My sister really wanted Thai food so we looked through Yelp and found this location. From the outside, the place looks empty; however, there's a large dining room hidden from people casually strolling. We waited a bit before being seated and weren't attended to quickly. We tried their Hophouse beer and thought it was very mild. After the food was brought out, it complemented our meal selection without competing with the delicious flavors. We ordered the Chicken Massaman, Garlic Beef, chicken cashew stirred fried rice. The food came out fairly quickly and piping hot! We truly enjoyed the restaurant, the food, and beverages. If the service would have been friendlier it would have made the difference between the four and five star. A great place to sit with friends and eat a hearty and filling meal. read more

Walked in ambiance was nice, and the hostess was pleasant. We sat downstairs and were told that minimum order quantity of two starters or one entrée was required so we were not allowed to order less than that and we left. What a disappointment. We would have ordered 2 drinks each I'm sure but it was not meant to be! We took our party of 6 to YKI YO and we're pleasantly surprised with the out come . 250 dollar loss for this place . During my trip to Dublin I received this as a yelp recommendation and they did not disappoint! This was some great authentic delicious Thai food! The inside was very clean and upscale, but not to the point that you have to dress up. I ordered the Thai wings and green curry and literally drooled at the aroma and how good it was! I definitely recommend this place if you are in Dublin and tired of the overpriced bar food like burgers and wings and want some flavor on your tongue. This place was pricey but I feel like everywhere I went in Dublin was pricey, at least here you are actually getting a meal with actual ingredients lol. read more

