Would give zero stars if this was an option. Needed a water heater replaced under warranty that was originally installed by Red Bird and called Chris several times in one week without the courtesy of a return call. He finally did call the following week and recommended we contact the manufacturer for verification that it would be covered. We did that on the same day then left several more messages for Chris to complete the job with no response. Needless to say we ended up contacting a more responsive company called Pipeworks. I had 3 faucuts to be installed and a leaky toilet. I callled Redbird Plumbing and they within 24 hours called and was ready to hrlp me out. They arrived 20 minutes early from the scheduled appt. and got right to work. They knew right away was needed for the toilet and had someone drop by a hardware store to get the needed part rather than leave the job. We had a issue with our sink faucet holes not working with one of the new faucets we bought and they worked with us until we got a replacement. So I called this morning. Got a call back before message was left. I told him what we needed. He said easy I can do that. I was happy he then said he can come today at noon. Even better. Had an issue with my outside faucet and couldn't get the handle to stop turning to shut off. Talked to Chris and he had one of his plumbers Bradley out in an hour! I found Bradley to be very friendly and honest. Gave me the option to fix or replace. I decided to replace since the faucet is 20+ years old. It only took about an hour (had to cut out drywall in ceiling to expose the pipe), explained what he did and the warranty, wrote up the bill which was very reasonable for the amount of work required. I had an appointment for Wed, but I got a call mid-afternoon Tues saying that he was available and had the proper equipment on his truck if I was available then instead. He arrived just a few minutes later and worked steadily to solve my problem (a blocked kitchen drain). Along the way, he identified another area that needed to be watched because pipes were corroded but not yet leaking, and I elected to go ahead and have him fix it then. This is THE plumbing company to call if you ever need anything! Why? Because the owner is honest and very upfront. We used them last year for a plumbing issue and were given the quote upfront before they even came to our house. And they resolved the problem very quickly and charged exactly what the quote was. Well, last night we were without hot water so I called them this morning. The owner Chris called me back and talked me through a few preliminary items and we were able to solve the problem without them having to come to our house. I imagine a lot of other plumbers would not have done this, but Chris took the time to help me over the phone even though it cost him a service call. I called Redbird plumbing and they were very helpful over the phone with the problem that I was having. They said that they would send a truck out right away. Working from home, I then cancelled my next couple of meetings to clear some time on my schedule to meet with the plumber. An hour passed, no big deal, but I couldn't cancel my entire day of work to wait for the plumber. So I called back and just asked for an update on when I could be expecting them out to my place. This is where my one star review comes from. Peeved that I called them again to check up on a time after an hour had passed, the guy on the phone told me that he was dropping my ticket and asked me to find a different plumber. "We're not going to deal with someone who's constantly 'up our butts'. Please just call someone else." And that's it. Hangs up and won't come do our plumbing. read more

Redbird is great. We've used them twice. Both times, their work has been spectacular, their employees courteous, and their prices reasonable. Prompt, pleasant, perfect - what more can you ask for? Our water heater started leaking in late December. I first called D&R Plumbing about it. They came out and quoted somewhere just shy of $2200 for replacement, and required payment up front. We scrounged it up, but I started to get a bit shaky on the cost, which was twice as much as I expected. I called Redbird, not knowing if I'd get anyone since it was so late. Chris gave me a call back. I talked with him, and was quoted about half that. Fortunately, I was able to cancel with D&R before they did any work and get a refund of everything but their basic visit fee (which was still a rather absurd $150). The very next day - New Year's Eve, no less - two guys showed up and did the replacement in about an hour and a half or so. Everything is still working great, and we're very happy with the service we received. We'll be calling Redbird first from now on for all our plumbing. We saved over a thousand dollars over D&R, and we're thrilled with the quality of work. read more

I agree with Tammy K. of Normal; Redbird doesn't even deserve 1 star. The first plumber installed a new sump pump and lid. He cut holes 3 inches closer to edge than prior lid As he was leaving, he told me to keep an eye on float switch because he was not happy with how close the float switch was to the wall and may have to come back and run new pipe. I called Chris and he removed a cardboard shim the first plumber used to keep the float switch away from wall; then Chris screwed a J-hook into my new lid instead. After Chris left the float switch kept rubbing against the wall causing the main pump to run constantly or not at all. Third plumber was sent to fix issue; he put a 45 degree angle pipe under the lid to relocate the sump pump allowing float switch clearance. The final price was more than the original quote and nobody informed me of the higher costs prior to completing the work. When I questioned Chris what a "no-hub" is because I was charged for it and I really did not know what it was. Chris texted me back "Is this a joke?" No Chis it is not a joke; it is a customer with a question about a charge. I informed all 3 plumbers that I mitigate radon gas and want a sealed lid. Now I get to caulk all the holes that plumbers left in the lid. I discussed radon gas with each plumber and none of the plumbers at Redbird were concerned with radon gas. I am not happy that they are willing to risk my children's safety for their convenience even after I paid for a new lid. read more

Redbird Plumbing installed the wrong battery on my sump pump battery back-up system. Chris could not identify the problem after multiple tries. After giving me the run-around, I finally called CK Brush. They installed the correct battery. Redbird will not refund my money. I have filed claims with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General. He still refuses to pay. I will be taking this to small claims court. read more
