I go here many times. Far too many times. Each visit feels like a magical town straight out of a fantasy book. The fresh scent of seafood draws you into the pier, with the soft sounds of the birds above and from the thrashing waves of the sea below. The pier is a nice place to walk around and relax, sometimes a little bit crowded. And if you are lucky, some days might have less people. But regardless, Redondo beach has some of the best buildings. It's a good place to go fishing outside or buying fish. They have a variety of markets selling fish out there. Although I can say I had a good experiance, I will admit that it can be pricey. The shops have very expensive souvenirs unlike the last time I visited long ago. I haven't been to the restaurants yet, well some of them. But I have tried the churros and the Chinese food. The churros tasted good, my favorite item to buy whenever I visit. And for anyone who wants to save, it would be a really good snack to try when visiting. The other foods I tried tasted good, but I feel like the pricing is a bit too much. I will rate this a five because despite the high pricing, me and my family will continue to come to Redondo Beach for a nice walk. Thank you for the experiance. read more

Strand Bikes in Hermosa Beach Go see Jeff at Strand bikes in Hermosa Beach. I bought my son an electric bike from Strand bikes in August of 2025. Jeff is incredibly knowledgeable on all bikes. He educated my son and I both on everything with the bike. He put it together himself at the shop. After a month we bought it back to the shop for a tune up make sure everything is working up to par. Jeff has gone above and beyond in service a few times he came over to the house so I did t have to bring the bike in did a few repairs at the house and other times picked the bike up and dropped it off. I am so grateful I bought the bike from a shop where I can call up when something goes wrong or with a question. So much better than buying on line. Very happy with our experience read more

Redondo means round in Spanish. The beach was originally part of the 1758 Rancho San Pedro Spanish land grant. The city is 6.2 sq miles and its primary attractions are the Municipal Pier and the beach itself. While I love the beach, I rarely go. One, I can't be out in the sun for extended periods. Two, parking is always a hassle. Honestly, I prefer the beach just before sundown so I can see the beautiful sunset. Even though I grew up in Cali, I don't recall ever going to Redondo Beach. I recently met up with a friend at the Municipal Pier for dinner. We sat at a table overlooking the beach. It was nice to see people enjoying their time on the sand and in the water and also watching the seagulls. One guy was digging a hole so deep I thought he was going to bury a body. The beach and pier are nice. There are several places to eat and shop. There is also a large parking garage that is conveniently located next to the pier with easy beach access. Really nice beach to take a long shore walk, with compacted sand if you want to get your feet wet, or dedicated, paved bike and pedestrian paths otherwise. I came by myself on a Thursday to visit the Redondo Beach Farmer's Market, located in the parking lot of Veteran's Park, right next to the Pier. Afterwards, I decided to take a walk on the beach South to the very end, to the spot by wife and I had come a couple months ago, but from the Palos Verdes side (near Malaga Bay). My thought was: "If I can see it, I can walk to it". A bit later decided: New goal: get to the end of Redondo Beach and the start of Torrance Beach, which is 1.6 miles (Miramar Park seems to be the divider between the two beaches). There are three ways to walk the beach. The sand is compacted enough to walk with shoes, or barefoot if on surf. At sea level, there is a concrete dedicated bike path further inland, which is what most people were using, but imagine it can get quite busy and I'm not a fan of sharing two lane paths with fast traveling bicylists. Higher up on the bluffs, there is a pedestrian only public walk way parallel to the beach, right next to million dollar homes (small, but having unobstructed views into the Pacific). The bluff trail is interesting...wide enough, but no fencing....the drop is far enough to seriously hurt someone if not careful. Along the way, saw quite a few pods of dolphins traveling north, very visible from the shoreline. There are public access right of ways throughout the beach area. A good parking spot would be the two large LA County Beach parking lots near Miramar Park. From there, you can decide if you want to visit Torrance Beach or Redondo Beach. I think we will do that next time, trying to make it all the way to RAT beach/Malaga Bay. read more

Visiting Redondo Beach is always a great time. The traffic can be a bear but just relax, you will be fine. There is so much to do there. It is a great place to live. There is so much shopping at malls and little shops. The food offered is for the most part great. You can have fast food or some of the best fine dinning and everything in between. You name the type of food and Redondo Beach has it. It has everything. The Pier is large and fun. The beach is wonderful. There are some surfing areas but not a lot. It is safe to swim there and there is plenty of beach to just lay down and relax. You can stay at a motel or a beautiful hotel, it is up tp you and your budget. It is great for walking, there are parks and if you like to bike, this is the place for you. We love Redondo and come here as often as we can. The home prices are too steep for us or we would move here. The people are friendly and all ages. The sunsets are beautiful as are the sun rises. If you have not been, it is a must. read more

