Anthony did great work on me and my sister in law. I got a black and white scale tat and she got a full color tat. He took our ideas and created custom pieces for us as walk ins, near closing time. He didn't seem put off by us or anything. He gladly accepted the work. Super clean and great music while getting our tat's. Everyone we met there was very nice. Highly recommend. Anyway, pretty cool shop if you are hanging out outside there is music blaring to welcome you and when you go inside it is a pretty big tattoo parlor. Employees are pretty friendly and it is not just tattoos, you can find cool t-shirts here as well. Amazing display of tattoo art and portfolios, you could probably sit here for awhile just gazing through each of them. Very clean shop, check it out. read more

It's a calm and obviously professional environment...not full of hipsters trying to make the scene...That is a blessing in itself. You will find NO flash art at Red Sky Studio! I have been working with the owner and lead artist, Philip J. Felix on a large piece for over a year. Philip is an amazing artist with many accolades under his belt. All tattoos by Philip are free hand drawn on your body NEVER traced. He has an amazing ability to draw images that not only mirror your musculature, but move with your body to create a mesmerizing effect. Alex was awesome! He took the time to understand what I wanted and then worked around the awful piece that we were trying to cover up. I am holding off showing any pictures until we have finished. I spent almost 6 hours in the chair with him the first time and he was entertaining, focused and very detailed in his artwork. The studio was super clean and welcoming, as well as the staff. Haji was amazing! He took the time to draw a custom tattoo for me based on designs I liked, and was the most patient tattoo artist I've ever met! When it started to hurt too much he was always okay with taking a break but also calmed me down and when I thought the pain was too much to handle, he even switched to a bigger needle and made it much more comfortable for me. I don't know why I'm only the second reviewer of this amazing custom art tattoo shop. Maybe Tucson isn't as big a fan of Yelp! as San Diego is and I haven't been in town long, but I have spent some time visiting different Tucson shops and checking out a lot of the area artists on line. From what I've seen, Red Sky Studio, is the best around. The work is original, the staff is friendly, and the shop is beautiful. I sat for Lisa Cardenas today and I couldn't be happier with the end result. I popped in about a week ago with an idea and some very basic designs and in just a few days Lisa came up with a drawing that completely captured the look I wanted. She's not much of a talker while she's plying her trade, but her talent is how I found her in the first place, and I plan on returning to her for more work. This isn't your typical strip mall tattoo shop with flash covering the walls under fluorescent lights and questionable levels of ability among those who work there. Everyone at Red Sky is an artist and their walls proudly display their abilities in many mediums. I have heard that some potential customers have been scared away because they assumed the prices at Red Sky must be too steep based on their professionalism and custom decor, and to this I have two comments: First, the price I was quoted before work began seemed extremely fair and consistent with the prices I've encountered in tattoo shops where I've had work done before, from San Diego and LA and Vegas to New York and North Carolina. I've gotten symmetrical fleur de lis on my collar bones here and they are wonderful. The great thing about this place is that they all have experience as artists before they became tattoo artists. So your not going to just pick off the wall here, they really want to get creative. read more

I had an old, old tattoo on my foot that looked exactly like the flower on my favorite book of poetry, the only problem was that it was spotty because I hadn't taken good care of it when I got it done 10 years ago and without the surrounding pictures (like the ones on the book cover) it looked more like a fried egg than a flower. I talked to Alex and told him that I liked the design because it was special to me and not like every other generic flower that too many women seem to have these days - but I was tired of people looking at it and not even disguising their confusion with questions like "What the heck is THAT? Is that real, or did you use a sharpie?" I gave him permission to doodle a little on my foot and get some ideas flowing. After a very nice but very shamrock-looking sketch (it was march 16), he added some shading and shadows and made it look like an actual flower without losing the original silhouette. He was very professional and easy to talk to. I was the last appointment of the evening. They locked up and closed shortly after he got started on my tattoo and I was relaxed knowing that they were closing just as the 4th Ave bars were starting to fill up. There is a shop down the street where you can play pool before you get your tattoo done - if you don't mind all the drunks picking out their tattoo design by the number on the wall like they are ordering off the dollar menu at McDonald's. Red Sky Studio is the kind of place that doesn't reinforce the stereotype that body art is a trashy form of drunken self-expression. I've been here to Red Sky Studio now twice & both times I've came out extremely satisfied with the effort, detail, & artistic ability of the artist. It is very clean & extremely Sterile (Ask them about it when you come in, it's a pretty epic process). The location is perfect because it doesn't look like an ordinary strip mall tattoo shop (so sorry if your into that kinda look). When you enter the place there are displays of amazing art on the walls, & the artist are extremely friendly, professional & eager to help you out. You do have to set up an appointment & there is a deposit but that of course goes to the tattoo & this allows them to immediately get started on the design. My family & I get our work done from Haji & Alex but every artist there has there very own unique style & there is a woman in there named Lisa who will blow your mind with her work along with the owner Philip who is hands down amazing. Overall, you should definitely check out the place & I promise you, you'll be coming back in the future. read more
