Ordered from Red Wok through Grub Hub today for the first time. We got two lunch specials which were very generous in the amount of food. The pork in the sweet and sour pork was super tender as was the beef in the broccoli and beef. Both entrees were very tasty which is remarkable because we have been so used to mediocrity lately in the places we have tried. The egg rolls and egg drop soup were added bonuses. Decided to come here because our other Chinese spot was closed. First time being there and you seat yourself which was nice. There was only two other people eating but seems like they have a couple regulars. We got the fried chicken, Coconut shrimp, and Almond chicken. The fried chicken was a 10 piece for $10 and were really meaty and similar to Korean fried chicken if you tried it. Tastes good with the Siracha chili they had. Food is ok. Came with a friend who wanted Chinese food. As of this writing, the place has been open 7 months now and seems to be doing well. Ordered the dinner special on the back and got sweet and sour chicken and the chicken lo mein though for +$2 switched the lo mein to beef. Got white rice with it all. Again, it's ok. Not amazing, and there aren't a lot of good Chinese food options in EP. I asked the cook why he chose to open a Chinese restaurant and he responded that was what he spent a good amount of years in San Antonio cooking. Sure, stick with what you know. read more

The location of the Red Wok in the corner somewhat out of sight has been the kiss of death for many aspiring restauranteurs, so I hope Red Wok can buck the trend. Who ever is cooking in the kitchen knows what he or she is doing! The interior at the Red Wok is stark. I mean NO personality, no ambiance. Nothing. Nada. Costco-style tables and chairs. Not so much as a paper lantern. So, naturally, I was concerned about shortcuts in the kitchen. My party of three was the only party dining in for the duration of our visit, but there was a steady stream of people or Uber Eats drivers picking up food to go. We ordered two bowls of soup, steamed dumplings, orange beef and Hunan shrimp. I'm convinced there is no better Chinese food in El Paso. The orange beef was absolutely the best I've had--anywhere. I saw this place and immediately wanted to try because someone posted a pic of their wonton soup and I was so excited. And it was worth it. So many veggies, the meet and shrimp where cooked amazing! The broth was slurptastic! But I was a little disappointed on the wonton wrapper itself. Tasted a little bland and gummy. But I would still order it. It's my favorite wonton soup yet since moving here. Also ordered the steamed dumplings and their sauce they came with was so good! They put a jalapeño in it and gave it a bit of a kick but in a good way. I would come back for that. I came because it was new and I saw the cheap family meal prices, but was quite disappointed that the food looked better than it tasted. As far as ambience, there is none. The interior is nothing special but I can get over that..it was the extremely bland BBQ fried rice and chicken chow mein that I can't forgive lol. I also ordered spring rolls and they only had cabbage in them.. nothing else. The only positive note was that the general tso's chicken was pretty crispy and actually really good. This is a pretty good spot to order Chinese food from, especially for delivery. I'm not sure if they deliver to other parts of town but I do know they deliver in west El Paso. I believe they also offer dine-in service. There aren't very many good choices in El Chuco for Chinese food. We have bomb Mexican food but Chinese food...eh not so much. It's typically not the same quality compared to other places I've traveled to. I've tried different places in El Paso and this is one of my top choices. I found them on the Yelp app. I remember feeling a bit under the weather the day I ordered from them. Not feeling well meant not cooking so I decided on them. I was the only one at home so even more reason to order! I decided on their spicy beef soup and some egg rolls. Yum! Both tasted very good and made to order. The beef soup had noodles with plenty of beef in it. The beef didn't have much fat on it which was a plus! I have a pretty high tolerance for spicy foods. No lie, this soup made me shed some tears, along with clearing the sinuses. It's pretty spicy and not for those who don't like or tolerate spicy food. I still loved it. The serving was huge! It was easily enough for two to three servings. I had enough leftover for the next day. It tasted just as good. The fried egg rolls were very crunchy and tasty. I ate them all in one sitting! I felt the price was reasonable for the food portions I got. It was under $20 with the tip. The service was also timely. The delivery driver was very friendly. I would definitely order from them again whenever I get a craving for Chinese food. I wouldn't mind getting the beef soup again or broccoli and beef or maybe...sesame chicken. Walked in this restaurant with an overwhelming aroma of bleach. This is never a good sign because eating has an olfactory sense - and that bleach smell up your noise will ruin it. Very simple metal and pressed wood tables arranged in rows on a linoleum floor. So far, not impressed. I ordered hot and sour soup to start, one of my favorites. Most recipes call for chicken stock. This soup had a very different taste - using either beef or pork stock. Edible, bit I would not be returning here for the soup- For my entree, I chose Szechwan chicken with fried rice. The entree comprised of one small chicken breast pounded thins and sliced and diced. The sauce it was in was fairly tasteless, with the heat supplied by red pepper flakes (instead the whole tien tsin pepper most other Chinese and oriental restaurant use). The dish also included about 2 green peppers and 1/2 onion sliced thin! The portion sizes at this restaurant for all the people eating at my table was mostly vegetables, with the bulk of that being green pepper, except for the one person ordering teriyaki chicken with NO vegetables! The accompanying "fried rice" was instant cooking rice, versus long grain or other variety. If you like a plate full of green pepper and onions, and lots of it, cooked in a bland sauce, then this is the restaurant for you! If you really CARE about how your food tastes and would like a pleasant DINING experience, then AVOID this place! read more

I should've written this review a long time ago but this seems even more important with COVID-19 to keep my favorite small-businesses in business. This is our go-to Chinese restaurant, and my fiance and I get take-out from here at least 1-2x weekly! The food is fresh, great portions, and very reasonably priced! The staff is always very courteous. Growing up on East-coast Chinese food I can be very picky, and Red Wok is easily the best Chinese food I've had in El Paso! My personal favorite is their Hunan Chicken, but I've tried many other dishes and all have been great! read more

Just ordered from here for the first time. Very disappointing to say the least. The rice was like the Minute Rice brand and mushy, my Shrimp Moo Goo was very bland, tasteless and the shrimp tasted spoiled so I spit it out, and quit eating it. My husband's General Tso's Chicken was extremely mild and not even slightly spicy like it's supposed to be. Their idea of spicy must be throwing in some whole red peppers at the end of cooking it, hoping it would absorb some of the heat. Our children's Teriyaki Chicken entrees were dry and just okay. I could go on, but I will stop here. Just be forewarned if you order from here. They need to step it up a few notches and cook with some love in their food, not cook and serve disappointing food because they are forced to be there - At least that's what it tasted like to us. read more