There's nothing not to love about Redondo Beach. Great waves and swimming and the beautiful green hill of Palos Verdes rising up in the very near southern foreground. The bike path is excellent, there are plenty of good restaurants and shops a couple of blocks from the beach, but not acting as a commercial hemming-in of this beautiful and natural part of South Bay. Lots of classic, old-school California-style low-rise apartment buildings with views of the sea. And the pier with its excellent fish options for real people, not just rich tourists. We miss our now-closed Canadian diner from years back (you don't run into too many of those) but sadness is part of our lot, and there are worse places to feel sad in than Redondo Beach. read more

Redondo Beach is a nice way to spend the day away from the hustle and bustle. It is a bit another world (even if not far from way), a nice place to decompress, go to the beach, check out the pier, the shops, have a nice meal out and walk around. We have been going to Redondo for over 10 years and it is a relaxing place to go, but not boring. We love the Marina, pretty lively and fun and enjoy discovering streets, stores around the beach. Parking got worse over time especially at the main parking structure, in the summer it fills up fast. We came here for a few 4th of July since they had fireworks over the water, always pretty. Decent eateries, nothing gourmet, just OK seafood, not a culinary scene. Nice beach area to check out not far from LA! read more

Besides parking situation, you cannot go wrong go to this beach! Very family friendly!

It was very foggy here at the beach today. The wind was so cold and really chilly to play on the beach. The quality of the sand is okay. The way from the hills to the beach is extremely dangerous. The sand steps are very narrow and steep. And the slopes are loose and fragile. When we tried to get down to the beach, a lady on a nearby hill fell down very hard and she dropped at least 8 to 9 feet down to a relatively plain area. Her arms and hands got injured and kept bleeding. We gave her some band aids. Thank God she didn't fell more down to the deep gap or got more severe injuries. This is HORRIBLE. read more

This Esplanade walk way in Redondo Beach is home to many walkers, sunset watchers, visitor's for all occasions and ocean lovers. I personally have walked this sidewalk thousands of times and will continue to for the rest of my days. Redondo does a great job keeping the beach clean. There's usually a lifeguard on duty at Ave C. Strolled around on the nice walkway after having lunch. Path accommodated for bike riding, jogging and runners too. Lots of surfers trying to catch a wave out here as well. The family and I have been coming to Redondo Beach since I moved to Los Angeles in 2015 ( I honestly prefer Santa Monica beach as it's my favorite ) any who the family prefers this location as it reminds them of home! The times that family and I came it has never been OVERLY packed until we went on 10/03/20 and it was so PACKED. No one was really wearing face masks. My dude decided to keep his on during the entire time at the beach. It was the first time the dude came to the beach with the family and I so it was another memorable time spent here. My nieces had a blast and enjoyed playing in the water and building their sand castles. My mom and dad looked so lovely as they walked hand in hand in the water! My sister and her love and my other sister and her husband all appeared like they all having a good time including my uncle too! There's parking structure but on 10/03/20 the lot was full so we had to park above the structure which for 3 hours it was only $6 which is not bad at all! The water was so beautiful and cold but once your body gets use to it you will be fine! There was no social distancing at all going on. They had life guards on duty. They have a pier with shopping and food! Overall the family, dude and I had a blast and can not wait to return! read more

The good: The sand here is fine and soft. The water was surprisingly very warm and great for swimming. There are a lot of paved walkways around here where you can bike, walk, skate or roller blade. There are lots of beach volleyball areas set up. It isn't too crowded. I found street parking for free. There are nice grassy picnic areas as well that are clean and spacious. They also have a kids playground and public restroom. The bad: The waves are a little stronger so be careful if you have small children. There was also a lot of seaweed and kelp that made it less fun to swim in the beach. Most of the parking is metered and doesn't take credit card. So come prepared with coins. The interesting: There's a beautiful public library here by the beach and park. It was the location where Hotel Redondo once was back in the early 1900s. It's sad to know that the hotel closed and was demolished because it looked beautiful! read more

Get there early or you'll be dodging people, dogs, and bikes during your routine. Finish up at the 72 step thigh burner, otherwise known as the Ave C stairs. Always a fresh ocean breeze to cool you down. Catalina Ave runs parallel to the Esplanade and is less crowded, the trade off being no ocean view. read more

