WOW! We had peeked into Joe's place before but decided we wanted to take a class- so happy we did! What a great experience and a chance to hand-make an urn. Joe is personable and extremely talented. His studio is so inviting that we found ourselves just chatting with him for a while. Plus, one workshop gets you a few visits to complete your design. I've never bought pottery before until Joey opened up Lake Mud in heart of our town. You literally can not buy anything like this anywhere else, his style and creativity is unique and when Halloween comes around EVERYONE wants a Lake Mud Pumpkin... you HAVE to be there before the doors open or they are gone! Took my son for mama son date day. Loved the 2 hour pottery class. The instructor was patient and kind, my son made 3 pots total within the 2 hour. The 2 hour session, includes 3 sessions, 1 for throwing, then for glazing and finishing the pots. All in all a great experience. I found this gem when looking for a fun day out with my wife. We participated in the 2 day workshop and my wife loved it so much that I bought her a potters wheel for our anniversary. I am very grateful for recieving lessons from Joseph, the owner. His sense of humor and professionalism made us feel very comfortable throughout the lessons. We had to get two of the Lake Mud Tumblers and bamboo toothbrushes. Can't wait until next Spring, when we pick up more skills, during our anniversary. read more

All I can say is that it's better than the description online which sounds beyond perfect. Joey's studio is welcoming, great natural light and he is an a true artist with the gift of teaching. My friends and I signed up for the wine and mud class. It was awesome. We hadn't hung out together in a long time and we were able to chat and snack and drink and learn how to create pottery in a wheel. It was more difficult than I imagined and we all messed up but Joey gave us new clay and we tried again. It was really about just learning something new, not about perfection. We laughed and laughed and Joey was right there laughing with us. Getting to paint a piece (outside ) at the end was perfect closure to a very fun class. The food and wine that were catered in was better than many restaurants on the mountain and the portions were plenty. The girl that brought in the food even brought in to-go boxes in case we had leftovers. No detail was missed when creating this class. This experience was something that I will always remember and cherish. Thank you Joey for bringing something amazing to our mountain. read more
