Since our daughter started here, we have always felt overjoyed with the amount of care, encouragement and support the entire staff has given our family. Our daughter is happy and thriving from her time spent with Ms. Julia, ms. Sue and ms Christine, although every single staff member has been instrumental in guiding our girl. The bonds that he has developed with the teachers and management are not like any other I have ever seen with other children in other facilities. The teachers truly care about the children, even checking up on them when they are out sick. If/when behavioral issues arise, they really partner with the parents so the child has uniform expectations and consequences of action. The facility in the West End is top notch. They are regularly inspected by the State and have not had an infraction since I enrolled my son over a year ago.

The teachers know which kids they can do what to; for instance, they know where the cameras are, and they know the 1-2 year olds won't repeat threats. Management is complicit, and they turn their eyes to the abuse because they are afraid of their family-owned business being under scrutiny. One of the members of management told a one year old girl she needed to lay still so she could get her "pussy" cleaned. Kids are regularly told, "If you were my kid, you wouldn't sit down for a week," things like that. I reported the abuse but they did nothing because I didn't realize how widespread it was; multiple teachers laugh when a teacher is "fed up" and threatens a kid. They all do it. It is terrifying. These kids can't defend themselves, and they can't tell us that it's happening, but it is awful and they need help. ​

When I tell you that he loves it, HE LOVES IT! The teachers and staff made him feel so comfortable and when it was time for him to officially start, the transition was so smooth! He's always excited to go to school and he learned so much! He is now in kindergarten and still goes there for before and after care. I also have my youngest child in the Infant room since March 2021. She is very much loved and cherished at Childtime and is very comfortable with all the teachers. Everyday at drop off, she launches herself at whoever is at the door. All the staff and teachers that we have come across have been very open with their plans and communications. If there are any issues or concerns, we were notified as well as informed of any action plans that needs to be reinforced at home. I really appreciate the open communication with the school. There were some rough patches in the early of the pandemic, but the care and safety of the kids remained their priority. The new management team of the school are doing the best day can to ensure the kids are safe and well taken care of. I can't thank you all the staff and teachers enough for their dedication.

The administration has always been quick to answer our questions and has done such a great job managing during COVID. They even coordinate and organize halloween, holiday and valentines parties with zoom dial in for the parents. I feel like even despite the challenges of COVID regulations they are making every effort for school to feel normal for kids and still provide the best experience for families. I am really impressed by their poise and level of service they continue to provide. The teachers are top notch and provide enriching activities and curriculum for our kids. The tenure is always very good. Most of the teachers are long time Goddard teachers. They are always available for parent teacher conferences very family and child oriented. We always feel our questions are answered with care and concern and feel very lucky to have found a school we trust to enrich our kids lives while we work!

I was torn about returning to work at all, and the only reason I think I made it in the beginning was the amazing teachers in the baby room, Miss Lisa and Miss Cara. You always worry that the teachers won't care about your baby, but I never felt like that with them. They were exceptionally helpful with at home ideas such as feeding solids, bottles, naps, etc and would always go the extra mile to break down my daughters day (how she did, if she didn't seem to feel quite right, etc) They were always smiling, interactive and working with the children on sitting, standing, reading, walking - as much as anyone can in a setting like this. In the next two rooms, 12-15 months and 15 months - 24 months, Ava also had amazing teachers in Miss Sara, Miss Michelle, and Miss Carol. I will be honest and say Ava also had one other teacher I did not care for, but that teacher left shortly after Ava moved to one of the rooms and I really believe 5/6 amazing teachers at any daycare is pretty good odds. Their turnover seems relatively low for a daycare setting (you always have some turn over, but many of the teachers I mentioned have been there for 3+ years, miss Lisa for over 10) They were always willing to work with my schedule as I transitioned from working full time to part time daycare. I really appreciated their motto that once you're family, you're always family and they really worked with us to keep my child at daycare part time. Sure, there were some menial cons (don't serve lunch at the school), 12-15 month old classroom is small, but to me it's much more important that the teachers love my child than small nuisances about any school. I can't speak to the classrooms above 2 years old, but if you're looking for a school for your little one, I highly recommend this Goddard.

Pam, the director, clearly cares deeply about the kids and makes every family feel welcome from day one. The teachers we've worked with have all been excellent: very professional, communicative, and organized, but they still keep things fun and playful for the kids. We came from another daycare in the area and can say with confidence that La Petite is a massive upgrade. In just a few weeks, we've seen marked improvements in our son's behavior and how he interacts with other kids. There is a strong emphasis on the classroom as a community, and it really shows--children seem to learn how to play well together, take turns, and be considerate classmates. The structure and expectations in the classroom feel age-appropriate but still set them up for success. I can very easily see our son being more than ready for kindergarten in a couple of years. They keep the kids busy in the best way -- every day our son is learning something new, with lots of hands-on activities and exploration. The app is also fantastic; we get tons of updates and photos throughout the day so we always feel connected to what he's doing. My only (very minor) gripe is the parking lot -- it's a bit small and can get chaotic during peak drop-off and pickup times. But honestly, that's a small trade-off for the level of care and education our son is getting. Overall, we're extremely happy we made the switch and highly recommend La Petite of Glen Allen to other families.