I'd rather say dreams created by a conscious mind in order to reach an ideal outcome. Wow, based on my life, which is the path I took with the choices I made; I really didn't have a dream wedding. When the idea came to me, as I pursued information as to how to have a Wedding at the beach on the Sand, it just worked out. Everything seemed to work out creating a most wonderful occasion in my life. It is not a City location but it is County. I began the inquiries, I realized the counties's website per my experience is not the most user friendly website. I did have to make a few phone calls in addition to submitting an application and following the guidelines for a party of over 50 people with your own decoration. (Not professional) The steps were pretty easy very basic seems understandable. The time frame is good as well (although I recommend you must follow up your self) The phone calls I had to make were quite easy once I spoke to someone. The staff is very good I had a great experience with them. My wedding was perfect for our current 6ft distance requirements and Comfort. As with anything else once the location is set and once everything is done my particular plans did not come out as I had predicted. But the place itself is so beautiful that nothing that went wrong mattered it was simply the best outcome for the dream I create it. read more

Just had to give a quick review for those who may travel to Redondo Beach CA. This is the avenues ,named that because most streets are Ave A , Ave B etc,you get the idea. Good parking along the Esplanade which is right on the beach. Great place for surfing ( sometimes depending on waves ),bike riding , jogging or walking. Very safe area and a lot of sand to play in. Always check the weather it can be very warm or overcast so some days. Always meet great people here , and a very safe place to be day or night. Grew up on these beaches , if only they could talk. Well maybe better they can't lol. Taking a couple mile walk now but wanted to give the beach a shout out. Overcast today but never a bad day on the beach of Redondo. read more

I lived in RB for several years, great community and real people. The city has all the resources you could want and some nice beaches, less crowded than Hermosa and Manhattan. I would recommend beach-goers pick a spot away from The Pier; that place is MAJORLY CROWDED with families and swarming kids...if you have ever been, you know exactly what I mean. (from Yelp bud: Johnny G) There are several areas that have few beach goers because it's a bit of an inconvenience to get down to the sand. Plan to 'beach' towards the Avenues with "letters" for names: I, F, C, that's where you can be somewhat secluded. If you have kids, plan to bring a bike or skateboard, the boardwalk/strand runs safely from the foothills of Palos Verdes to the Redondo Beach Pier. But explain safety and ridding etiquette, it can be dangerous. Enjoy the beauty, but respect the beaches, leave it cleaner than when you arrived, there are plenty of trash receptacles - NO EXCUSES. My family loves parking on the esplanade to watch the sunset, it provides a picturesque perch to appreciate the majestic ending of another blessed day (see my photo). read more

One of the best underrated beaches in the Los Angeles area. I come here every spring and summer to indulge in volleyball sports and surfing waves in the ocean. Yes, I learned how to surf a long time ago as a black man. 2 months ago, we came here to get my waves on. But I usually surf near home at my local Huntington Beach area. But, Redondo also has great bars and restaurants. Nice locals and places to bring family at festivals here. I love the annual Kite Festival they have coming soon. There were many people but I was still able to maintain my social distancing meaning it wasn't overwhelmingly packed. I went to do an application no one was in the rental office I tried again the following day and the same issue no one in the office. I attempted to try the following week and the same thing no one in the office. This is the senior building in Redondo Beach named The Seasons. I went another day with my grandson and upon walking around I was shocked at the unkept grounds and still no.one was in the office. This is a senoir building and for no one to be in the office is uncanny to me what if a family member need someone to do a welfare check on their senoir family member and the office is empty thats bad rating. City of Redondo Beach Redondo Beach Pier Riviera Village Topaz Beach I've reviewed all of these, in Redondo, over the years...and now I notice that Redondo Beach beach has its own reviews. So I'll throw in my 2 cents. Redondo's beach is not my fave beach in LA area. I think the best beach is in Manhattan Beach, north of the MB Pier, in front of the park called Bruce's Beach. (Yes, Bruce's Beach is not a beach, it's a park.) Confused? Yeah, life's a beach. So go to the beach to clear your head! So why 5 stars for RB beach that's not even my fave? Because it's the one I see every day, the closest one to home, so I've developed affection for it. And the only time I've seen it super-crowded is on the 4th of July every year, for watching fireworks. So, there's that, too. The tourists haven't found their way this far down the coast....yet. Fingers crossed. Topaz Beach is a Redondo Beach beach, but is distinctive due to its jetty & has its own reviews. Redondo's beach, the longest continuous stretch, lies between RB Pier & RAT Beach (Right At Torrance). Yep, a sliver of Torrance goes all the way to the ocean. Haven't seen any rats lately. I think the best part about Redondo Beach's beach are the views of it, below, as you walk along the Esplanade. There's nothing to obstruct your view of the long stretch of sand, as well as the PV Peninsula to the south & all the Malibu coastline across the Bay on a clear day, with the Santa Monica mountains silhouetted in the distance. The area feels wide open, sea & sky. Sunrises & sunsets both can be spectacular here. Riviera Village borders the beach if you get hungry, thirsty or feel the need to shop cuz you forgot your swimsuit/flipflops/sunscreen. It's a lovely place to hang out, overall. Gotta feed parking meters, however, unless you park on Catalina north of the village & walk a block or two - in which case you can stay all day for free. Also can freebie park nearby on the alphabet streets north of the village, between PCH & Esplanade. Or....forget the car entirely, because South Bay bicycle trail takes you to RB beach, which is almost the end of the beach bike path along the sand (at RAT Beach). So Bruce's Beach is not a beach & RAT Beach doesn't have visible rats. And Redondo Beach's beach is off the beaten track & a very nice place to discover & to be. read more

