces of any kind. Heights might be your issue if that is a concern. If you have any climbing, repelling, spelunking, or exploring experience, this is a "walk in the park" for you. No experience is needed and they take care of everything. There is literally something for everybody who has any interest in jumping off the couch and being active. From free sand volleyball games and weekly discounted group rock-climbing meets to East Nasty's running group and weekend adventure trips, there is always something on their comprehensive calendar of events! I was originally tempted to join when Yelp partnered up with TG during our January Elite Event at Climb Nashville but with the Earth Day promotion going on now that discounts the membership from $50 to just $10 through the end of April. Let's be honest though... $50 for a yearly membership isn't something to cry about either. For an extremely low price ($35 for the year) you can join TG and take advantage of discounts around town as well as an action-packed events calendar with things like rock climbing, hiking, ropes courses (I did one of these, wow it was awesome), bike rides, and day trips for camping as well as volunteer opportunities throughout Nashville. You have the chance to win prizes as a member like concert tickets and there are discounts offered at local stores. They participate in local events like Earth Day and the Dragon Boat races. This is a great group for anyone, of all ages, backgrounds, work schedules, etc. This isn't a singles group or a married people group or a only-go-with-people-you-know group...this is Nashville at its finest, people out to experience and explore and help their community and be active within it.