This is by far my favourite thai place in town. Not only is the food absolutely devine, they have a decemt early bird special and the extremely good service. I had made a reservation to have my birthday dinner here, after having tried several of their dishes over the last couple of months. I was sure that everyone in my party would find something they like on their extensive menu. To kick off the evening, we were greeted with complimentary bellinis- what more could a girl ask for? Amazing food and customer service is TOP NOTCH!! For those of you who are looking for it all... great food, awesome customer service, and a nice ambiance this is a must do! We were a walk-in at 7:30pm and we're immediately seated in the front area (wouldn't expect otherwise as this is a top rated Thai restaurant during peak hour- in fact we expected a wait and fairly long). We all being Thai food fans, I can honestly say perhaps one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to (and I travel quite a bit internationally as well as domestically). But what was over the top is the customer service. We ordered 3 dishes: filet sea bass in soy sauce, garlic beef, and the pad khee mao. All three were delicious, however we asked for slightly above medium in spiciness) and it was so much for us to handle. BTW- we are all korean and love our spicy foods but I would recommend that you go milder than what you would normally order and you can always get the spicy pepper on the side. The head host, Kruno came over and asked immediately how our food was, and we were honest and said it was delicious but too spicy for us to even be able to eat. We didn't expect them to change this for us as we got what we ordered, however, our happiness was a priority for management. Kruno called over Hasayan who came over and gladly accommodated us by offering to cook us the same 3 dishes at milder spicy level. We felt bad to waste the food but she made us so comfortable (as well as Kruno) and wanted us to be happy. This really made the difference for us. Red Torch Ginger takes Thai food to a whole new level! We were walking around and saw that this place was packed and decided to try it out. Prices are on the expensive side for a Thai restaurant but it was totally worth it!! Most main courses are €20 a €25 depending on what you order. Location: Great location, right in the middle of town. Very close to Trinity College. On a sweet cobblestone street. Food: fantastic food, great flavors. I got the Thai Crispy Duck with Tamarind sauce which was phenomenal!! I enjoyed all the flavors and the duck was cooked perfectly with Crispy skin and tender meat. It is for sure one of my favorite duck dishes ever!! That is saying a lot! My friends got the Singapore noodles which had curry flavor and thin noodles but was delish. The Pad Thai was great too!! Service : Friendly staff, great ambience and quick service. Although the place was packed, the service was quick. We (wife & I) split the "Express Lunch". Red curry with chicken and the combo starter. The combo starter was a real surprise. Very tasty, each one and the peanut sauce and sweet-hot sauce were a perfect start for a meal that was only going to get better. The red curry (with chicken) was a perfect mix of an outstanding curry and heat. Just enough heat to wake me up to the flavors, but not too hot to drown out the outstanding curry flavors. It's a brilliant way to manipulate Yelp readers psychologically, but I feel that a much better approach is to accept the critique and say "We hear you. We will take this negative feedback into consideration and try to improve." Instead, this owner decided to think up a defensive attack on every single negative comment I wrote. If you can't take criticism, you shouldn't be running a business. I am very well versed in Thai cuisine and 6 thai restaurants in Dublin City is far from "sizeable" when I can easily count hundreds in the city I come from. I do not write biased reviews and only state my true opinions and have never had a restaurant owner attack my feedback on Yelp. Extremely uncalled for.* For someone who's grown up in and eaten through the San Gabriel Valley east of Los Angeles, which is densely populated with Thai restaurants, Red Torch Ginger was a bit of a disappointment. I expected thai food that was at least up to par with the average standard of thai food from back home, but was disappointed by the mediocrity of the food here as well as the high price tags. My friend and I ordered the aromatic duck pancakes, pad thai, and panang curry. The duck pancake was good. I wouldn't say it's a thai dish as it's more of a chinese dish but the sauces were on point and it was good. The price tag on there is €19, which I think is way too much for a measly portion of appetizer. The pad thai was just average-- more bland than I am used to and came in a small portion. The panang curry again came in a sad portion and did not taste as flavourful as thai curries should taste. It was way too milky and didn't have that vibrant orange color nor the vibrant flavor of spices/spiciness that panang curry has. Overall, it seems as if asian restaurants in Dublin including this one play off the sparseness of asian cuisine in the city to tack on high price tags to their dishes. At Red Torch, it's highly unreasonable due to the lack of depth in flavor and small portion size associated with their menu options. I had amazing thai food in Amsterdam and would recommend the thai food there over Dublin's any day. This restaurant was definitely a disappointment for me and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Came here for my birthday dinner. V good food, nice wine and the service is very pleasant just the food was a little slow coming out. Think it was busy due to all of the gigs that were on last night but everything was clearly prepared to order and everything I had was delicious!! I was sure I'd already reviewed Red Torch Ginger. I'm surprised I haven't, as it's one of my fave places to dine in the city. The food is always top dollar, the service is brilliant, and the drinks - well - more specifically the cocktails - are up there with the best in town. So, on those points: - The Food. Above all, I'd recommend the braised pork belly, or the steamed sea bass Red Torch Ginger special. It's soooooo good. And you don't feel too full or bloated afterwards. Yum. - The Service. Welcoming as soon as you come in the door, and always smiling, obliging and efficient. Perfect combo - The Cocktails. The star of the show. They are all unfailingly excellent. And excellent value as well, nearly all under the ten euro mark which is unusual for the centre of town! If you fancy desert but also want another drink, have a whirl of their Black Forest Gateaux cocktail. It's like drinking cake. Amazing. *Pro tip is to check out their lunch special. Just finishing my early-bird fixed-price amazing-value incredible-delicious meal at Red Torch! Usually taking my own path, tonight was a night of suggestions. Thanks to local Yelp reviewer Erika, I went with the five spice calamari - fantastic, as promised. I was actually talked into the mild lamb curry (HUGE portion) by the waitress - so happy she made that suggestion! Had one glass of very good (and reasonably priced) French chardonnay, and finishing off now with my coffee. Ordered for delivery twice, haven't been into the actual restaurant yet but really do love the food. The main thing is portions are small for the high price you pay (at least for delivery). They don't even fill up the container, especially for the rice (I mean come on). If you put the portion of the main or the rice into a normal delivery carton, it would probably only come up to 3/4 and you're paying a lot more than other places. They don't even do free prawn chips, but of course we order them anyway because they're delicious. These in particular are more spicy than other places but very fresh and crispy! Particularly loved the Massaman curry which was delicious, as was the Sweet Chilli Chicken, which is something I've had at several other places and definitely prefer it from Red Torch Ginger. The Cashew Chicken was also great, but doesn't top other places I've had it. Definitely didn't like the spring rolls, they have a weird taste, maybe that's just me. I've had much better, much cheaper. The Samosas with the honey yogurt dip were tasty, but never very good for delivery because they're soggy by the time you get them. Pretty expensive, especially for delivery, would go in for a sit-down meal next time. read more

This is a great little restaurant on the outskirts of Temple Bar. It seems to get pretty busy even in late afternoon so probably best to book ahead. The decor is Thai influenced with lots of orchids and buddha ornaments located throughout. They have a great range of cocktails, wine and authentic thai beers. The food menu is also Thai with some other Asian choices. For starters I picked the panko prawns and as a main I had Massaman curry. Both were delicious. The curry had just the right amount of spice and was really fresh and aromatic. It was topped with beansprouts which added a nice crunchy texture to the dish, it really brought me back to when I visited Thailand. Prices were very cheap and staff were pleasant. I'd definitely visit again. The only downfall would be how close together the tables were, I felt like we were nearly sitting on top of the couple at the next table. read more

