Business model is horrible for customers, it is designed to benefit the business only. All you can eat is BS. Order items individually on menus (the server then edits your order "cause you don't want to order too much cause 'we charge you additional for left overs'" the. You wait 45 mins for the food to arrive which is smaller than a lunch portion elsewhere. If you are lucky your server will provide with an additional menu to order again. Server is quick to bring your bill never asking if you are finished. Go to a traditional Asian buffet with sushi or a hibachi restaurant. Stay away don't buy into the false advertisement of all you can eat. read more

Let me be clear, this was my first time ever eating sushi. I had a great experience. The waitress was nice and help me pick out certain rolls that I would like or potentially like. I was there with a friend and she was an experienced sushi eater and she also picked out certain roles that she liked. We did the sushi and hibachi buffet and it was totally worth the money. She lives in Colorado and she said that up there she would be at least paying $50 or more per person for a buffet like that. The atmosphere was great I love the inside and the design. I got a couple of items but I do not remember all of the rolls that I got. The seaweed salad was good, the Gyoza was amazing. I ordered four orders of that lol. I also got the hibachi chicken and shrimp with fried rice, that was great. It did not smell "fishy" or anything, everything was fresh and flavorful. We used to enjoy coming to Red Sake, but the service has gone WAY downhill since they opened. Today we waited over an HOUR for an order, the restaurant isn't even busy but because that got one large party (AFTER we placed that order) ours took over an hour. I could understand if we placed the order AFTER the large party but we placed it before they even walked in. We then requested to get it to go (which I would NEVER normally do but because we waited SO long it was past the kids bedtime and we needed to get them home) but of course they wanted to charge us extra. We were there over 2.5 hours and my kids got ONE roll of sushi. There were also parts of our order that we NEVER received. Asked to speak to a manager, and she was not interested in helping with the situation at all. Customer Service is HORRIBLE. read more

Wanted some Japanese tonight and the fact it's all you can eat I couldn't resist trying a lot. There is a charge for left over food but it's not too bad and you can take it home. I forgot to take some pics of the foods I ordered but everything was really good. The miso soup was really good and creamy tho not as many pieces of seaweed or tofu in it as I'd hoped. The clear broth was ok just a little watered down tasting. The seaweed salad was really good and the takoyaki was crispy on the outside and creamy inside. The shumai was also crispy on the outside but juicy inside which was a really nice texture. The mackerel nigiri was good with a little soy sauce added, the eel was great with the sauce that's on top, the tobiko nigiri had black eggs which I wasn't expecting but it was really good and had lots of pops, and last the tamago nigiri was kinda sweet tasting almost like a dessert which I liked. The crab rangoons were good but the skins are a little thick and once cold not that good to eat to the edges. Steak hibachi with veggies and rice was over all good but the rice wasn't on point. The chicken and udon was good with the noodles being kinda soft but still having some chew. The shrimp udon with veggies was great having the shrimp perfectly cooked and nice crunch to some of the veggies. My sister and her wife ordered a few sushi rolls and they liked them as well but forgot to ask what all the ordered. So far I know that everything I tried was worth the price and the service was nice. The server refilled our drinks and came to check on us a couple times. Also ordered a bottle of sake chilled for the table and a small apple sake. Will definitely be back again to try more. read more

Good sushi! We came with a large group and they did a great job on getting food out timely.

The sushi by far the best I have ever had, but they made us wait 3 hours total from the time we got there til we finished food and left. They cared more for larger parties and would focus on their orders more and put us last every time they had to refill orders for other larger tables even those folks came in long after we did. The wait til from start to finish was absurd. The staff were stretched way, way too thin and we felt horrible for the girls running around with no help. There were only 2 staff making sushi NONSTOP with no breaks the entire time. What we observed is they are extremely understaffed which is unacceptable all across the board. This spilled over into horrible wait times in between sushi refills. 3 hours total, you guys. I cannot make this up. If you are gonna go, you better allot at least 3 hours even if you're a party of 2. I was only in a party of 2. The sushi is incredible, but like I said, that wait time and the severe understaffing issue made us not want to come back again until we get word again that their time management is back within acceptable limits. To management: you are NOT allowed to blame your staff for this one. You need to hire more people to handle the larger crowds. I know management loves to shift blame on their staff, but this situation is totally inappropriate for that. Your only fix is to hire more staff or you are going to have ongoing issues. Let me know when your time management and staffing issues are resolved and then I'll come back. Otherwise, I don't have 3 hours to kill like that. I actually have daily tasks to take care of already don't have that much time on my hands. read more

Never had any issues at red sake before this evening. Our service was absolutely awful - drinks remaining empty, no extra plates, no ginger or wasabi with our sushi, cold food, having to find out server, and waiting for food that was never put in. Discussed the issues with managers who tried to argue with us - we got nothing that addressed our complaints or acknowledged us as paying customers. After over two hours, we walked out with disappointment toward Red Sakes management and overall operations as a restaurant. read more

