The owner was very friendly, and everything was clean and well kept. The front garden and table would be a great place to hang out on a nice day. The living room has a coffee/tea station, an ice bucket, and glasses for wine, complimentary cookies, a couple wicker chairs, a couch, movies, and a TV. The couch and TV situation could be better for relaxing. The TV was a bit small or a bit too far away, but this is a little detail. To the right of the entrance and up a couple stairs is the bedroom with a queen bed, side table, and bench to put your things. There is a door in the bedroom that leads to the house through a closet, but it is kept locked when visitors are there and only used to easily access the apartment to clean. The bathroom was a major highlight to Virginia's Garden. It's bigger than you would expect! To the right is a microwave and small refrigerator with an opening below that perfectly fit the small cooler I brought. There is a nice sink area and shower. Walking past these is a large clawfoot bathtub, pedestal sink, toilet, chair, and a table with bath salts which I found useful after long days of walking! This place is perfect, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting!

After brushing off the walnuts in the light of day so as to not break an ankle in the dark, we were pleased with the nice bed and linens in our tent. It appeared we had neighbors in the adjacent site because they had left trash and forks in the fire pit, but no one ever came. Thankfully so as the fire pit was way too close to our tent entrance. We used the larger community fire pit as the evening waned. No one came to any of the other 4 tents. I feel this place has potential but seems to be in its infancy. It was very peaceful here. Wished there was a doable path to the Sycamore Saloon so you didn't have to drive even though it was a short distance down the road. With no bathhouse or bathrooms but a port a John, it is hardly glamping. Just don't have to pitch a tent. No direction about lighting but the "extra" battery pack was enough to light us up for our short trip. There was not one at the site. There was a geo dome being built on site. I think in time this could be a nice experience but for now, completely rustic and basic. We did not receive any pre arrival information and had to call to ask about linens, toilet and lighting so as to know what to pack. It seemed as the occupied tent next door was someone long term.

Nashville, Indiana is a great little village for a weekend getaway (or weekday jaunt). My wife…read morecalls it her "Happy Place". Women especially like Nashville because of its myriad of shops that appeal more to them more so than men. Men like it because it has good restaurants, some shops that we find interesting and we enjoy being with our spouse when they are especially happy. And there is the nature trail you can walk. Plus there are two entertainment venues offering music, comedy and theatrical productions. So... what's not to like?! And, unless you live very close, your visit needs to be long enough that an overnight stay is in order. My wife and I typically stay three nights each time we come to Nashville. With all that being said: I highly recommend that you stay at the Artists Colony Inn... for several reasons: 1) It's right in the middle of town. Once you get there you can park your car and may never need it again until you leave town. 2) It's a very nice place. I wouldn't call it luxurious but then that characteristic would fly in the face of the hotel's theme: Brown County's artisan history. 3) While it costs more than say, an interstate Days Inn, et. al, I believe it is a good value. and 4) the folks there make you feel at home. My wife and I travel frequently (probably spend a hundred nights a year in hotels) and no where else have we encountered folks as friendly as those at Artists Colony Inn. Yes, we stay there often but we have favorite places to stay in other cities as well. But no where else am I greeted by the desk clerk with, "Hi, Mike" when I walk through the door! My wife and I know all (or nearly all) of their staff's first names - including their chef, baker and maintenance guy - they are all that friendly.
