note, this is regarding the Lakeville location (not on yelp?)…read more I brought my well used and abused bike in to see if it could be brought back to life. While waiting I received a quote, dang... expensive. I really love my old bike and have a new gravel bike I like and had to think. There was no pressure to say yes, they did not even try to upsell me a new bike. Im glad I had them work on it, it rides as smooth and free as ever. I did still have an issue with the front derailleur which was addressed promptly. Overall I had a great experience with the service dept as they went above and beyond any expectations I had. Thank you all!!

I should note the guy that helped me was not the guy from the phone. I stated that the guy I talked to said he may have one in stock, the older guy decided not to investigate further and started pricing me out a new one. He made a trip to the back, basically told one employee to F-off and took a "measurement" of the thread pitch. Came back out and I asked if he looked to see if there was one in the back. He said he didn't look and still needed to measure the length of the shaft. I told him don't worry about it, and that if there is this much leg work in ordering it, I bet it's over priced.

Bikes and beer. What a great concept. I guess that's why helmets were invented…read more After having a couple at the Swinging Bridge, my buddy said that he had a cool place to take me next. NEXT!!! Next? Oh, I forgot that I'm in Wisconsin. There's always a next in Wisconsin. Where I'm from, you usually plant yourself in one location and hope that they find your curled up self in a corner before they close. Such as it is, let's do this. As we made our way to the backside of the Garage, we find ourselves part of a scattered group of revelers who were all imbibing of the product. That product being, of course, beer. The equal of humanity. The handshake of nations. The reason for our visit. And for good reason, the purpose was to indulge, and that we did. My buddy suggested that we get a jump on the season and have an Oktoberfest. I had to remind him that it being the waning days of September, we were already in the midst. Oktoberfest was well under way. "Semantics, he said, let's just get a damn beer!" Good idea, John, good idea. We both chose an Oktoberfest. Ice cold it arrived to the bar mat, and ice cold it went down. The day was unusually warm for this time of year, so the cold beverage was a treat as we lounged in the Adirondack chairs under the tarp. This was the life. Not a care in the world. Relaxing and watching as the world passed by. Which included a string of pearls who were on parade. Each flaunting their late summer attire. An unexpected pleasure? Or is this the norm for The Garage Bikes and Brew. I'd say that it's worth a repeat visit. Wouldn't you? Quick Tip: There's a stage under the big top. Music can be had if you time it right. Seems our timing is never right. Such was the case on this occasion. The band was packing up when we settled in. We didn't pack it in though. We stayed and enjoyed the beer, and the scenery.

I had a very disappointing experience with Erik's Bike Shop…read more We purchased a brand-new pair of skis and bindings from the Rochester store. Their technicians also professionally mounted and tested the bindings when we purchased new ski boots. Despite this professional setup, the binding unexpectedly released while my son was skiing, causing him to fall. After only two ski trips, the skis were also already visibly chipped. When we brought the equipment back to the store, they refused to issue a refund. The only option they offered was a replacement from the same manufacturer, even though we had already lost confidence in the product's safety and quality. What was even more disappointing was the customer service. Both the Rochester store manager and corporate customer service were dismissive of our concerns. Instead of addressing the safety issue, they insisted the remedy would not be a refund and suggested the problem could be "as simple as a screw coming loose." They even tried to blame the situation by saying my son weighs more now than when the bindings were set, even though the bindings had been professionally adjusted and tested by their own technicians just the month before. For a shop that markets itself as a professional ski service provider, this response showed very little accountability when something goes wrong. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend buying skis or having bindings serviced here. For reference, Better Business Bureau currently lists the company with a D rating and multiple unanswered complaints.

The water was fairly shallow and easy to navigate. It took us maybe 2.5 hours for our kayak trip with beautiful scenery. We saw deer, 2 fawns with spots and a doe. We saw two bald eagles and 1 golden eagle, blue herons, turtles, kingfisher, turkey vulture etc. The parking is free; there is a bathroom where you put in. You need to sign waivers before going. This area is beautiful and we saw many Bald Eagles as we strolled down the Cannon River. I don't think this was too expensive and it was a lot of fun. We had not been kayaking before and my wife was clueless. I had used canoes when I was a kid and had been up to the Boundary Waters, I felt okay. We told the people that it was our first time and without much of any instruction, they put her in the kayak and away she went. I felt like they could have done anything to make her more comfortable. The rental area is a shack, basically. They put you in kayaks and then pick you up in an hour from departure at the pick up point. Look for the large pink rock, that is where you exit the river to be picked up. We had the last time slot with several people overturning and having to empty their kayak, not me, I stayed dry. The people that had to drain their kayak wasted a lot of time and we were late to our pick-up at the end of the day when you know they wanted to go home and start their weekend. I felt bad but it wasn't my fault. This was a fun time. I would recommend that you have some experienced people to help you if you are new at this. The people running this place are not interested in spending time teaching you how to stay dry. That is up to you.