A fantastic first impression of Red Torch Ginger. I had missed out on a Yelp event here, but all the feedback from that was five stars, so the place stuck resolutely in my head. On this occasion we were invited to a birthday celebration and to be honest the only reason RTG was booked was because they could cater for one vegan in our party of ten. I'm so glad they could, because the dining experience here was excellent. First mention is the wine deal they have on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. With the exception of the sparkling wine, all wine is half price. HALF PRICE! We had a lovely Alisia Pinot Grigio for 14 EUR instead of the usual 28 EUR. For a starter I opted for the Five Spice Pork belly, which was really REALLY good. Yes this review does require some all caps, that's how impressed I am with RTG. The main let me down a little because I'm sure the menu said it was crispy chilli chicken, but it wasn't crispy. That said it still tasted excellent and the veg crunchy. It's only been one visit, so I am hoping it was a one off. The staff here are excellent. Pleasant and on the ball, without being too in your face. The host was really nice as he welcomed us and showed us to our table. Finally, the decor is impressive and the layout done well. There are plenty of tables, but they are not on top of each other. The facilities clean too. We are definitely going to be back to Red Torch Ginger. Five stars. read more

One of the best thai places i've been to in Dublin. The food is seriously delicious.. We were a group of 6 and just ordered a selection of 5 mains and duck pancakes (my favorite starter ever) to share amongst us.. As everything is served in little bowls it is perfect for sharing and being able to taste everything. I also had a cocktail (passion fruit sling or smth like that) which was AMAZING And they do really nice desserts. I feel like the place is a bit "europeanized" - which is not a bad thing to me. Sometimes thai places can be intimidating if you feel like you are entering a different world .. And service can be (culturally) more distant - but not in this place! Everyone is very smiley and friendly. I am not saying that the food is not authentic - Just the overall atmosphere I guess. I recommend to go and see it yourself :) read more

My husband and I walked in before a concert on a Tuesday night and were able to be seated right away; the hostess did mention that our table would need to be vacated within two hours, but we knew we'd be done well within that timeframe. As we were in around 5:30 pm we were only given the early evening menu option, which admittedly is a better value than just ordering from the regular menu - I will say that I wasn't interested in having two course option, but the cost and the value of the added tea helped to make this decision for us. I ordered the Apertif Spritzer which unfortunately was just ok, I only drank half although half was a lot. My husband ordered his first beer and really enjoyed it. Reasons for the three star review: I think that the food was good, but not great. I was disappointed that the fish options were an added cost as I tend to order fish more than other meat options. While I enjoyed my meal, I would not order it again for the cost, although the chili lime sauce that came with my fish was very good! My husband ordered a second beer about halfway through, but it was never brought to him and I didn't see our server again until we asked for the bill ... we also had to ask for the tea that was included, which was a bit of a frustration as it was advertised as being included. Lastly, it was very hot in the restaurant which made us a little uncomfortable. All in all, this is a good restaurant, however I didn't feel that the food or service merited more than three stars for now. read more

Red Torch Ginger is really good Thai food in the heart of Dublin! The chicken satay is honestly one of the best I've had in Dublin and the portion is really generous! I've tried a few of the main courses, mainly the stir-fries and curries, and everything I've tried has been delicious! The ingredients are really fresh, they don't use any MSG in their food and they have loads of coeliac-friendly options! The added bonus for me here though is the amazing cocktails and extensive drinks menu! I had the Louisiana Jam and my friend had the Pornstar and they were both to die for! We had two courses with two drinks each and it came to €90 but the The Early Bird is really good value, it's on until 7 during the week and 6.30 on Friday and it's great value at €19.95 for two courses with tea/coffee so I would recommend trying to make that! read more

