And, unless you live very close, your visit needs to be long enough that an overnight stay is in order. My wife and I typically stay three nights each time we come to Nashville. With all that being said: I highly recommend that you stay at the Artists Colony Inn... for several reasons: 1) It's right in the middle of town. Once you get there you can park your car and may never need it again until you leave town. 2) It's a very nice place. I wouldn't call it luxurious but then that characteristic would fly in the face of the hotel's theme: Brown County's artisan history. 3) While it costs more than say, an interstate Days Inn, et. al, I believe it is a good value. and 4) the folks there make you feel at home. My wife and I travel frequently (probably spend a hundred nights a year in hotels) and no where else have we encountered folks as friendly as those at Artists Colony Inn. Yes, we stay there often but we have favorite places to stay in other cities as well. But no where else am I greeted by the desk clerk with, "Hi, Mike" when I walk through the door! My wife and I know all (or nearly all) of their staff's first names - including their chef, baker and maintenance guy - they are all that friendly.

The fridge had thus rusted, the dishwasher was dirty, and the had minimal utensils, plates, and cups (which I would not use). The utility room had the door missing and the light in this room was bare (which I believe is a violation). Lights in the bathroom were brunt out. The kitchen had no paper towels or cleaning cloths. The linens in the bathroom were bare threads. NO housekeeping services. I had to walk down to the front desk to obtain clean linens; then bag my old lines and place outside the door. The pool should be condemned! Mold, ceiling falling in, and just filthy. This place could be a very nice Mom and Pop Hotel in Brown County if the owner fixed the place up a bit.
