Last week I drove across town to begin shopping for boots. Have been looking online for weeks and lots of resellers carry Red Wing. Of course I needed to try them on. Started with the Iron Ranger and then the Rover, both are a beautiful boot. Before I tried them on I was greeted by Dave and he sized my feet on their digital system. Once we found the correct size, we went for it and tried them on. Ultimately the boot I wanted was not in stock but Dave ordered a set for me. The moment they arrived in the store, Dave called me and I drove down and picked them up. Long and short, Dave is the reason why I purchased at this store. I could have purchased at the hundreds of online retailers but did not. I won't comment on a few other employees in this location but I will say...call before hand, ask for Dave, and you'll be in good hands. Seriously. The last pair of boots I got there lasted seven years. I do railroad work and often walk a few miles in ballist that eats through soles. Happy with the performance of my last pair, which are still serviceable, I decided to get a new pair. I wanted something different, something lighter and I was considering going with a wider size. I went into this location which has provided me with great service in the past. It is were I bought my last pair of Red Wings, and I was given the same great service I received before. Without telling them I was considering a wider side they measured my feet and recommend a wider side. I also told then I wanted something lighter than my last pair and point my to the BRNR XP and I'm liking them, a lot. They were comfortable right off the bat, and needed very little break-in. They aren't as heavy as the Loggers I replaced but they feel durable. The comfort boost is a real plus. Anyways the guys here will get you get up right. read more

one star for having three employees in store during store hours. Im giving it no other stars for the odd customer service and lack of any variety of womens work boots. I just want a wedge with a composite toe, as old school almost as possible, in a woman's 7.5. common. staff asked me what i was looking for, said no, nothing like that for women. Ok. Then did the oldest trick in the book, said let me check in back and disappeared. Small store looked at the maybe 10 kinds of womens shoes on ofter (prob. 75 mens styles) I was done quickly, stoped looking, walked toward the door and waited some more. They reappeared, made no comment or eye contact to let me know they were still looking only to hear him working with the seated employee on a size that I didn't ask for. He spun around and walked into the back again. Nobody said anything. Thats when I realized I don't want to go to a store for "work" boots, like what you do for your money everyday, and have a crummy experience and see that there is barely anything for women anyway. Maybe they do that to any women who have a good idea of what they want? who knows. This is what follows below. I walk into the red wing location in San Bernardino and stand near the counter with my boots in box. A man is sitting down on the bench talking to another man standing up with his hands in his pocket. This is the conversation... . Man with his hands in his pocket: what's up? Me: hey what's up? Man in shirt: well what do you need? Me: excuse me? Man in shirt: yeah what do you need? your standing there with boots in your hand? Me: oh you work here? Man in shirt: yeah that's why I'm asking you what you need? Me: oh I didn't know you work here? Your in at shirt and jeans with your hands in your pocket talking to the man sitting down? Man in shirt /worker : we're not required to wear uniforms? Me: You guys can at least wear name tags or greet a customer properly? Like "hi sir welcome to red wing may I help you"? There's no reason to be rude sir. Man/ worker: well how can I help you ? Me: I just want to exchange these boots for a different style. I don't have my receipt but my name, credit card info and phone number are in your system. Man/ worker: The other worker will look it up right now. Me: ok thank you... I proceed to walk around looking for boots. The man in the shirt begins to talk to the customer again about how "people"come in all the time trying to exchange boots that "fell off a truck " and "we" end up not making any money on the transaction . I immediately get mad and turn to him and tell him a piece of my mind (no cursing). I told him no costumer should have to be treated like that and karma would catch up to him for even saying something like that about another customer to another customer. I walk out with the boots and ignore what he started to say. I'll never buy another red wing again. They're just as rude at the Fontana location. Never again. If your wondering who it is I didn't grab his name but he's a short older man with salt and pepper hair and glasses. Poor customer service. Bought some boots in December 250.00 some insoles 75.00... Three months later my feet are killing I called and asked if it was normal for my insoles to wear out so quick felt like i was walking barefooted.. I was asked to to a drive out to the location I showed up the older gentleman tells me they should not wear out so quick but the owner wasn't there But he recommended i put the original insoles that came with the boots and see if that works WTF! Pretty much he did nothing to help i have bought 20 dl insoles that lasted almost a year They promise you good service but just like any other busonce you walk out they are done with you.... Very disappointed in my visit to Redwing a few months ago. I was out of state for a while, which is why I haven't sent this review until now. But I never forget bad customer service. I purchased an insole at the Redwing in Corona California. I work in a warehouse in San Bernardino so I wanted to make a refund/exchange because I was not happy with my original purchase. You would've thought that there was some kind of scam going on, because the person at the register asked me for my receipt and asked me several questions pertaining to my purchase at Corona as well as asking me who the clerk was! I told him I'm not going to Scam him for $20 and demanded that I get my refund. I had to threaten to go to corporate and he reluctantly decided to give me my refund. After the transaction he had the nerve to say "by the way, this is a franchise..." meaning that he thinks corporate can't touch him. Well I have news for you buddy, I work in a warehouse with close to 200 employees and every time they ask me where I should go to get my boots I send them somewhere else. I told them unless you like being treated badly, I would try another venue. I don't know how that store stays open. Word-of-mouth is the best way to get repeat customer service, and I making sure that these guys don't. I wonder if it is because I am Mexican...? #thingsthatmakeyougohmmm read more

The guys who were working in there were very friendly and attentive to what I was saying about my feet and working conditions. Had the best Red Wing experience, thanks to Jim. I have been to 3 other Red Wing stores and nobody has shown me such great customer service as he did today! He took the time to put the boots on for me, lace them up, have me walk around in them to ensure that they were going to be a perfect fit, etc. I also purchased some insoles and he explained how that specific type of insole affected my foot, and recommended how I should use the insoles for the first 3 days...gradually increasing wear time.
