First visit, I got the New Haven pie with sausage -- which they source directly from a local butcher, and you can taste the difference. We also got to talk with one of the owners for a while. Super personable, and the customer service matches. You can tell it's a long-running family business. I wanted to go back once more before writing this, just to be sure the first time wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. Second visit was the margherita as-is plus a New Haven pie with beef pepperoni. Both exceptional. The sauce is what really sets it off. Growing up in the South, I had no idea what good pizza was until I moved to CT. Leaving that behind was the thing I expected to miss most about Connecticut. The Bianco had a really nice garlic flavor to the crust, almost as if the dough had been brushed with garlic oil before baking, but the overall pizza was still a bit underwhelming. One thing we noticed was that as the pizzas sat on the table and cooled down, the crust became very hard and crunchy, breaking apart as we ate. It definitely affected the overall experience. I'm glad we finally had the chance to give Boom's Pizza a try, but based on our experience, it wasn't a standout for us.