Sweet chili chicken was very good but not very spicy. Tom kha soup was really good-soup didn't have any chili oil or hot spice but it was delicious. We were encouraged to order two bowls because they were individual servings but neither of us finished the soup-the bowls were large. Singapore noodles were excellent as well. The noodles had some spice and we ordered them with shrimp. We got a lot of nice shrimp. We had Singha beer which is standard when we go for Thai food. We didn't know what to expect when walking in but we were more than amazed when we walked out. Igor the green curry with chicken and my boyfriend got the green curry with shrimp. It's spicy! I needed extra rice since my pallet couldn't handle it as well as Chris. The staff was amazing!!! So helpful with suggestions and didn't rush us even though they were closing by the time we asked to box up our left overs ( not a chance I'm leaving that behind!) We started with the suggested red torch combo. (We would go back just for the panko crusted prawns and that dipping sauce). The Chang beer was an amazing suggestion that is similar to a Heineken. I'd heard great things about this Thai place, and happy to say, we were very satisfied with our experience here! First off, I have to commend the service. It is impeccable, and was much needed after a few not-so-great experiences in Europe (as compared to service standards in the States). The decor is also elegant and welcoming. There are tons of vegetarian options; the menu itself is quite extensive, including some treats from other SE Asian countries as well as the usual Thai delicacies. The food itself was delicious - spiced well while not killing your taste buds, flavorful, and balanced. The noodle dishes were cooked and coated well. Save room for dessert! Having recently been here for a Yelp Elite event within the past week, I hadn't expected to darken their door again so soon, but when deciding on a bite to eat with a girlfriend I figured if it was half as good on a random Thursday as it was at hosting an event we were in for a treat. We were not disappointed! Just €20 for 2 courses with a coffee, why thank you very much, I will! I had a fantastic tofu with sweet basil and chili main, which was delicious. Tofu is often done badly, very badly, but here they get it just right, firm enough to have a bite to it, and not left to absorb liquid thereby turning it to the jellylike mess we all know from less careful establishments. My friend had a fish dish which was devoured and thoroughly enjoyed, and we also got starters, por pia thod and dumplings. Mine was as good as I remember and my companions was also apparently excellent, but I had expected nothing less. Service is also far above average, with attentive and pleasant staff, something lacking in many of the establishments on the hipster mile... Oh, and for those who are sticking to resolutions - calorie count on the menu anyone???? read more

Hands down the best food I ate in Dublin! It was a major struggle to find delicious food in Dublin so I turned to yelp to find this gem. I got there just before their dinner rush and they were able to squeeze me in. From beginning to end I enjoyed every flavorful morsel. Service was amazing, attentive and punctual. I ordered a cocktail then their dinner special with the 3 items for one price including tea. Loved it here! Came in a large group & they managed to fit us in despite already having two large groups in and even despite this, service was friendly with just the right amount of attention given to us. The food is awesome. If you are gluten free (coeliac/celiac) then this is a great place to eat as the menu is marked with suitable dishes. I thought the prices were also reasonable for Dublin with mains around the €14-€19 depending on what you ordered. My pad thai was lovely. I chose chicken so I think this was around €16 and a decent sized portion. Perfectly seasoned, peanuts on the side and vegetables cut into shapes (rose carrot anyone?). Decent wine list - lovely zesty sauv blanc went well with the pad thai. One of our gang ordered a chablis. I was expecting a €40-€50 charge but only came to €28 for what was a beautiful bottle of wine. Desserts - €6.75 so in line with what is being charged elsewhere. My red torch gf cake was basically the snickers almondy cake so ok but not wow. The wow came with my friend's pavlova which was amazing - a huge slab with cream and fresh fruit & perfectly cooked meringue. So even though I don't live in Dublin, I do visit every couple of years so this will be on my return to list... read more

