Fine, I'll admit it: I'm in love with Lakeshore Learning…read more I was first tipped off about this place by one of my baby's (okay, so she's two...not exactly a baby but whatever ;) therapists and to say it was love at first sight...that wouldn't come close to cutting it. I'm a mom of four (5, 4, 4, and 2) and my youngest three have developmental delays from mild to severe. While my husband and I have come up with some amazingly engaging/proactive activities for the kids thus far, we're always on the hunt for more, for better, for That One Item/Activity/Etc. We've Been Missing. Lakeshore Learning--much to the chagrin of my Visa card--has yet to disappoint. It's by no means exclusively a store for teachers; it's by no means exclusively a store for special needs parents. Sure, sensory items and activities abound...block play, active play, puzzles, and manipulatives in abundance--but this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you don't want to make the trip (although I don't know why you wouldn't!), hit up the website and request a catalog. It is huge, glossy, and enticing. Also? Lakeshore Learning offers up a pretty sweet check in deal for the mobile Yelping crowd. As *if* you needed more incentive to stop in, right? Riiiiiiight. :)

You get to build a robot w/ a few other couples -- each couple gets one robot -- while watching a robot-related movie. It's a cute idea but the robots cost $15-25 and you're watching an old movie in a brightly lit room where you have to bring your own drinks and food. What is the extra $30 for? Building the robot was fun (although, ours didn't work and ended up having to be repaired & re-repaired which ended up making it worthless b/c it was a bubble robot & all the bubble solution ended up getting spilled before we could even try it out) but we could have just as easily bought a robot kit from the store and then went home to build it, resulting in just as good of a time. Unless they invest in some spotlights for the tables where your building the robots, dim the rest of the lights so that you can actually see the movie, offer complimentary soft drinks, and throw down some real robot knowledge, I wouldn't come back.

The host was pretty nice and he provided us with a cutter and a screwdriver. Then he played a movie while we built the robot. In the middle of the movie he provided free beer and popcorn presented by a walking robot!! At the end of the night there Wes's a robot movie trivia which was fun. The experience was really fun but I think it is a bit expensive for the ticket not including the robot.

Disc Replay in Orland Park has been my choice for used cd's dvd's and video games for years. Same…read morestrip mall, three different locations in said strip mall, same great deals. Whether you are looking for, cd's, dvd's or video games Disc Replay has a varied selection of previously listened to cd's, seen that already dvd's and been played video games. The selection includes, and this is my favorite, retro games, including Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Game Cube, Nintendo Ds, and every variation of, Sega Genesis, Atari, Commodore, and every gaming console known to exist, well at least it seems that way. Where else can you find Sega Game Gear games? Many of these games come with the original box. It's hit or miss to what may be available so if you see something you think you might want, get it when you see it, it might not be there during your next visit. Gaming consoles including the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Entertainment System were spotted on a recent visit. Controllers and other random components may be lurking beneath the glass display case. Remember in high school when you were told you had to purchase a fancy calculator that you then went to the store to purchase and it was like crazy expensive considering its a calculator, yeah, you could find it at Disc Replay but for less. Tablets and notebooks come and go. A variety of cellphones and even ipods could be in stock. Collectibles including band posters and stickers are available too. An assortment of easily displayed records always has treasure hunters looking for that rare vinyl. Relatively new to Disc Replay, is an ever growing selection of guitars and amps. On a recent visit I saw something interesting, it was a VCR, from what I understand the letters v c and r is an acronym for video cassette recorder, my research tells me that a vcr is like a dvr, but without the tapes, a tape is a large looking cassette that went into this vcr thingy, they called this type of tape a vhs tape. Not only can one purchase stuff, but you can sell your cd's, dvd's, video games, newer and vintage, stereo components, guitar, amp, cell phone, calculator, tablet, and whatever else you want to buy sell or trade for cash or store credit. Disc Replay Orland Park is conveniently located on LaGrange road and is always a fun stop to go look at what you didn't know you wanted. The staff are friendly, although new and I don't recognize any of them, maybe there was a change in management? With the previous group of employees, 4 years ago at least it seemed like it was a party, now the party seems like it ended. Speaking of a party the music is too loud, but thats only because the music comes from a speaker that is centralized in the store and not from an overhead speaker, and when you stand in front of the speaker, its a little too loud. I enjoy spending time in Disc Reply, its a store that I hope is around as many times as my vinyl spins.

One of the laziest groups of employees I've encountered works at this Disc Replay location. I…read morecouldn't find a specific item, so I asked a male employee for assistance. Instead of actually checking, he led me to a section that I already knew was incorrect. I went along with it briefly to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it quickly became clear he wasn't interested in helping. Without making any effort to search or verify, he simply said they didn't have the item. He then brought over another employee who immediately backed him up rather than attempting to locate the item or provide any real assistance. This was a stark contrast to my past experiences at the Orland Park location, where employees were helpful, looked items up on their computers, and were able to locate plenty of what I was searching for. Unfortunately, the lack of effort and professionalism at this location has cost them a long-time customer. I will not be returning.

My Son who is a Volleyball player went to the sports section and picked up a Volleyball he slightly tossed it in the air to get a feel for it to make sure it would be a good ball to purchase, the associate on the floor proceeded to yell at him from across the store very loudly and with aggressive "do not play with the balls in the store" I immediately looked over because I knew my son was in that area and the look on his face was so disheartening, he didn't understand what all the aggressive was about and neither did I. I immediately placed all my items back as well advised my husband to do the same and we walked out. Her taking that tone was uncalled for and very unprofessional. We will travel out our neighborhood to go to another five below before we ever shop five below in Tinley park again and I will urge everyone I know that shops there to not patronize this location. Five below in Tinley Park please train your associates on customer service.
