I set up a ride to the humane society a week ago . It was confirmed and I was told who my driver was . After 2 days trying to contact him and confirm the reservation . First time he answered he said he was busy off work and his car was in the shop call back tommrow . When I did he canceled the reservation said he couldn't do it then to call red tire to reschedule it . Granterld this was at 2:50 pm the day before I have to be there at 1:30 the next day . I was visiting IU for a long weekend. The campus is impossible to park on as a visitor in the middle of the day so I used Red Tire Taxi quite a few times. From the Quality Inn to campus it was $10- $12 including tip, which is super reasonable. If I called in advance, they always showed up at least five minutes early. I never waited more than twenty minutes for a cab if I didn't call in advance. All of the drivers were chill and professional. The owner drove me to campus at 6 AM one morning, and the roads were terrible. He got me to campus with no problems, and he was really friendly. They use speaker phone while driving, and some of the people calling were just rude. These guys are cool. So I would suspect any bad reviews were people who tried to call too last minute. Only complaint: One car stunk like smoke. Not cool. read more

I am SO. SO. happy that there is another taxi service in Bloomington. SO HAPPY. I found out about them from their website and was impressed that they actually had their fare clearly posted there so I could figure out how much I would be paying. They answered the phone promptly. Took a little while to get to me, but they warned me that that might be the case, and called me back to follow up before they arrived. Fare was reasonable, cab was clean and the driver pleasant. Shadiest company ever! They will purposely go the long way to your destination so you get charged more. They lie to your face about the price of your ride, I was overcharged after double checking their rates on their website. Would give 0 stars if possible. I made a reservation with Red Tire Taxi the night before my trip to the airport. All I needed was a short ride (a little over 1 mile) from my house to where the airport shuttle would pick me up. The reservation was made without problem, and I received a confirmation text from my driver. The next morning, I was starting to get worried, as the shuttle pickup time was getting close, and the driver was about 10 minutes late at this point, so I called the company. They had no record of my reservation, despite the fact that I had received a confirmation text. The guy who answered the phone said he would check in with the driver and then let me know right away what was happening. 5 minutes later, still nothing, so I called back. He had said that he'd texted his driver, and hadn't heard anything. I asked if he could send another driver, so that I could make my shuttle on time. He said, there's no way one could get there in time, but I that I should just wait for the original driver. I said I'll just run the mile to the airport shuttle instead. Unfortunately, I missed it by a few minutes. Luckily, the folks at the Marriott were kind enough to let me know that I could still make the shuttle's final pickup point on the north side of town, and called over a Yellow Cab, which arrived quickly, and offered friendly and fast service. In short, I'd absolutely recommend avoiding these guys and using Uber or Yellow Cab or one of the other taxi companies. They are not reliable, and the guy on the phone cared very little about the situation I was in as a result of their company's failure to do their jobs well. read more

First of all you dispatcher is rude and lies patiently waiting on hold because I wanted to make a reservation the dispatcher tells their all booked just call the regular line a driver is available lie. I use to love red tire taxi, but not now. The service use to be very good but here lately I have been extremely disappointed with their service. I have tried to call them several times in the morning and couldn't get a response. Also called them once and told me I have to wait over 40 minutes before anyone would help me. Finally after being told that they were too tired to pick me up and take me to my destination, that is when I said enough. Will never use them again. read more

Our first try with taking a cab in Btown. Our driver Adam was great!! He called when he arrived to pick us at home and when we needed to be picked up after dinner downtown texted him. He promptly relied he would pick us up front of restaurant in 10 min. He called as he pulled up. Could not have been easier. Great guy. Polite and willing to please. I've used this service a few times. The first two times were fine. The third time the driver spent the entire ride cramming creationism and conspiracy theory down my throat even when I was clearly uncomfortable. I am a research scientist and while I respect a diversity of opinions, being lectured about how science is "impure" seemed incredibly inappropriate. I told him that he should be respectful of other people's belief systems and that his bizarro monologue had made me extremely uncomfortable and he told me that I was rude. Took a ride from Bloomington to Indianapolis Airport. Due to an early morning flight, didn't have too many options, decided to try out red tire. The ride was on time and very reasonably priced. The driver was pleasant and welcoming. Highly recommend their services. read more

