We have been patrons of the RAA Foreign Film Program for many years. The program selects films that are both entertaining and educational. In addition, a major portion of the proceeds are used to supplement art education in the Redlands Unified Schools. These films are shown through the cooperation of the Harkins Movie Theater in Mountain Grove Shopping Center. They're offered twice per film, once in the evening and once in the afternoon. I have enrolled my kids in the pottery class off and on the last year or so at the Redlands Art Association. They really enjoy the class and I feel the price they charge is very reasonable. You are allowed to drop them off and pick them up at the end if you so desire. read more

My daughter attended Wednesday and Friday classes here for a few months and she had a blast! Two different teachers and two different level of classes and both she really enjoyed. Teachers are always prompt, they also don't allow students to just leave without the teacher seeing the parent picking up. OR the parent is allowed to sit and watch during the class. Whatever you feel comfortable with. They have a variety of classes to choose from. All range in age and skill level. My child and I have recently taken classes at the Redlands Art Association. They have children's classes during the mornings and mid afternoons. My child really enjoys the classes I've enrolled him in. I recently took the ceramics class and love it. They do not have a pottery wheel so they teach you how to mold by hand. Nancy and Penny are such great teachers. This session we made a turkey bowl, wall pockets, decorative plate, a mug, and a tray. You learn glazing techniques during the last class. You can get discounted rates on classes if you are a member. Being a member allows you to sell or display your art at their gallery. It's located in downtown Redlands. Parking can be fairly easy depending on the time of day. They offer a variety of classes for both adults and children, beginners or those who advanced skills.. some of the classes are listed on their window but you can also find them all listed on their website under the calendar. It has been a long time since I had done any arts and crafts so while chatting with a friend, we decided to do the summer clay odyssey course with Penny. Once you pay for the classes, you also pay for supplies on the first day of class. We did mostly hand-built work in this class and did not do anything with the wheel. It was a shame the kiln was not working as expected so had a cancelled class, which made us miss a week of in-person work. We did manage to do a few projects like building a planter, mugs, charcuterie trays, and lots and lots of stamps. As for the instructor, Penny is really open and flexible. If you want to take your work home to finish she is all for that. Also, she has all the materials you need from the tools, clay, and glazes. At the end of class, many of our pieces did get fired and we had the chance to pick them up after the Labor Day holiday weekend. Note: Full-time students (w/ valid school photo ID) can get a discounted yearly membership rate. Also, there are no refunds / pro-ratings of classes if classes are cancelled. read more

MRS. E!! That is all. Our kiddo was enrolled here over the summer, it's been a few weeks since her class came to an end and I haven't heard the end of how wonderful Mrs. E is. Thank you to Mrs. E for making our child's summer better. She really enjoyed being a part of your art class. As a parent only stopping here to bring my child in for a little something to do over the summer, I was taken back by the beauty in all of the the art found here, especially those pieces found in the art room where the children gathered for class. Astonishing works of art decorate the walls. My kiddo brought home some very unique and creative works being a student here. Classes were always punctual to begin and finish. The class instructor, Mrs. E, is really awesome with all the children. She's very soft spoken and has a calming demeanor. She's hands on in her instruction which is essential when working with young children. She kindly converses with her students, compliments and treats them with respect. We very much appreciated all of this. Little people appreciate this as well. So thank you! We will be back next summer. If I could change one thing about the several visits we made to the Redlands Art Association, it would be in the way we were received by the lady who wears a blazer with the short dark hair and glasses that sits up front. She's not very welcoming for being a receptionist or what you first encounter walking into this place. She isn't friendly, no smile, quite rude actually. Never once said hello, or attempted to speak to us. My 5 star review is specifically written for Mrs. E. If I were to rate my experience based on the lady sitting up front, and the way she acknowledges others, (or better yet, her lack of acknowledgement towards others) this would surely be a 1 star rating. There's another lady with light brown shoulder length hair and bangs that is very kind and welcoming. Much better! Nobody wants to leave their house to be treated rudely by another person, especially on a consistent basis. read more