Everything about this place was a 5 star for me, from the moment I booked, extremely late I might add at 8pm on a Saturday for a meal at 9.30, and spoke to the extremely friendly Gary (I think?) who then greeted us at the door when we arrived. The staff were everywhere at once and none of us were ever struggling to get their attention, which is great for a celebration dinner! I had the dim sum starter which was serverd in the bamboo steam basket and was gorgeous, followed by the pad thai and finishing with the ice cream and I can honestly say that I enjoyed every bite! The overall cost was very reasonable considering the volume of food and drink we had and apart from one snaphoo I was brought chicken instead of beef pad thai and even then the staff were very gracious and apologetic for the error and Iw as not long waiting for a replacement. I definitely see this place having the potential to get five stars from me but because I was just here the once, at a Yelp Elite Event, I wanted to play it somewhat cool. However, I've already planned my return trip, so impressed was I by the food, service and, indeed, the cocktails... I'm not even that into cocktails. Let's just get straight to the important stuff - the food. The Dim Sum we were given as part of our starters was the nicest I've had in Dublin so far. The dumplings were very fresh, very flavoursome and there were some concoctions in there I've never seen before. The accompanying soy sauce dip was especially tasty. For main courses, we were given generous sample plates of the following: Thai green curry, crispy duck with tamarind sauce, sliced fillet beef in oyster sauce, prawns in thickened coconut sauce, and fried battered cod on mango salad. ALL of these dishes were yummy but I was particularly taken by the fish dishes. The prawns were incredibly tender and the sauce was exceptionally fragrant. The cod was perfectly flaky and the mango salad was refreshing, not overly sweet. Yet I must give special mention to the Thai green curry for the simple fact that I normally have no interest in this dish anywhere else. It seems, in comparison to other options, a bit too standard; but the curry here was very good with just the right amount of heat to make it interesting. Gary and Damien, the owners and our hosts, were very friendly and accommodating, chatting with many of us individually as we left; and the staff were all very efficient and cheerful. As others have said, this is the new place to go to in Dublin. Didn't try the cocktails as other reviewers have suggested, but would definitely head back to try them out! The interior is very well decorated. It's modern and classy with a touch of Thai decoration. Service was a little slow for Saturday at lunch (at roughly 2pm). However, the staff were very friendly. As for the food, the pad thai was well cooked and they catered the spiciness to my liking. Lots of bean sprouts which is awesome. Spring rolls were average, along with the chicken satay and pork. Prices are average for Dublin so nothing breaking the bank, although is still expensive for a relatively cheap dish. If I had to order food, I wouldn't necessarily go with Red Torch because it doesn't stand out from the rest of the crowd. However, it is definitely the place to go for a dine-in experience. read more

I've been here a few times; once for a yelp event and once for dinner on a girls night. On the girls night, it was a Saturday evening, around 7:30 pm. We hadn't made a reservation anywhere, and everywhere was packed. I had remembered being here once before a thought, "Ah! Let's give Red Torch Ginger a shot!" Despite the place being quite busy, they happily sat us quickly at a table near the bar. We ordered the wine, and it quickly arrived - although I'm sure our table placement helped :). I ordered the chili and basil stir-fry, and can I just say it was AMAZING. It was flavourful and spicy. I love spicy food and sometimes find in restaurants in Dublin (despite saying they're spicy) don't have much heat to them. Also, the portion was so large that in all honesty, I probably could have split it with someone. But as you do, I ate it all up because it was so tasty. They also have an amazing cocktail menu. Their bartenders are very knowledgeable and well trained. So if there's something you want, they'll know how to make it, AND make it properly. As for the price, it's a bit more than I'd prefer to pay for an average night out. I'd probably save this restaurant for a nice night out like a date or girls night and pick a cheaper restaurant for take-away thai food. read more

This place is incredible. Best service I've had in Dublin so far. The food is great as well. The massaman curry is perfectly creamy and peanuty with just a hint of spice. Sufficiently sauced and spiced, flavourful, and the chicken was not at all dry. The spring rolls were also excellent, but the chicken satay was a bit over grilled (through the accompanying peanut sauce was quite delicious). Thai food was a new venture for me. I wasn't sure if I'd either love it or hate it, but as it turns out, it's pretty yum! This was my first ever Yelp Elite event (Sorry for the late review!), so I was understandably anxious. New food, new people, new place. The staff here are very welcoming, really made us all feel at home. We were welcomed with a cocktail each, but as I don't drink, I was very kindly mixed up a non alcoholic drink that was lovely! I really was grateful to them for going out of their way for me. When we sat down, we were given a great lesson on how their cocktails were made. I was also allowed a second non-alcoholic cocktail that had elder flower in it. I was in heaven! After a lovely back story on how Red Torch Ginger came about, we were treated to a banquet of deliciousness. Every single thing I tried was fantastic, but surprisingly enough I think I enjoyed the dim sum the most, followed by some fantastic green curry and some even better prawns. I liked it a whole lot more than I thought I would. Definitely will be back for more, I enjoyed this a heck of a lot. The owners Damien and Gary have a real winner here. read more

We walked in and the place was deserted. We thought, "ohhh no, what have we done?" until we were led into the next room, which was packed and lively - phew! The food was quite good, and the decor was elegantly asian-esque, but the most important part - they serve kriek. And it goes really well with Thai food actually. Worth a stop if you're in the mood for Thai! Or kriek. Especially if you're in the mood for both. read more