DISCLAIMER: Review of service on New Year's Eve so adjust for increased demand and/or weather conditions as you see fit. I called red tire taxi to arrange for a cab for 4 adults (late 20s) for dinner on New Year's Eve. This was around 6:30 PM so it was not at peak time for the holiday ( after midnight). I was quoted a wait of 25 minutes, called after 40 minutes, and call went to a personmal voicemail. Gave up after that point.. Received no return call. Service was nonexistent. I don't mind waiting, just quote me a more reasonable wait or say "it's going to be a while". I'm not expecting a lot out of a Bloomington taxi service but this is inexusable. read more

Only car service that operates into the night. Don't call expecting quick service but they will get to you within the hour. Prices where average and cars where somewhat clean atleast. Only odd part is some drivers drive with their boyfriend infront and say it's for training purposes. read more

Called the taxi for an elderly lady. First of all they said it would only take 5 minutes and ended up taking 30. Ross (the driver) finally shows up and won't get out of the car to get her luggage or open up the door. Tried getting a cab from my hotel to a local bar to meet up with my cousin for his bachelor party. The guy I spoke to on the phone point blank told me that he wouldn't help me if I "wasn't in the Bloomfield area" and hung up on me. Went to the front desk and received a card for a taxi service from the hotel manager and it went straight back to the guy I had called earlier. The driver called me an idiot for not knowing where I'm at and refused to help at all. Again, he hung up on me. Highly do NOT recommend this company. All you'll get is sarcasm and no ride. read more

The Worst taxi company ever. Bad internal control. I called for reservation two day ahead. They said they would ask someone to confirmed it with me. No one called. I called again to change time again. They said they would update. And said they understood how important it was to catch the bus. They wouldn't let us be later. However, no one shows up today! I used to use red tire all the time. They were fantastic and always got to me within fifteen minutes of my call. However recently I have had to stop using them and make other plans because the last three times I called for a cab they told me 15-20 minutes and didn't show up causing me to be late to events. Really awful make sure you have an alternative plan with these guys. read more

Never again will we use Red Tire Taxi. Our driver was a complete jerk.. My husband was dressed in a 3 layer costume (for halloween) got over heated in the car and switched places to a seat by the window. He ended up getting sick OUTSIDE of the car. Outside, not inside. Absolutely none inside. The driver charged $50. A car wash is less than $15. Not only did he charge $50 for my Husband getting sick OUTSIDE the car, but he was so so rude about it. My normal ride to class was unavailable, so i decided to call this company. My class started at four, so I called a little after three to arrange a ride. As I'm only about two miles from campus, I felt like that was plenty of time. The gentleman I spoke to said that they were busy at the moment, but that they would be available in twenty to thirty minutes. Forty minutes later, I call back to see where my cab is, only to be told that he (apparently the only car in service in Bloomington...) was still unavailable, but that I was next as soon as his current fare came out of the dentist and he got him home. Needless to say, with fifteen minutes left until class started, I missed that class. Had the operator told me that he would be unable to get a car to me in a reasonable amount of time, I would have made other arrangements. I called an hour early specifically to give myself time to do just that. Needless to say, I will not be using their services again, and I would caution others not to count on them for matters of importance. read more

My Girlfriend was in town to check out IU's Law School. She called this service and scheduled a pick up time in advance, however, the driver never showed up. When she called the service no one answered the phone and it took my complaining to get their attention. Within minutes of me following through they had 3 cabs ready and on their way, but by that time it was too late. This service made her late for the Law School tour and the only reason she made it there was b/c of another cab company coming to make up for Red Tires mistake. read more
