Great burgers, fantastic fries, good price. Service is usually just transactional, and once was rude (although I had misunderstood that "do you want the special?" meant a sauce on the burger not fries and drink). Decor could use some work - makes me feel like I'm kinda slumming it. Be careful - most red hot places (like Weiner's Circle, Murphys) ask you what you want on it after it is cooked, but RHR expects that you tell them when ordering (like McDonalds). read more

One of my favorite burgers in all of Chicago -- the Red Hot Ranch double cheeseburger, with thin griddled burger patties and a host of toppings all compressed together into a glorious messy delight. Came in at 2AM and as I walked in with my girlfriend and was never greeted, which made a very awkward silence. 2 girls were there that day just kept looking at us and made it even more awkward. I was just about to walk out, but at the given time not much places were open. We had ordered a hot dog and a cheeseburger. Cheeseburger was okay to say at best, while the hot dog bun was hard and stale. The frozen fries we're already pre made and they just dipped it in the fryer for a couple seconds. Fries came out stale. Very stale.. As we were sitting and eating I could tell that they just kept looking over at us. I get it, they were probably just trying to close and not do anything, but they didnt close until 4. If you are going to hire people, at least hire better people. read more

I ordered the double cheeseburger, which three people behind me in line also did. I then paid cash, and saw the cashier take my cash, as well as the people behind me's cash, and then go right back to making the burgers without washing his hands or putting gloves on. Everyone knows how dirty cash is. And then, all three people behind me that ordered after me got their burgers first, even though we all ordered the same thing. Super rude owner/employee. We went to get food at 10:45 because the hours said they opened at 10:30, but we couldn't get in. We had to wait and then the worker was pissed we were there, but we weren't the only ones waiting, another woman was there. He made some snotty comment on how 99% of people don't come when they open...oh well, we're the 1%. I also asked for cheese fries and he said yeah that isn't ready, I asked okay, like how long? I tried this place somewhat randomly, after a recommendation by a neighbor, one very late night four months ago and have been back three more times. It is amazing and cheap! The burgers have a lot of flavor and are juicy and the fries (which I'm typically not a fan of) are hand cut, made to order (extra crispy please) and hit the spot. It's exciting when someone you patronize understands exactly what you want to eat. This place is owned by a gentleman of the Old School who is as well versed in the product he sells as anyone I have ever encountered. For those who are in the know, we are speaking of Vienna Beef natural-casing 10:1 ratio frankfurters. While my grandson was verifying the authenticity of the aforementioned product, an agent of the Vienna Beef Sausage Manufacturing Co. arrived on site to observe a true Chicago Wurst-Meister perform his age-old art before their very eyes. The most amazing part of it all is that one could cut hot dogs from the menu and this place would still stand on either its hamburgers or French-fried potatoes. The hamburger patties might be 8:1 ratio but, even if they are 6:1 ratio, as the owner estimated, they are the BEST in town. We were further impressed by the convenient location, parking, cleanliness, and friendly associates. I want to conclude by simply saying freshly French-fried natural skin-on potatoes. read more
