This is a very cool authentic Russian market with smoked fish, meats, sausage, caviar, honey, jams, andsome decorative items. It's a little piece of Mother Russia in the Tampa Bay area. Tucked into a strip mall plaza on Waters this a very fun place to check out. the NC Shoes, purses, watches and sunglasses place in the same plaza.is also fun for dressing up in stylish duds in the cheap. Walk the runway.. And then enjoy some beluga

This great shop has been delivering Central European/Russian goods here in Tampa for 17 years. My mom is Central European and lots of the items in this shop are familiar to me.Finding this place made me smile as I walked in and found more than expected. The deli counter is full of smoked fish, meats, cheeses and caviar.I bought the veal bologna and the Russian cervelet sausage.Tried the summer sausage and some of the most delicious fresh baked honey cake. The meats are fresh and sliced perfectly thin.Loaves of fresh Russian black bread are in the back of the store. This cake is 15 thin layers of honey cake with fresh butter cream between the layers coated in a dark chocolate ganache. The shop also carries beer and wines from Russia, along with tee shirts with Putin's picture on them, lots of Russian dolls and religious pictures. Honey and strawberry jam from Russia is on the shelves as well. Both are very tasty. All the items are priced well and easy to see on the shelves. The store is located in a Plaza on Waters Ave with plenty of parking. Lots of herbs and European medicine can also be found at this wonderful shop.

I wandered in here finding a parking space in front of it going to lunch at Bay Leaves in the same plaza, and what a find! What an adventure in food I am not familiar with. I was like a kid in a candy store. The owner bakes fresh rye bread, and I was lucky to get a loaf, still very warm, almost hot, out of the oven, a 2.2lb loaf for $6.89, and it's delicious! I asked him to pick out a hard salami for me in one of the two meat cases, and he sliced up 'Jewish' salami for me, and the best hard salami I have ever had, all beef, packed with flavor, and the perfect dryness. Other things I picked up were a container of sheep's cheese in brine, which I've never had, and haven't tried yet, head cheese, lamb dumplings, and a sugar wafer type dessert. What an exciting find for me. It's doubles the pleasure when going out, like going to eat at China Yuan and then to the bakery at the end of the plaza! I spotted an Indian grocery as we were pulling out, so that might make it a trifecta next time!

Ikura! Just salted enough to eat by itself.

We started with the Feather & Rye appetizer: chicken pâté with apple chutney and crispy onions on rye bread. I'd never had chicken pâté before and was honestly a little hesitant, but it was incredible. The chutney cuts through the richness perfectly and the crispy onions add just the right texture. For mains, I had the lamb chops that were beautifully seasoned and my boyfriend had the Chicken Kyiv, which he described as buttery and cheesy in the best possible way. The atmosphere is warm and intimate with really thoughtful Russian details throughout like the matryoshka dolls, the painted dishware, the candlelight. It feels special without being stuffy. Highly recommend for a date night or any occasion where you want something different from the usual Tampa dining rotation.

My first visit was with an event and not a normal set up, but wasn't impressed during that visit...and it really set the tone for the next visit.. I really didn't want to come back. But I did, it deserves a second chance, but unfortunately it fell short yet again. The service was friendly enough, but not great. When I ordered an item off the menu, they told me it wasn't available. So I then needed another minute to decide what I wanted. When the server returned I ordered another item and again, they didn't have it. But then proceeded to tell me all the items that were not available that evening. WHY wouldn't he have said when the first item wasn't available, all the other items that weren't available. I really wanted some vegetables....so when I couldn't have really much of anything but the dumplings, I asked if I could have some of the vegetables from the entrees that were all unavailable with the dumplings but he said he could not do that. I think the language barrier created some issues in this case. They couldn't accommodate much of anything. That's too bad. I won't be back to this location.

We started with the Blinchiki (Eastern European pancakes) stuffed with ground beef. They were cheesy, soft, and savory, with a slight crisp on the outside while remaining tender overall. The beef was very tender and well seasoned...comforting and satisfying. For my entrées, I ordered the Chakhokhbili and the Khinkali. The Chakhokhbili featured a flavorful tomato-based sauce with red bell peppers, tomatoes, chili pepper, cilantro, and garlic. The chicken thighs were super tender, and the blend of herbs in the sauce was beautiful. The flavor itself was excellent; however, a downside was that parts of the dish were cold while others were warm, which took away from the experience a bit. The Khinkali (Georgian dumplings) were huge and served piping hot. They were sprinkled with seasoning and came with sour cream and salsa on the side, which complemented them well. Overall, great flavors and a cozy atmosphere. I'd definitely return and hope for more consistent temperature on the dishes next time. Aside from the temperature issue for my one dish (which I docked one star for), this spot was great!

This day we stopped for dinner and we ordered Dill Pickle Soup($7.99), Cold Cut Platter for 2 ($11.99) which had Kabanoski Sausage, forest sausage, country sausage, wedding sausage, bread and pickle, and 12 Mix Pierogi Plate ($19.99) which had 3 potato and cheddar, 3 potato and farmers cheese, 3 kraut and mushroom and 3 pork. The food is really really good. We were delightfully surprised at how tasty the Dill Pickle soup is. The Pierogis we ordered pan sautéed and they were all very tasty. The Cold Cuts were all really nice too. The decor is fairly dark in black and dark red with alligator print table and booth coverings. There is also a store inside selling a decent selection of candies, canned goods, sausages and frozen pierogi to take home. Service is friendly and as attentive as we wanted. This is a highly recommended place to experience. We can't wait to return on a future trip to the area.

John did a great job setting expectations with everyone walking through the door (unlike our horrible experience at Seaweed earlier in the week). The menu is a vegetarian's dream and the food beyond delicious. I really can't say enough about the high quality of absolutely everything we ordered. Would return in a heartbeat!

I had such high hopes for this place. :( The selection is very limited and perhaps I missed something (entirely possible), but I did not see a price list for the deli case. We did find a unique assortment of other German products- some we haven't seen in many years. The restaurant portion was quite busy and the customers looked happy. We were flooded with nostalgia and left in hopes of dining in on a less-busy day. I ordered two meats, including the German bologna. During the drive home, my family and I noticed a terrible odor-- the kind where we started pointing fingers at one another. We never suspected that the package from the deli was the source. When we opened it at home, a nauseatingly funky, ammonia-type smell came from the German bologna. While the liverwurst smelled okay, I could not trust it after the bologna and decided against keeping it. Wasted time and money. Dang! The staff is super nice and that was truly a plus. However, I doubt we will be back. My family is very bummed over this.
