It's also a very welcoming environment, and you can understand why he's been in business for over 4 decades. Incredibly helpful owner, who makes sure you're finding what you want, and is happy to chat with you as you're poking around. The prices are also very reasonable. He has 800-card boxes for casual collectors... and the hobby/blaster boxes aren't marked up to a crazy price, like I see at some card stores. The owner Alex is great and the environment is very inviting. Whether you are into comics or trading card games Alex has a lot of knowledge and gives great recommendations. I saw him helping a mom with her young son pick out his first ever comic. I could tell that the mom was a little out of her league in a comic bookstore but Alex made sure to help make both the mom and son feel welcomed and invited. He asked great questions to see where their interests were and gave great recommendations for them. Just to see the relief on the mother's face and the excitement in the kids eyes brought me back to how we all got into these hobbies. I hope The Zone is there forever to help more and more people find a home for the hobbies we all love. Thanks for helping me and so many others Alex!

First off, the only reason I recommend this place is for you to have a laugh. Second, I give them 2…read morestars because this place actually has potential. I brought a buddy of mine in here today because I'm pretty sure he thought I was exaggerating about how bad this place is. I've been in here about 3-4 times before and each time was worse than the last. The first time I was in here was almost a year ago. I asked the fella working if he could order a comic book for me. He messed with the computer for a few minutes and then told me it was ordered. For the next few months, I either called or went in and asked about the status of said book. I'm still waiting for that book. This place is an absolute mess. It's dirty and there is no order for anything. Today was the final time I will step foot in this store though. There were a few guys in the back, playing magic or some other card game. The fact that they were playing is not the issue. The fact that they were loud and almost every word out of their mouths was some curse word or the "N" word is the issue. Everyone swears, I get it. But a customer was in there with his young son. I personally would've said something if my child was in there and that was going on. Anyway, a few mins after being there, about 8 or 9 books fell off the over stacked shelf. The customer jokingly said "I didn't do it" and the worker replied "it happens all the time" as he continued standing behind the counter, playing on his phone. Some other customer had to pick the books up. He obviously has no care in the world for this shop and frankly that's sad. My buddy was thumbing through the back issues that he could actually get to and started pulling out books that were ridiculously overpriced. They were damaged and disgusting. One in particular had a coffee ring on its cover. Others had destroyed covers that should've been in the nickle bin. This place needs a complete overhaul and a worker who actually takes pride in their shop.

About 4 months ago I came into Chimera looking for gifts for an actor from this Canadian TV show…read morethat has since gotten a whole new following, Trailer Park Boys. I knew that he was a big Superman fan and I asked for help in getting him some Superman comics he might like, and I chose some that took on new ways of telling the origins of The Man of Steel. The three actors behind the roles they play on Trailer Park Boys, Mike Smith, John Paul Tremblay and Robb Wells also have a website called Swearnet. Each week they have a mailbag segment where they open up gifts from their fans around the world, and my gift was on that segment yesterday (111/01/2016). All three of them loved the gift I sent them (candy, popcorn, things from Buddy Guy's Legend Nightclub), but Robb really loved the Superman comics I gave him (among which were The Death of Superman graphic novel, and Superman: American Alien, I think that was the name of the title, and all first issues), and his reaction, as well as the overall reaction from the three warmed my heart and my day got a million percent better after seeing them open up their gifts. Thank you so much for all your help! I know I will definitely be back for more comics for myself and (maybe) my crush Robb.