I was looking for a paint party to attend with my sitter in law. Redlands Art Association has ones called Paint It & Take It! We had so much fun and actually learned quite a lot in the process! Plenty of room to paint without being squished together. The teacher Martha is amazing. I can't believe what my painting looked like afterwards. I'm so excited to go to more! read more

I can't comment on the level of art instruction or knowledge other than to say that my 8 year old daughter on her first day was introduced to "abstract art". When children should be introduced to the basics of representational art and its techniques they are told that their "doodles" are art -- where do you suppose this goes from here? The show that was put on May 25-26th was a flop. The organizers decided to cancel the show because they were afraid of the rain. Most artist have been to other states where there is rain and not been advised to "pack up and leave Saturday night, or if you stay, leave early, Sunday morning". The other disappointment with the art show was the library selling used prints and painted work,and art books for $1-4...how in the world could anyone think about buying original pieces from the exposants when they could buy something for nothing from the library. Maybe they closed the event Sunday because they sold all of their books and prints Saturday. One other thing, the organizers did not refund the money for the day "they" cancelled the event. Honestly the best place to buy an original work of art and many other artist made gifts. Almost everything is priced extremely reasonably. The gallery is open 6 days a week which is way more than a lot of other places. They have kids and adult classes everyday but you have to sign up in advance as they fill up quickly. A great place for spring artists to gain confidence. read more

If I could I would leave NO star at all. To sum it up, this place discriminates against art and tries to make artists change their work to fit their boring and uninspired gallery. I do taxidermy art and have had my work shown in prominent galleries such as La Luz de Jesus and Kat Von D's Wonderland in Los Angeles. My work reflects the beauty of death and the creatures we share our time here on earth with. All animals I use are obtained within a strict ethics code. It all started nice where a member actually paid for my membership and the dues to hang work in the space. A few days later I get a call from another member saying that they had to take the work down because taxidermy is "craft" and that they do not show "craft" arts. LIE. Pottery is craft. Jewelry is craft. Knitting is craft - all of these items are shown frequently in the gallery. After calling back to argue my point, I was lied to AGAIN by a different member. This time it was becuase they weren't sure if I was a licensed taxidermist. You don't need a license to taxidermy domestic animals which is what my work predominantly consists of anyways. Nonetheless, I was told I needed to pick up my work. When I stopped in, my work was thrown carelessly into a bag in the corner of the back office. I was already infuriated when a woman approached me and said that my work is "disrespectful" and that I should have had the taxidermy rat "balancing a ball or something cute like that". I couldn't believe that I was having this conversation with an artist!!!! I was disgusted. Art is not about changing someone else's work - it's about trying to learn something from a work that maybe you don't understand. Couldn't believe it. I am very disappointed and feel sorry for the Art Association and their uptight, stale members. Don't show your work here if you support true, undiscriminated art. read more

Nice classes for the kids with awesome instructors . I wish they offer a class for teenagers. My daughter was only 10 and was one of the oldest kids and my 12 year old didn't fit with little kids or adults classes. read more

This place struggles for relevance. I can't really explain what this place really offers outside of giving retirees a venue to show crafts. I want very badly for them to partner with the U of R and improve their programming with a reputable curator who can bring some sort of arts education to our community. Rather than spend money on a public work of art downtown, imagine if a place like this could be a vibrant exhibition space with panel talks, workshops and screenings. read more

ALL GOOD EXPERIENCES HERE! Juried art shows have a beautiful variety in all kinds of media. Featured Artist changes every couple of weeks, so you can see lots of local creativity. Fun classes, even soap-making! The MultiMedia MiniShow with hundreds of works (at wonderful prices) is my favorite. If you need a perfect greeting card, GO HERE and the recipient gets an original art work as their card. Parking is free but it fills up on State Street, so you might have to park around the corner. read more

Great classes for kids, instructors are very nice. Sometimes the classes don't fill and that's because in my opinion they are a bit expensive. I can only afford it a few times a year. If they lowered their prices I would take my child more often. read more

The Featured Artist , Linda Richards' display (May 20-June 3, 2017) made me remember my Dad's photography efforts. Back in the 50s photography for the ordinary person was still developing (oops, pardon the pun). Kudos to Linda for bringing her Dad's photos to life. read more
