Although I don't have any children yet, I'd definitely consider The Goddard School in the future…read morefor care. I had the pleasure of working here for 4 1/2 years and could honestly say that this place is pretty top notch between the curriculum and activities that they provide. This location is in Hanover County right behind SJMS and Sherwood Apartments. The Goddard school provides child care and after school programs. Summer Camp is always fun here and your kids will learn a lot. They cater to the needs of all children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The staff is always friendly and the owners Kathy and Steve DeNunzio will make you feel welcomed along with the wonderful teachers. I love that being an employee here meant being apart of such a great childcare facility and growing along with the school. The first building is for ages 6 weeks to pre-k and the back building (Kabanda) was for kindergarten as well as after school. There are two playgrounds one for the 2's and under and one for the big kids. Yes, it is on the pricey end of things, but quality is always a good thing. Id recommend checking out The Goddard School if you're interested in childcare.

The administration, the staff and the teachers are AMAZING! We drive out of our way every weekday…read morebecause we love it so much. Our kids have now aged out and we are sad to leave. When we came in from another child care program, we were welcomed right away and it immediately felt right. Our youngest went from crying everyday for a month at our previous provider, to smiles walking in the door every morning. Both our children have been given a bright start from the private kindergarten program. We also enjoyed speaking with the staff and we can't say this enough, they will be missed so much.

As I sit here and read reviews of area child care facilities that I have personally visited, it is…read moreclear to me this particular location is not fit for children ages let's say 5-12 as they are not being suitably attended to. What is the child to adult ratio? Kids are running about and not being reprimanded. Yes, I was there long enough to observe such behavior. As to the reviews, I believe everyone is intitled to their opinion! But these issues should've been addressed by management and not taken lightly rather than unjustly dismiss a Child from your care center. Who is in charge? Management or your so called teachers? Thank you Mr. and Mrs. M for your honest views of this facility sorry you had such a poor experience! Thanks for the opportunity to submit my opinion and keep my kids from attending in the future!

Within a few weeks, my son was thriving socially and coming home with a much stronger vocabulary. The teachers have always been amazing and loving to my son. They really put in effort to make sure the environment is focused on teaching, manners and behaved free play. The lesson plans are followed through with just enough time for indoor and outdoor play. This daycare ( I call it school because of its high focus of learning) would be a perfect fit for a parent wanting best for their children, educationally and socially. As much as I want my child to be smart, I also want him to be a well rounded- good person and the learning connection has the same goal in mind for each child. If your looking for a facility and unsure, make an appointment with the leadership at TLC and i am hopeful you will leave with your child enrolled. My son looks forward to going and they do a great job on making learning fun. GREAT staff, awesome meals, perfect place to leave and be comfortable knowing your child is in good hands.

The daycare is disgusting just…read morebeginning there, like a good vacuum and floor stripping would do this place a lot of justice. I enrolled my son here as a last ditch effort because there was no spaces in other centers in the area. Huge mistake. The front staff here seemed friendly but I think it was a facade. The infant room, where my 10 month old was enrolled has a bunch of young girls in there who have NO idea how to take care of children. Dropping our son off my fiancé witnessed one of the staff members sighing loudly and basically saying "what do you want" to a child. A CHILD, who obviously cannot help themselves and is under your care? Really. They fabricated information on my sons daily sheet saying he was fed and changed at certain times and it was all a lie. My son came home with the same diaper he had on when I dropped him off, I know this because it was a special diaper he had on with markings. When that was brought to the front staffs attention they didn't care, one person who is not even the director the "curriculum specialist" was the only person I spoke with. The director, Nikki, didn't even have the common decency to investigate or even call me to let me know what was said to her staff about it. My son would come home extremely dehydrated from them either not feeding him or not giving him his water. I can't believe I have to even write this review and I am completely disgusted with this center as a whole. If you love and care about your child, please do not send them here.. send them somewhere they will be cared for and not neglected. I won't stop advocating for my child until the proper solution is achieved. I have been in contact with The Virginia Department of Social Services with this matter as well.

Great Department of Social Services inspection records, strong, long-term management and many teachers there for the long haul. Healthy, on-site cooked meals. The amount of exercise the children get (especially in summer) is great, with their own pool and on-site PE instruction both indoor and outdoor. Age-appropriate curriciulum and activites, very good team of staff working together, nice facilities and huge, safe playground and many activities. Way to go Heather and team! And, we are paying less than before!

I was so…read moresurprised they actually still had our info and called, that in itself showed me they were very organized. We counted down the months for my sons first day and now a month into it, I can say already I understand the reason for that waitlist. My son is happy going in everyday and when o pick-him up. Everyone in the staff is personable, I get daily updates, and he's proud to show me his daily paper with what he colored. The sheet also tells me what they covered for stories, what the age, and he's even napping again. I can use the information on the sheet to talk to him about his day and I'm just mind blown at how much more responsive he is since he started. I'm so happy we got in! They are fantastic

Although they lack some of the modern amenities that our…read moreprevious preschool had (I really miss getting those Brightwheel updates!), they are handling Covid with grace and my child feels safe and cared for and that is what matters the most. Unfortunately due to Covid, parents still aren't allowed inside. I still got a chance to see the classroom via a virtual tour and meet his teacher on a few occasions and she is incredibly sweet. My son talks about all of his friends every night, loves the playground, and brings home some cute art projects! He has matured so much just in the 3 months that he's been there, and he quickly stopped crying at drop off because he enjoys his school so much. Negatives would be the lack of an app, not being able to go inside yet, and having to write a check to pay. But, where they lack in modern amenities, they more than make up for it in care and tuition. This is the best priced tuition in the west end for an all day program. I am so thankful that we were able to get in off the waiting list after a 2 year wait and that my daughter will be able to attend next year. We plan to keep both children here until they age out. Thankfully, they pick up from our zoned elementary school so we are set in terms of childcare. It was a rough road to get here - the childcare situation in Richmond is absolutely horrible - but we are here and so thankful!
