This was quite the unfortunate experience. I was so excited to have a thrift and vintage day and I had a tote bag with me for all of my shopping and farmers market shopping since it's a sunday... I walked in and greeted the staff, and did not get asked to put my bag away. If a store had an issue with it right off the bat, I have no problem with a bag policy. An example is the recycling bookstore, they ask you to put your bags with them and that's completely valid since they preface and have a storewide policy. Not a "customer profiling" policy. I then had an unfortunate experience where the male staff was following me and then later asked me to put my bag in the front. There were white customers in the store with bags similar and smaller sized to mine. I complied respectfully but I did not see anyone else with their bag in the staff storage area. I had my laptop with me as well and the front where they made me put my stuff was unattended and near the front door. I tried to brush it off and shop because I truly did have a mission to purchase a couple of antique items, but I felt so absolutely disgusted and appalled by the staff and their microagression towards me. The funny thing is, either if it was because I was young or brown, you shouldn't assume someone is capable of stealing when they could be your next best customer. First and last time i'm stepping foot into this sad establishment. I'd rather support businesses that respect their customers. Never have I been treated like this in another vintage or thrift shop. Love the warmth of the store as you enter, very welcoming & the staff was super nice! It's the lil touches right down to the adorable notes they put in the bag. Read them both when I got home. Anyone walking by has total access to them, which is a major food safety and tampering hazard. When I walked in with my water (which I medically need on hand for my medication) an employee aggressively bee-lined right toward me to demand I put it on the sketchy cart. When I explained I had a health requirement, she backed off, but the whole encounter was unpleasant. Management really needs to rethink leaving open customer drinks unattended in a public area, and staff should be trained on how to handle guests with medical needs respectfully instead of immediately cornering them. I wanted to purchase some earrings today, but because of the uncomfortable experience, I wanted to get out of there in a hurry. They lost a sale today.

My guess is that we have bought at least 80 separate things from the HCC since 2020. We have countless happy endings. Most recent was a maple dining table with 8 chairs for $349 + delivery. It replaced a smaller table and 6 chairs I bought from IKEA 40 years ago. HCC sold it in 2 days for $399, which paid me $200. So the new set cost me $149 + delivery! We are saddened by their decision to close the Campbell store. If they find a way to stay open - buy the building, find a rational landlord - we will happily return. If not, we wish the crew there the best.

During the call, I was informed that they are no longer accepting consignments because the store is closing. What is frustrating is that no one contacted me to let me know about this change. Had I gone ahead with the pickup and the item didn't sell by June 21, I would have been responsible for picking it up myself. Since the original pickup cost me $100, that's money I would have spent for nothing. This is important information that customers should be proactively notified about, especially when it could affect their decision to consign an item. A simple phone call, email, or text would have prevented a lot of confusion and inconvenience. Very disappointed with the lack of communication.

The line was short and I was all done in less than 5 minutes.