Nothing special here at this beach. The parking can be a nightmare at times even when the beach isn't too crowded. It's just an ordinary beach with an ordinary view, so if you are looking for a beach around Torrence, this one would suffice. read more

This was our pit stop driving from Los Angeles to Orange County since it was on the way. Heard this was the beach known for seafood restaurants and markets so we decided to stop by for lunch. We found a great poke place, 12 min walk from the beach! The ahi tuna tasted great and very fresh. We grabbed our tuna bowls to go and grabbed a spot on the jetty where we got a glimpse of the beach sandy area from afar. I wish we could of had more time to explore more as their seemed to be a lot of pedestrian traffic, restaurants and local shops here! read more

Redondo Beach is a large, beautiful beach. Right off the pier, you can grab some tasty seafood at Quality Seafood. The last time I was at that seafood restaurant was in 2013. But on my most recent visit to the beach, I came in by the King Harbor Marina side so that my husband and I could launch our kayaks and kayak a few Fridays ago with our little girl dog. The water was calm and the beach was clean. On this side of the beach are a few eateries that includes Ruby's Diner and Captain Kidd's. Parking cost $2 per hour but the restaurants here do validate parking. What is interesting about this part of the beach is that there is a playground that resembles a small water park. There are restrooms here but I can't vouch for it's cleanliness since I did not use them. If you are looking for a place to kayak, consider coming to the King Harbor Marina side of this beach for some beautiful scenery and calm waters. read more

Redondo Beach is one of the more underrated beaches in the South Bay, which I shouldn't even be reviewing 'cuz maybe it should be kept that way as a hidden gem location that's never too crowded and has a very good mix of respectful people of all ages and ethnicities. I think there's a "No Knuckleheads" rule 'tho, as they seem pretty fast to squash and get rid of the riff raff, sending 'em back more North to Dockweiler and Venice beaches. They have a lot of life guards, so it's well kept and well protected for a family friendly atmosphere, as well as a nice scene for singles and individuals to go about without being bothered and feeling a sense of security. Fair warning - the public men's bathrooms don't have doors on 'em, they took them off for certain reasons to reduce or eliminate certain deviant or illegal activities. read more

Yay, review #200!!!! So many memories at this beach!!! I remember all the family picnics, building sand castles and swimming. All that deserves 5+ stars. As for the actual location itself, it only gets a 3 from me. The actual beach is pretty gross. The water isn't so clear and I always itch when I get out of the water. There's seaweed washed up everywhere and once it starts rotting, there's so many flies. The sand is pretty dirty too. Cigarette butts, pieces of plastic and other crap litter the beach. As for the people that go there, let's just say it provides for good people watching. The boardwalk is cool. Lots of places to eat and buy souvenirs. There's also a spot for fishing, although I've never seen anyone catch anything. Come during sunset and it makes for an awesome photo op! Just be careful where you walk or when you put your hand on the railing while looking over the pier. You might accidentally come in contact with bird doo-doo. Parking isn't free. There's meters by the park area or you can go in the structure and pay by the hour if you plan to stay longer. There's an arcade further down the boardwalk along with more dining places. Redondo Beach - Beaches Near Me

We love this beach! Every time we are here, we stay at the Redondo Beach Hotel. We came here last week and it was nice because it wasn't too crowded and people were following social distancing and wearing mask. read more

The town is charming. The actual beach, not so much. From the path, it was a pretty view. Once we walked down to the water and up and down the shoreline, it was very sad to see so much litter. There was a lot of trash - mostly wrappers and ziplock or plastic bags. There was also a TON of washed up seaweed and bugs were swarming everywhere. read more