Sushi was not good, rice was overcooked and too soft, the roll had way too much sauce on it, the miso was just broth, and the spring rolls weren't good, not to mention it is pricey unless you are doing all you can eat. One sushi roll was literally all I could stand to eat. read more

I'm always on the lookout for all you can eat sushi restaurants, and after one meal here, this place has entered my rotation. I went here for lunch so I got to enjoy it for a little cheaper than at dinner, but the quality and quantity of food did not disappoint at all! So many options that all tasted delicious and came out so quickly and aesthetically, for those of you whose eye's eat first. We took our son and daughter-in-law from California here for dinner. My wife and I are new to sushi but the staff were very helpful navigating the menu for us. We ordered several sushi rolls and appetizers along with our dinner. There are great options outside of their sushi, fried rice dishes with chicken/steak/shrimp or vegetarian. Our DIL said it was the best salmon sushi she's had! The great part of all you can eat is the ability to order both sushi dishes and cooked options. Best low budget sushi spot in town on a scale of one to ten sushi is honestly a 7 but for the cost and unlimited amount it's the best money can buy. Service is fast and friendly and your table will rarely be empty. One of the only complaints I have is that on weekends it becomes insanely crowded and service quality goes down because of the sheer number of customers but that is to be expected the service is still good just not as good as on a weekday. read more

Having tried just about every sushi bar, hibachi joint and Chinese buffet in a 50 mile radius, Red Sake is definitely on the top of my list now. Sushi and hibachi are all you can eat and quality is on par if not better than $20 a plate restaurants in the Lexington area. As far as all you can eat goes staff is attentive, and ordering is as easy as checking the boxes of what you'd like. Sushi quality is above most restaurants in the Columbia-Lexington area, and definitely outranks staples like Tsunami and Antai. This place should be your next stop if you want great sit down hibachi and sushi and don't want to break the bank. read more

I had a really solid experience at Red Sake! I went on a Tuesday evening for dinner with a friend and the place wasn't packed so we sat immediately. Waitresses were attentive without being annoying, which I really appreciate, and kept our waters full and the food coming! I tried mochi for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! However, it is not included in the AYCE menu, it costs $1.99 extra (which was worth it!). The portions here are pretty significant. You get a full sushi roll and an entire plate of noodles/hibachi. Since you do pay per piece for what you don't eat, that's actually a little bit of a downside for me. I love an AYCE place because I can try a lot of items! However, when you get basically full sized portions, it's hard to try everything you want because you don't want to end up paying for the extra uneaten food. But it's hard to complain too much when you can watch the sushi rolls being made to order and everything tastes great! Will definitely be returning! read more

This is definitely a mixed bag for me. Pros: the sushi selection is fantastic and it might be secretly the best sushi in Columbia. If there was any drawback to the sushi, it's that there's a lot of tempura in what they do, so it's hard to avoid a crunch in the rolls. Their hibachi is meh, but it's not a hibachi place so I'm not terribly bothered. There's plenty of other places to get that. All of their appetizers and salads and one-offs are delicious as well, and the fact that I can re-order their amazing crab salad is just MWAH! It's spacious, the booths accommodate people with a little wider girth, and the staff is super-friendly. Cons: if you don't go on a weekday you're going to have at least a 30-45 minute wait. Everyone's heard about this place and everyone wants to try it. The service the past few times has been remarkably slow (this past Saturday it took us 45 minutes from the time we were seated to get our first appetizer), which leads to a pretty stiff wait time. Also, if you want to keep your appetite, don't go into the bathrooms. They looked like a Five Points bar bathroom after St. Paddy's Day, and I almost gave this a 3* review based strictly on that. Conclusion: If you want to eat a lot of really good sushi and other Japanese food and can avoid going to their restrooms, this is a wonderful place and, despite the negatives, I will be back frequently. read more

After getting sick and not being able to join my family for Father's Day dinner to hear about their experience at this restaurant pushed me to leave a review. The food was pretty good everything else from the host to the server was absolute garbage. "20 mins wait well text" they didn't even take her number down.... Putting an order in for the server to come back and say " it's 50 cents for every roll you don't eat" proceeding to make the executive decision to not put the order in, I could keep going. The best sushi I have ever had hands down. I have gone to this restaurant twice and both times the food was amazing. The Crab Rangoon is special for some reason. I'm not sure why but the second time I brought my husband and the service was not too great. The hostess quoted us a 2 hour wait although tons of tables were open and we watched multiple parties exit. After the fifth party leaving, I finally asked the hostess if she was able to seat us in one of the open tables, and she proceeded to seat us at one of the tables that had been open the entire time we waited.
